I haven't jumped into the game yet to test this stuff out. Now that the buffs are out, I'm going to retry leveling and trying out the Oculus carbine. The place I've put the Vanguard in my mind that seems unique, is that they're supposed to be the ones systematically taking down majors up close with their primary weapon, similar to Assault doing that with melee, and Melta seems too spammy and crowd-control focused. It CAN take down majors quickly, but not quickly enough for my mental image of the Vanguard, I want something that's got a faster kill-time on a single target, and the Instigator, while also good, seems to lean away from the close-quarter gameplay I'm envisioning. Without using Melta or Instigator, that just leaves Oculus. Hopefully it feels good. If not, I REALLY hope the devs add in a shotgun for the Vanguard at some point, THAT would fit the bill PERFECTLY for Vanguard!
They are all terrible. I like this game but bolters don't feel like the brutally effective weapons like they're described in the lore. If I'm honest, none of the weapons feel right. Every enemy is a bullet sponge apart from the heretic cultists. Just lower enemy health across the board, standardize damage values, scrap the dmg/health scaling by difficulty, and give us waves after waves of enemies, not this nonsense.
I believe the bolt weapon buff is good. Anymore would make it to op. Edit: more info. a redditor gave a best description of the bolt weapons and i will rephrase it here, the bolt weapon adhere to neither extreme between the melta and plasma. They are high precision, high capacity weapons. And the buff make them much more viable and competitive to the other power weapons. Not to much to be in the OP or meta this/that.
Yup, theyve taken small, careful hits to it to specialize its role more, and buffed other things up around it! Great stuff, they deserve credit for their methods
My biggest problem with bolt rifle weapons wasn't primarily damage honestly. It is that they don't have their own identities. They just feel like better/worse versions of the same gun -- heavy bolter should have a slower fire rate, smaller mag size, but crazy damage, with lower headshot multiplier but higher base damage and stagger values -- auto bolt rifle should be fast firing, medium damage, with a big mag and great stability, but less stagger and a lower headshot multiplier -- bolt carbine should have a damage multiplier when you're closer than 5m to the enemy you're shooting and should have a huge ammo reserve but smaller mag size and bad damage drop off past 15m or so -- oculus should just be removed and the vanguard should get access to the auto bolt rifle instead (also the carbine) -- the regular bolter and the stalker bolter are fine as they are With these changes each bolt rifle would have it's own identity instead of feeling super generic
Agreed that more of them need a gimmick, auto bolt is just a worse heavy rifle so it should have a laser for your targeting at least or something. Those two you mentioned and HBR are distinct enough but that's the only ones.
So your suggestion is to just do what is already being done but sliding values. The guns literally already function within the parameters you were setting. They just don’t deal enough damage to have any of their other attributes matter. Heavy bolted already is a slower but higher ammonium. Auto is a faster firing lower damage function. Their identity exists. But with damage that low it doesn’t matter.
As much as you'd want to change em they're already like this is could imagine accuracy would matter if headset multiplier was higher why would you reduce headshots on the more accurate gun?
@@beowulf_of_wall_stnot really remember the sheer size an the strength of average space marines that's just basic astartes weaponry. Obviously stuff is downloaded for lesser humans to use.
Yeah but you're shooting at some very resilient aliens. Keep in mind that the horlagaunts are bigger than a human. So struggeling to shootdown the big warriors makes sense.
I think .75 caliber is closer to a 12 Gauge shell. Which doesn’t sound too insane until you realize that the actual projectile is the same diameter and you then compare that to a conventional bullet. Yeah, bolter shells are absolutely massive by small arms standards and the added goodies like rocket propulsion and a high explosive payload only add to the devastation.
@@mikeshurk Disagreed, plasma weapons tear through higher difficulties the most easily but melta is a good newbie option if you don't know how to aim or dodge yet.
If you ever played the melter or plasma, you know they were not underrated. Just worse. When you play at the highest difficulty with randoms there is not much room for meh weapons. Would still take melter and plasma over every bolter when it's getting serious.
@@anitaremenarova6662 I never even mentioned plasma weapons? Besides, not knowing how to dodge/aim wont get you a W in lethal with any weapon. Plasmas def strong but it aint gunna do 50k+ dmg and cut through hordes like meltas.
@@mikeshurk Well melta just infinitely stunlocks majoris so it very well can. Then those players who've never used anything else run into thropes and it's over lol. Also yes it can do that much, the damage is insane on heavy's version.
Bolt rifles already felt a mix of OK to pretty good depending on which. If they feel better and more fun to use, that's great. There doesn't need to be a meta in PvE. Use what you want. It's a video game you don't actually die. Good opportunity to practice confidence without consequence.
To be honest I wondered if they wanted to give vanguard a bolt carbine, as that would suit the role and balance between long range burst fire and short ranged melta. Then someone realised how op that would make vanguard 😄 I'll give it a go at some point, though I like the chainsaw for crowd control and burst fire for picking out individual targets, especially when they're summoning reinforcements
I still use melta on Vanguard because it's the only shotgun-like option right now. Idk much about w40k lore but I hope vanguard gets more shotgun-like weapons in the future.
You gotta stop holding attack after the stomp starts, and hold it again while he finishes. It's super weird and took me like 30 mins to get to work lol
My favourite bolt weapon is still the standard Bolt Rifle, with or without the grenade launcher. But I do love how rapid and nifty the Bolt Carbine is. Am looking to get it to relic tier and use one of its Marksman variants.
@Zerosixious Yeah, I've seen a vid of someone else using it, and it looks really good. I'm only just reaching Artificer tier on my carbine right now, but it won't long before I'm there.
Heavy bolter only got a 5% buff so it's unlikely you'll notice. Still, a great weapon. You'll never run out of ammo just wish the overheating wasn't as annoying.
@@ace12342 Multiplies it to plus five percent. That's not how that works. Five percent is five percent no matter how you try to muck with the numbers. It's not ten percent more DPS, it's not fifteen percent more DPS, it's five percent.
@@ace12342 And what made you accuse me of not watching it already? Five percent is five percent. The rate of fire is irrelevant and and five percent extra damage is insignificant to contested health. You don't see any actual testing or number crunching because he hasn't done any.
I don’t know what he’s showing us having that kills or damage as well, I was doing those numbers pre patch… honestly out the bolt weapons why use anything but GL on tactical? You get both. But GL is strong and not having it is 1 less tool for what advantage exactly? His shooting the thrope and saying it was good was funny… like dude it’s hp bar isn’t really moving, then the bulwark hits it with 1 charged plasma shot and visually chunks it kek
So, basically the fast firing weapons have been buffed somewhat significantly (except heavy bolter), while all the precision weapons won't feel different in their "shots to kill" ratio, but will at least do a little bit better boss damage over time.
From what I've understood: Auto bolt rifle: still pretty lackluster, heavy bolt rifle surpasses it in every single way, I don't know why this gun exists in the first place. Bolt rifle: unnoticable, everyone uses it for GL anyway. Heavy bolt rifle: it was B-tier before, now it's A. It maws through crowds, deals decent damage to big targets and restores contested health with enormous speed. Stalker bolt rifle: it was good, now it nukes everything that has clear head to shoot even faster. Marksman bolt carbine: unnoticable. Instigator: unnoticable, damage still needs work, still requires entire magazine to bring a major to the executable state. Bolt sniper rifle: unnoticable, still has no purpose because laser outclasses it in every single way. Bolt carbine: not total garbage anymore but it would require lot more to be a good weapon. Cockulus bolt carbine: still dogshit. Heavy bolter: unnoticable, I was able to deal 30+k damage before and I can do it now, but slightly better.
Bolt rifle is good even in the standard version, has a much higher headshot multiplier than HBR so it puts down majoris+ noticeably faster and isn't much worse at fodder clearing either given the quick reload. Easy A tier, Heavy Bolter is S and GL variant SSS with heavy bolt rifle still only being B sadly.
Don’t think the buffs will be meta breaking but I appreciate that they took a measured approach to the bolter buffs. Wouldn’t want to over buff them while reducing AI director mania. Now more iteration can happen without diluting the reason why something might have over performed
Kinda means jack for the bolt sniper like it dosent even kill in 1 bullet less which sucks they really should have just give bolters a fast fire rate and more ammo ti balance them
Heavy bolter for life brothers! I keep wanting to level the other heavy weapons, but it's hard to put down my love. I saw that fine 5% buff and started feeling bad for the enemies I'm about to put in front of my heavy.
As a heavy main (my preferred class) the heavy bolter has absolutely improved. I’ve never been the guy that rules lbs the meta. I play my own way, how I like and not how others want me to run.. it’s just really nice to see how improved that heavy bolter is. Don’t get me wrong, I always felt like it was good. It’s just even better now.
Bolt Sniper still feels weak. It's not just the damage, it's the bullet velocity. It's too slow and should be doubled. And the Heavy Bolter should have a Penetration 1 perk.
My main is the Assault class. So I guess heavy bolt pistol is my favourite. I hope in the future the assault class can get a storm Bolter and a chain axe. Power axe is also acceptable.
Heavy bolt pistol is nuts IMO I get the same sometimes more damage with the artificer version (only just got the relic version yet to use it) as my relic thunder hammer just hit headshots and it chews up enemies great for interrupting wave summons aswell.
@chrispierson7151 agree. Storm bolters are only able to be used one-handed by terminators, their recoil and fire rate is obscene in lore. Using one in regular tacticus armor would have the muzzle doing flips.
Id been working with my heavy bolter on my heavy, finding it along with the plasma pistol for majors, a fun versatile build. Now it feels really viable too.
You know... I used to watch your channel for Destiny 2 content, because it was one of the channels that helped me figure out weapons in the game. Since stepping away from that game, I dove into Space Marine 2 hard, and here I am, watching your channel again to help me figure out weapons.
Honestly a lot of them went from outright painful to use and closer to decent. The ones that were already decent are now firmly in the good category. A few still need a little more kick, but for the most part a solid series of buffs with nothing jumping into the "too much" category.
I actually really like the heavy bolt rifle now. I had it at Epic before (max exp as well) simply because I loved the feel of it, but now it actually slaps. I can take down Majoris in good time, and if they are Auspexed they just fold, it's amazing.
Trouble with this is that the ones people want to use are all tied to tactical, let us use our credits and armoury data to unlock more primary weapons for different classes
Its going to look cringe but these are the raw damage increase for these buffs. D = damage version of the weapon. A = ammo (it can be any version as long as it didnt increase damage/it was the defualt damage verison of the weapon). Take this all with a grain of salt, all the numbers I used was from that spreadsheet that someone took from the game files. This is all the raw damage numbers, no weapon perks, just the weapon at relic tier. Non Headshot Damage bolt sniper(D) 2.8875 bolt sniper(A) 2.55 stalker bolt rifle(D) 1.22 stalker bolt rifle(A) 1.09 heavy bolt rifle(D) 0.735 auto bolt rifle(A) 0.68 heavy bolt rifle(A) 0.645 bolt rifle(D) 0.54 bolt carbine(D) 0.54 occulus bolt carbine(D) 0.51 bolt rifle(A) 0.48 bolt carbine(D) 0.48 occulus bolt carbine(A) 0.45 bolt carbine(A) 0.435 instigator bolt carbine(D) 0.36 instigator bolt carbine(A) 0.32 heavy bolter(D) 0.265 heavy bolter(A) 0.225 Headshot Damage bolt sniper(D) 11.5625 bolt sniper(A) 10.2 stalker bolt rifle(D) 4.86 stalker bolt rifle(A) 4.32 bolt carbine(D) 2.16 bolt carbine(D) 1.92 bolt rifle(D) 1.62 heavy bolt rifle(D) 1.455 bolt rifle(A) 1.44 instigator bolt carbine(D) 1.44 auto bolt rifle(A) 1.34 heavy bolt rifle(A) 1.29 instigator bolt carbine(A) 1.28 occulus bolt carbine(D) 1.02 occulus bolt carbine(A) 0.915 bolt carbine(A) 0.87 heavy bolter(D) 0.8 heavy bolter(A) 0.67 If you liked xyz weapon before, these changes dont change anything for you, if you didnt like xyz weapon before, it most likely didnt change how someone feels about xyz weapon, honestly the biggest reason for anyone that now suddenly likes one of these weapons is either placebo or they just didnt use it enough before, to learn that they liked it. The bolt sniper honestly needs a larger headshot multiplier combared to the las fusil, mainly because the las has horde clearing, and single target burst, where as the bolt has weaker clear and wearker burst, but it probably MAYBE has better sustained dps thanks to the ammo refund perk and reloading on cloak perk.
The regular Bolt Rifle still feels good, with the correct weapon perks you can carry 11 grenades in it standard. That combined with the Tactical's auspex scan can delete any Terminus Mob up to Lethal without too much issues. Scan drain your grenades into it Execute get grenades back... and it doesn't even feel like a chore!
@@hopeasusisusi9189 Just the grenades and Melee is good enough to get through anything... The bullets are not even needed. and since the whiners got their easy mode back I can keep grinding in any difficulty becasue skill in this game is basically out the door!
I have no idea why they decided to buff the Heavy Bolter. It was already really powerful weapon at Relic tier in Lethal difficulty. Now I dont really see the benefit of using Plasma or Melta at all since Bolter can do everything now with really good flexibility for longer ranges and it also shreds nids and tzaangors at close range
I am seeing insta kills now on headshots from auto-bolt and heavy-bolt instead of just putting them on execute so it is a good improvement overall but I still think they need more damage increases, specifically the tactical bolters and carbines (with exception of stalker bolt maybe)
I was playing ruthless last night and I’ll play again today to compare the patch but I feel like we’ll all be better at the game after a rough week 😂 I did get use to the nerfs to where ruthless felt easy so I’m excited to try after these buffs
I’m just now using most of the bolt weapons because I never did them while I was leveling characters. I did level a lot of weapons and switched when some went maxed but don’t have a lot of time to play
They all serve a purpose. I can replace a heavy with a tactical or sniper just fine. The only key thing heavy has is the range damage nullification. Heavies don't last long if we don't keep majoris and bigger threats aggroed. But then I play every class except vanguard, which is saving for when my friends get the game. I like em all for different reasons.
@@Mr.Ford3350 Someone never played Heavy, you can carry teams all by yourself. Same can't be said for Bulwark who only has 18 shots from his plasma pistol and then is stuck with useless melee lmfao
All the bolters are still worse options than meltas. Bolters not just lack damage, it also lacks crowd control and knockback/stun. Everything above Majoris can just run through or even block bolter fire, but melta will punch through their guard and stun them. With 2 meltas, you can stun lock a group of Warriors. And you barely have to aim meltas. You can also easily do fighting retreats with the melta.
Can you test out the balance changes regarding the charged melee attacks? From the in game description nothing seems to have changed so I have no idea what the melee weapon perk changes are
The Heavy Bolter has always been one of the best weapons in the game. It’s just not completely game breaking like the multi-melta or heavy plasma incinerator, thus it was perceived as weak.
I mean, it's broken in its own right that you'll never struggle with ammo but the tradeoff is that you overheat quite fast and can't stun any bigger enemies.
So tight formation was probably dumb but I gotta say it’s sad we’ll never have a real difficult mode again. I actually found it kinda fun to have a difficulty setting to put the relic guns to work. Winning in lethal felt good cause there was a very real chance I could fail. Played one run on lethal today on decapitarion and made it to boss everyone(randoms) had full stims a gene seed and a relic. Left 2 stims behind in the last room maybe one or two downs the whole run
I think they just need to replace it with another gimmick that is more inline with the design of the game. If the win rates are too high I’m sure they’ll try something else.
Yeah, there's no reason to ever use it when fusil is just the better version. You mulch fodder for free since you get ammo back when hitting 3 and the aim is incredibly trivial even unscoped.
The meta will still always be Melta Rifle and Multi melta, they just crowd control so well and its perfect when you have a team with a Heavy, Vanguard and Tactical running either Melta weapon
Heavy plasma at the Melta level. Damage from charged attacks turns Majoris mobs red from two projectiles. The damage to bosses is also higher , and the nerf melta will affect it even more. Heavy plasma kills a crowd Minoris worse than melta, but since it has aoe damage, especially on charged attacks, then it's not a problem.
@@georgesgranger6362plasma has a bit of a learning curve because of the slow projectile speed, but the heavy plasma incinerator is a ton of fun once you get the hang of leading your targets. I gave the meltas a shot a while back, but I just found them boring and largely taking the skill curves out of the game.
This kind of exaggerated positivity isn't going to help get these weapons where they need to be. Is a buff bad? No. But does it make any *practical* difference? NO, it really doesn't. The biggest buff of the auto of 20% feels like a lot until you realize that's only going from a tiny 5 damage against melee enemies to 6 damage, a whole whopping ONE damage more. Now if the enemy had only 50 to 100 health, maybe that'd be AT ALL noticeable, but against enemies with over THREE HUNDRED health? Oh Whoopty-fucking-doo, my cup runth over... These weapons still aren't GOOD, the barely okay ones are still only barely okay compared to the just objectively better options, and by still a WIDE margin too. Bolters needed AT LEAST a 50% buff to be even competitive, if not just straight doubled with the legit turds in the pack like the oculus. "These underperformers now do a tiny bit better in a vaccum" doesn't matter when the alternatives still slap the enemies GFs' collective asses in front of them while riding the bolter's moms into battle when viewed in comparison. Pretending otherwise just muddies the waters all the further when it comes to dev feedback. Is any buff still good? Yes, technically, but more in the sense it's just not bad. It's still best to just tell it like it is in that these timid ass platitudes ain't achieving it. And we know they're timid because of that awkward ass 12.5% buff that hits no breakpoints instead of the far cleaner and straight 25%. They very clearly where thinking of going with that and got scared so they cut it in half. Which is frankly silly because, again, even a 50% may still have not even made it ACTUALLY competitive with the fusil. Man up Saber. For the Emperor.
They exaggerate buffs the same way they exaggerate nerfs. These are just buzzwords now and don't mean anything anymore, other than how to synchronize their feelings with the mob.
Heavy is the last class I have to level up once I get my tactical to 25 (it’s currently at 21), and I just cannot decide what weapon I wanna go with/level up first for it. Any thoughts fellas?
Bolter is pure fun I main heavy and its my go to this buff is just icing on top for me. I use the accuracy version by far the best less ammo or damage but headshots are big and the other two need to be burst fired for easy headshots at range this one doesn't it beams overall its good for all enemies really can chew up terminus enemies just hit your headshots auspex helps a lot. Struggles with lictors and raveners more than other extremis if they are attacking you and its not bad against terminators just whack your iron halo on for the ranged ones and the melee ones just parry. Good against all terminus and boss enemies probably weakest against hellbrute i struggle with headshots on it. The Plasma gun is great for when u see a big group of majoris it can drop them all to execute in seconds via charged shots just hit the ground in the middle of them not the actual enemy it can burn ammo fast but is manageable can also deal with groups of minoris well just tap shot again hitting the ground in between the groups of enemies, can ruin extremis too but most of them are hard to hit with it as they jump about, dash, teleport, dig and even the zonanthropes can be annoying to hit as u shoot then they shoot which makes them bob up and down and u miss happens a lot i might just be bad at this though it wrecks terminus enemies with auspex scan on them and is pretty good without it. Have not used a single melta weapon and probably wont its a boring weapon imo can see the appeal of insta wiping your screen of most enemies but its just not for me.
Can't go wrong with heavy bolter, heavy plasma is by far the strongest but also the most unforgiving given its projectile shots instead of hitscan like other weapons. Multimelta is a melta so obviously the strongest beginner choice, just pick it up and never lose again. I was clearing ruthless with this thing only green.
As an Assault main I can't imagine playing this game with anything other than a hammer and HBP, how do you all do it?, it's so satisfying smashing shit, shooting BBs must feel ass.
The chainsword is slept on for assault. The speed that it's capable of, especially when you need to dodge an attack that can't be parried, is the biggest plus. As for using the regular bolt pistol while playing assault... I got nothing there brother lol.
this is off topic but when I see other people play Bulwark and their banner doesnt have the team heal I kinda wanna leave group and play bulwark myself. Am I wrong for that?
If someone is underleveled, (anything below 23 for that perk), I won't give them shit, but if a bulwark is past the point where they should have that perk and they're not using it, it's usually a red flag for someone that isn't a good (or team) player. Hell I've kicked bulwarks that are too stingy with the banner, or only use it as their own personal "get out of poor decision making free" card. When I run bulwark I'm constantly eyeballing my battle brothers health and items so I can try and strategically throw that banner down when they're in a position to get health back, be it by execution or stim.
Try inferno on substantial and tell me it's not broken since patch... Wave density is gnarly for substantial. It's ruthless level difficulty. Way too difficult for lower level Marines trying to progress.
Goodbye forever then because they've already said they're not planning to add more factions, jusy flushing out and expanding the roster in the current ones
Well auto bolter, heavy bolt rifle, bolt carbine and occulust all still have botton tier dps, so not all of them are even goodish. Full auto guns in this game for some bizarre reason are at the bottom of DPS, even though they should be top of dps, as thats the only thing they got. They don't have high alpha or wide spread, nor are they super accurate. In every other game full auto guns have dps due to lack of other features compared to other gun types like snipers, semi auto guns and shotguns(meltas). This is a step in the right direction, but meta is still the same few guns that it was. Las fusil, heavy plasma, bolter with GL, meltas are still just better. Heavy bolter on heavy is the closest to be allowed into meta of the bolters. Rest range from ok(good) and down. Sniper and instigator should be goodish now.
I mean, the good bolt weapons like classic, instigator or heavy bolter have good DPS with headshots so they're much more ammo efficient but they don't have any stun on majoris or up so everyone uses melta.
@@anitaremenarova6662 They don't though. Raw numbers say you are wrong. Full auto guns have the worst dps tested by many different people. Facts don't care how you feel, so sorry mate.
Vanguard main here. Whole class is broke. not just the guns lol - and yeah i do NOT get why the occulus exists, much less on Vanguard. Why didnt he just get the same one the other two have? and the instigator is still weaker than the normal bolt carbine in all cases. I have tested the Occulus and Instigator. I can only tell you, go full dmg if you want them to have any use against Elites. They are great guns if you want you dodge around while hip firing, or keeping a horde under control, but comparatively to the Melta obliterating said horde, they just dont stack up to it. At best they are glorified target softeners, and they dont do that job very well. The Occulus cant even one shot HS basic a basic terminid beyond 10m, where the light bolt pistol can do it from quite far away. The instigator wastes 3 bullets to kill, and can fail to if you dont HS one of them at further distances. the best bolt weapon for Vanguard is by far the light bolt pistol, as its his only dueling weapon. Melee on him is also questionable at best. I mean Sniper has better self melee dmg buffs in one single perk, and he gets multiple. Vanguard cant even reach beyond 65% melee dmg buffs and he has to jump through too many hoops that he'll never get the chance to see them all stacked, in perfect play, beyond maybe a single light attack. its just sad. I already sent in a ticket for my broken class.
No it does not, heavy bolter(heavy class) has most then bolt sniper and stalker. The full auto guns are at the bottom even after the buffs as the have around half to 2/3 the dps of sem auto guns at best and that is really sad. To have the top dps they should have doubled the damage and still auto bolter would lose dps to Las Fusil, they were that bad before. Now better, buf far from good. Much like melee damage is bad. Try to kill majoris on ruthless with melee without gun strikes and you might just get how bad they are.
imagine snitching that you cant headshot a gaunt which takes like 1 bullet lmao these guys and reddit are really a joke. The devs should just follow their vision and lets these guys learn it the hard way.
@@slothlife5106 You don't have time to aim when there's a swarm you can headshot the first half a dozen before they reach you and then you hipfire between parrying. Actually play the game on a higher difficulty than average before commenting, sheesh.

I’d much rather have these smaller, incremental buffs, than a buff that’s too much, that has to be readjusted/nerf’d.
Oh 100%
glad they didnt pull a helldivers nerf the hell out of melta weapons instead of buffing bolt weapons
Yup, theyve taken small, careful hits to it to specialize its role more, and buffed other things up around it! Great stuff, they deserve credit for their methods
Developers making incremental changes due to community feedback. Love to see it.
My biggest problem with bolt rifle weapons wasn't primarily damage honestly. It is that they don't have their own identities. They just feel like better/worse versions of the same gun
-- heavy bolter should have a slower fire rate, smaller mag size, but crazy damage, with lower headshot multiplier but higher base damage and stagger values
-- auto bolt rifle should be fast firing, medium damage, with a big mag and great stability, but less stagger and a lower headshot multiplier
-- bolt carbine should have a damage multiplier when you're closer than 5m to the enemy you're shooting and should have a huge ammo reserve but smaller mag size and bad damage drop off past 15m or so
-- oculus should just be removed and the vanguard should get access to the auto bolt rifle instead (also the carbine)
-- the regular bolter and the stalker bolter are fine as they are
With these changes each bolt rifle would have it's own identity instead of feeling super generic
Bolter grenade launcher is insanity
Agreed that more of them need a gimmick, auto bolt is just a worse heavy rifle so it should have a laser for your targeting at least or something. Those two you mentioned and HBR are distinct enough but that's the only ones.

As much as you'd want to change em they're already like this is could imagine accuracy would matter if headset multiplier was higher why would you reduce headshots on the more accurate gun?
Totally AGREE!!!
The Heavy Bolter was always good, it just better now.
I had buddies that mained the heavy bolter and they fucking ripped with it pre patch, i am sure they are stoked to take the upgraded one out.

Considering the size of the bolt ammunition is supposed to be a soda can and the mass is a depleted uranium shell ... It better hit hard lol.
Depleted Deuterium
kind of silly, it would be impossible to carry any amount of ammunition
I always thought the bolt weapons (except for the occulus lol) were criminally underrated. Now they're even better!
Not underrated, just underpowered. Its fine in lower difficulties but on ruthless and lethal, melta>>>>
Yeah I already liked the standard bolt rifle for the tactical and the bolt sniper for the scout before patch.
As vanguard I use occulus carbine just because I hate burst fire weapons
To be honest I wondered if they wanted to give vanguard a bolt carbine, as that would suit the role and balance between long range burst fire and short ranged melta. Then someone realised how op that would make vanguard 😄
I'll give it a go at some point, though I like the chainsaw for crowd control and burst fire for picking out individual targets, especially when they're summoning reinforcements
I still use melta on Vanguard because it's the only shotgun-like option right now. Idk much about w40k lore but I hope vanguard gets more shotgun-like weapons in the future.
I've had a weird bug since the last patch where I can't double stomp or rev up my chainsword. Hopefully this patch fixes that.
The timing is terrible for some reason for double stomp...
i dont think theyve fixed it, i still cant get doube stomp to work
You gotta stop holding attack after the stomp starts, and hold it again while he finishes. It's super weird and took me like 30 mins to get to work lol
@@jackb4569you don’t want that perk anyways. Use the charge attack to do a two light then stomp attack.
Depending on the weapon speed, certain attacks just won’t come out or won’t happen consistently.
My favourite bolt weapon is still the standard Bolt Rifle, with or without the grenade launcher. But I do love how rapid and nifty the Bolt Carbine is. Am looking to get it to relic tier and use one of its Marksman variants.
If you like the base Bolt Rifle without the GL, the Marksman Carbine is the better version of that style imo. I think you will like it
@Zerosixious Yeah, I've seen a vid of someone else using it, and it looks really good. I'm only just reaching Artificer tier on my carbine right now, but it won't long before I'm there.
Have really liked using the heavy bolter so far as my main. The firepower/weapon feel is sooo satisfying. Can’t wait to play with the update!
Heavy bolter only got a 5% buff so it's unlikely you'll notice. Still, a great weapon. You'll never run out of ammo just wish the overheating wasn't as annoying.
it actually compounds out to more because it’s 5% to the base damage so all the damage perks multiply out from it. He talks about it at 5:06.
@@ace12342 Multiplies it to plus five percent. That's not how that works. Five percent is five percent no matter how you try to muck with the numbers. It's not ten percent more DPS, it's not fifteen percent more DPS, it's five percent.
@@viktoriyaserebryakov2755 Just watch the video 5:06. True Vanguard explains much better than I can why it’s a significant buff.
@@ace12342 And what made you accuse me of not watching it already? Five percent is five percent. The rate of fire is irrelevant and and five percent extra damage is insignificant to contested health. You don't see any actual testing or number crunching because he hasn't done any.

The Deathwatch Space Wolf in campaign has power axe. I've been waiting for that weapon since launch
Log off, Angron.
Do I detect a heretic ? 👀
No. The break point hasn't changed. Pre patch it took 14 HS on Majoris, post patch it takes 14 HS on Majoris to break them.
Wonderful, I don’t understand why they’d make these changes and not take into account break points
From what I've understood:
Auto bolt rifle: still pretty lackluster, heavy bolt rifle surpasses it in every single way, I don't know why this gun exists in the first place.
@@anitaremenarova6662 it's not convenient to fight crowds with basic bolt rifle. But yes, it kills majors relatively fast.
Sniper and Heavy will always be friends
Bolters are like the staple of Space Marines in terms of weaponry right next to chainswords, at least for me, so it makes all kinds of sense.
Love the layout of the video and how you didn’t beat around the bush - well done good sir 🫡
Meanwhile, the bolt pistol on my Bulwark might as well be shooting blanks for all the good it does.
Use plasma pistol, why tf would you ever use that peashooter
I would love to see a heavy bolt pistol on the bulwark one day
As a heavy main (my preferred class) the heavy bolter has absolutely improved.
And the Heavy Bolter should have a Penetration 1 perk.
i swore by the heavy bolter way before this update, even during the melta reign. heavy is just all around great
After leveling all heavy guns, I think there all great, heavy weapons all feel satisfying too use. I prefer the plasma and the heavy bolt.
I don't see any chance of storm bolter, as assault has no primary
@chrispierson7151 agree. Storm bolters are only able to be used one-handed by terminators, their recoil and fire rate is obscene in lore. Using one in regular tacticus armor would have the muzzle doing flips.

The main thing that needs to be worked on is the perks now. A lot of the perks are very situational or makes little impact on how effective it can be.
The semi auto bolt carbine feels even better now
Honestly a lot of them went from outright painful to use and closer to decent.

The auto bolt rifle feels even better at cutting those hordes of gaunts and its been fun leveling it up.
Can't wait to try out the bolt weapons again! I just played a Ruthless op and was very happy to see how much better the AI director is now.
So glad the AI director took a chill pill. Although a small, and i mean a *small* part of me misses the endless armory data from the constant bosses.
Trouble with this is that the ones people want to use are all tied to tactical, let us use our credits and armoury data to unlock more primary weapons for different classes

If you liked xyz weapon before, these changes dont change anything for you, if you didnt like xyz weapon before, it most likely didnt change how someone feels about xyz weapon, honestly the biggest reason for anyone that now suddenly likes one of these weapons is either placebo or they just didnt use it enough before, to learn that they liked it.

I was surprised the bolt pistol didn’t get anything.
I am seeing insta kills now on headshots from auto-bolt and heavy-bolt instead of just putting them on execute so it is a good improvement overall but I still think they need more damage increases, specifically the tactical bolters and carbines (with exception of stalker bolt maybe)
those always instagibbed with headshot, your aim just got better.

They all serve a purpose. I can replace a heavy with a tactical or sniper just fine. The only key thing heavy has is the range damage nullification. I like em all for different reasons.
@@Mr.Ford3350 Someone never played Heavy, you can carry teams all by yourself. Same can't be said for Bulwark who only has 18 shots from his plasma pistol and then is stuck with useless melee lmfao
They could leave it exactly how they are now. It feels just right.
No. Heavy bolter is the best and always was.
Free buff to my Mark Bolt? Hell yeah.
Can you test out the balance changes regarding the charged melee attacks? From the in game description nothing seems to have changed so I have no idea what the melee weapon perk changes are
Ngl i think most of the bolter weapons needed a buff in the ballpark of 20% and 50%. Especially those booty bolt carbines.
Other than bolter on heavy because it was already good, nothing really feels different.
I’m just being greedy now but I would love to duel wield pistols or carry two primary weapons
It was always better than the others.
If the win rates are too high I’m sure they’ll try something else.
after using the bolt sniper this morning, it still sucks in pve, relatively speaking.
U don't need 3 of em, even 2 is kinda overkill.
@tiber7672 I personally havent used the Plasma weapons, atleast not the one for the Heavy
Plasma weapons are actually stronger but they also have a much higher skill requirement.
I think people will just keep playing nade launchers, wide beams, and plasma bombs.
I like the heavy bolt rife more ngl, like a lot more
Imma have to give this new bolt sniper a go
All the bolt rifles needed a buff, some alot more than others
I hope you do your weapon spreadsheet again!
Heavy Bolt Rifle is now insane and has nearly infinite ammo lmfao.

As an Assault main I can't imagine playing this game with anything other than a hammer and HBP, how do you all do it?, it's so satisfying smashing shit, shooting BBs must feel ass.
Popping heads feels great regardless of the weapon you use though as an assault main I understand the appeal of HBP and chonky hammer.
The chainsword is slept on for assault. The speed that it's capable of, especially when you need to dodge an attack that can't be parried, is the biggest plus.
As for using the regular bolt pistol while playing assault... I got nothing there brother lol.
I’ve been unable to play since the 4.0 update hopefully this patch will fix that lol
this is off topic but when I see other people play Bulwark and their banner doesnt have the team heal I kinda wanna leave group and play bulwark myself.
I've only tried the Occulus and the Instigator and both felt bad, Instigator was obviously the better of the 2
Instigator is actually one of the good ones, the only issue is you get so little ammo.
Good buffs! Instigator should be 15% not 10% imo
Love it but it always feels mid
I still think the Las is the best option, stalker is there better of the two bolt options on sniper. The Bolt Sniper is still bad, needs another buff.
Do these weapon damage increases also pertain to Eternal ?
Try inferno on substantial and tell me it's not broken since patch... Wave density is gnarly for substantial. It's ruthless level difficulty. Way too difficult for lower level Marines trying to progress.

Goodbye forever then because they've already said they're not planning to add more factions, jusy flushing out and expanding the roster in the current ones
Glad its a small buff. if they made them too powerful and had to nerf them later, people would be more upset.

(Ignoring the fact grenade launcher was always meta)
3:22 when are they going to add a parry/unblockable attack aoe cooldown? So sick of stunlock
It wasn't unblockable he tried to gunstrike and the other blue attack hit him
Not really. The x1.0 multiplier for non-headshots won't save it. It's better but not by much.
My heavy bolter feels better to use than my melta rifle now. Melta feels to slow and takes 3 shots per majoris on average.
Hey iv been having my dlc heraldry skins reset every time I purchase a sucessor skin do yall know anything about it?
Amongst all the bolters. Auto bolts has nearly the highest DPS, losing only to Bolt carbine.
No it doesn't lol, the headshot multiplier is so tiny it's literally the WORST option hitting for less than the shltty starting bolt pistol.
Full magazine to kill a warrior, 4-6 shots to kill a gaunt. XD
imagine snitching that you cant headshot a gaunt which takes like 1 bullet lmao these guys and reddit are really a joke. The devs should just follow their vision and lets these guys learn it the hard way.
@@slothlife5106 melta can one shot gaunts anywhere 10+ at a time. Your point ?
Definitely skill issue. Get good.
@@Ooguuay XD
@@slothlife5106 You don't have time to aim when there's a swarm you can headshot the first half a dozen before they reach you and then you hipfire between parrying. Actually play the game on a higher difficulty than average before commenting, sheesh.
