    The unit is ok. In our condo complex, about 3 of these units were defective due to wiring problems straight out of the factory. A nightmare for service technicians. Another problem is the attachment of the white plastic accent strips around the doors and drawers. Service techs have to apply double-sided tape so the plastic won't come loose and jam the doors. Most users find the ice maker way too slow. The price of the replaceable water filter for the ice is ridiculous and you are asked to replace it 2X per year. Many people simply turn off the ice maker and fill simple trays. The bucket can be removed to allow for more storage space. The door hinges do work well, but ensure give them a good push, as they can remain open on you. At least there is an alarm system if you don't check that the door fully closes.
    Consumer reports gives F&P fridges a very low score.

    I have a question about the height of the open cavity required to fit this fridge. Most non-built-in or non-integrated fridges with a 36 inch width usually come with a 71 inch height. In the video, what's the height of the open cavity?

    I’d love any updated thoughts on this refrigerator, have you had any complaints on it since making this video?

    Does anyone know if I can use this fridge as a stand alone...just putting it into a space for a fridge where only 2 of the sides are covered (back and left)? Where the right hand side is exposed a bit. Let me know thank you.

    Hi- does anyone know if you can fit a gallon of milk in the door? I am worried about the smaller capacity of this fridge relative to a counter depth fridge. Thanks

    Looking at 2 refrigerators: RS36A80J1N and RS36A72J1N, pretty much identical fridge, one is 72" tall and the other is 80" tall, but the FP website states their volume = identical = 16.8 cuft?? any thoughts?

    • @Chanmantroop10
      @Chanmantroop10 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the height diff is just cosmetic. both are the same fridge but you would just get s taller front panel. I have the 80 height and it also comes in 84 height. it's ridiculous bc the fridge itself is prob like a 72 but the top just extends higher to achieve a taller look. realistically anything higher than a 72 would be too high for the avg person to reach up and grab items.

    I installed custom panels on one and it was complicated . Even though we followed the manual very well.

    • @ApplianceBuyersGuide
      @ApplianceBuyersGuide  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can tell you from personal experience, installing panels on integrated refrigerators from most brands is very complicated. Sub-Zero's are the easiest in my experience but even those take lots of time and patience. This is why installation quotes on integrated refrigerators are always very high and customers usually think they are way too high -- but they don't understand the time and skill it takes to install integrated panels correctly.

      Every Built in Refrigerator panel installation the first time is tedious and time consuming at best. if you are a professional appliance installer or carpenter after the second set it is quite easy. If you are a DIY then it will take some time to lay out the brackets and do it right the first time FYI the SS panels are easier as they are pre drilled

    Thank you for an excellent video and overview. Two questions for you: we're contemplating placing the fridge perpendicular to a wall of cabinetry (it is the most logical spot). How far do the doors open beyond the 90 degrees i.e. how much clearance would we need to make sure the doors don't hit the cabinets. Second question: how much can we reasonably expect to pay for installation? I saw your comment below that applying panels is very tricky (we'll have ours made to match our cabinetry), just want to budget properly. Thanks a lot in advance.

      The spec sheet from Fisher and Paykels website will show the exact degree of door opening. However I do believe it is somewhere around 110 degrees. Specs will show clearance required as well. You could expect to pay anywhere between 325-425 for proper installation.

    • @LinwoodPowell

      You should screw the hooks on the body of the fridge. Then attach the handles to the hooks.

      FISHER & PAYKEL APPLIANCES was originally a New Zealand company. It is the sister company of FISHER & PAYKEL HEALTHCARE. The appliances company had a great portion of its shares sold to China and its products/parts largely come from there. Unlike the appliances company., Fisher & Paykel Healthcare is wholly New Zealand owned - thank goodness. It’s nice to know that we still own this company that has been supplying great volumes of healthcare products to the USA and around the world during this pandemic. I hope this little bit of info is helpful to those of you who are wondering where the above refrigerator comes from.
