@@JosephSmith-md6tp Switchfoot is my favorite band! I have been recently listening a lot to Relient K and they are really awesome. Any albums you recommend?
relient k and switchfoot were my favorite bands wayyy back in the day. omg I used t be so in love with matt and jon. 13 year old me woudve flipped seeing these two in the same room together lol gosh that was like 11 years ago!!! D:
koriethegiraffe You and me both! I'm turning 24 in less than a month here, so we are about the same age, I think I'm slightly younger. But I've liked them too for just as long. I'm looking forward to all their new things that will come out.
honest answers. great to hear. these gents are using the gifts God gave them. i love how they let the music speak as it will to each person. Praise the Lord!!.
I think we need more Christian artist who will bravely write songs about the darker side of things but bring Christ to them or course. Show how God pulled them out of the holes people can and have fallen into and show just how amazing and powerful Jesus is and how He can save people - "convinced that angels nor demons or anything else can separate us from the love of God and Christ Jesus".
@jthomas5o1 Agreed. I love the earlier albums the most, but man some of those lyrics were cringe worthy at best. I almost feel embarrassed listening to em today. Top notch musicianship at times though.
@jthomas5o1 We need writers who go about their craft with compassion and sensitivity to the world their music is going out to. It makes me think that it's good for artists to make music that sounds like the current style so it can connect with the present moment and people. At the same time, seeking to be the best artists they can. It's a big job for sure.
The interviewees were very gracious to the interviewer. The interviewer was probing for good answers. He acted like he already knew them, even though everything he went off of had to do with the information and even controversy surrounding their public image. Huge problem. But Matt, Matt, and Jon were very patient and gracious.
I'd be interested to know what those musicians are that John mentioned toward the end of the interview, that he said are "arguably the best musicians on the planet."
16:30 When I record songs, when it's really hummin', it works like this: You listen to the song that exists, and you will hear something that doesn't exist. It's like one voice added to all the other sounds, and sometimes it's weird, and sometimes it's really quiet, and sometimes it's really loud, and you have to hear it and figure out what thing makes a sound like that and how to make that sound on that thing and record yourself making it and then you listen back and you'll hear something else. My word for them is "angel voices", because it sounds like some Archproducer angel is soloing angels and groups of angels in some song that they're already singing, and they have to dumb it down 1000% so I can even comprehend any of it. Sometimes you hear a bunch of the song all at once and it's a little too much, but that's usually how the overall message comes at fist. I'm very slowly getting better at each individual part of that. It all starts with a title, of course.
Hey jon! I met you in Walla Walla university! I asked you if you were part of the band( I have alwaus up to that point had seen you with kind of long hair and a thick 5 o'clock shadow) and you said"sometimes" lol you were playing a bass uke! I asked if you would play oh gravity ! That night you didn't play it however you wrote it on the play list! I appreciate that you thought about playing it!
The guy from Relient K would look less scary with a haircut. I mean he use to have that whole pre-emptive Michael Cera thing going on. Also look less crazily happy in the Noddies... and don't crossfade
It's really sad how "Christian Music" denies Jesus and supports homosexuality. It's their obsession. No other issue, no other faith, captivates these artists like homosexuality does.
@@fernieboy6195 Niigga they both straight. Matt is looking up tho his hero in person.. Also matt seems like he has social anxiety which can make it seem like ur looking too far into shit. Just chill out and see where they come from and who they are before u make these judgements
I love me some Relient K, but this band is a shell of itself. I feel they've completely lost their ability to write a song that compares to their old shit.
Literally my two favorite bands when i was in 7th grade
haha backhanded compliment.
rastastylee38 switchfoot is still my favorite by far.
My 2 favorite bands then and now lol.
my favorite since I was born

Staying true to themselves in an industry that doesn’t want that. Their reward will be much greater than money or fame. Very special.

Yeah Brother Relient K, Switchfoot and more bands like those for ever . Thanks to God for their lives 💙🤗
Honesty and the joy of the moment, those are incredible tips for musicians.
I love the honesty of these guys. The way that they do not beat around the bush is rare.
anyone else absolutely love the awkward tension in this interview?😂😂😂 you can feel it from the start 😂

Matt looks a bit different than his "Be My Escape" and "Must've Done Something" Right days.
When relient k come out with new album??
There is something off about this interview, everyone seems concerned with something
Great discussions...

They're straight. I think Matt just has sociability difficulties. Please don't just assume things like that.
