@@insertfunnyhandlehere I would argue both Cap and Gambit have superhuman agility. In the case of Cap the super soldier serum puts him at peak human walking around, but with adrenaline or bloodlust his agility becomes superhuman. When we look at Gambit, his superhuman agility is mentioned numerous times in the Jim Lee run. I have the omnibus and it's mentioned by wolverine and rogue while playing basketball, also *Gladiator* of all people mentions it while they're fighting. Gladiator: *"Your agility saved you the last time we met"*
Gambit is the Quintessential Glass Cannon. He might have extreme explosive power and the Dexterity to land every shot but if his opponent can make contact then he is done.
I remember Rogue whooped him in their fight after Age of Apocalypse in X Men #45..the book that revealed Gambit was Sinister's lackey pre Mutant Massacre.
At that time the X-MEN could have been destroyed , but Rogue discovered this and stopped him before Gambit could initiate his plot! Somehow in the future Gambit will still commit some insane act that'll make Rogue wise up and leave his Cajon behind, then I hope they re-materialize Wonder Man, Rogue finally see's her equal in being a superhero, then that premonition I saw in 1981 will finally come full circle. According to premonition, Rogue and Wonder Man rise to true prominence in the superhero plane! When I had that premonition, I couldn't go around telling people for fear of being labled insane, but now it's beginning, Rogue is about to find out how truly heroic she really is and at first be afraid because drama and angst is always part of mutant life, but then she'll face Gambit one more time, then bring him in for his crimes against the X-MEN!
Most mutants even the strong betas/alphas don't have superhuman everything like Wolverine surprisingly. Some of them are still regular humans in certain areas. I think Captain would win the fight but they didn’t give Gambit the skills he normally has to make this a memorable fight. Gambit is still my favorite between the two of them.
It pretty much depends on the writer and for what purpose he's using the characters, in this case Gambit was used to show just how " awesome " C. A is and that Gambit can't hold a candle to him creating inconsistency all over.
The way I see it is Caps serum gives him the advantage because it boosts his thought process speed. So he'd target and execute his moves before gambit can react, even if they have similar agility - gambit fan

Just like how Gambits fighting style is slept in Caps strength is as well. Canon wise 616 C.A. can lift around 2+ tons (he's thrown manhole covers, 80-160 lbs, as shield subs before) while Ultimate C.A. could lift & throw about 20-40 tons. So that strength & focused attack married with his above Olympic speed would KO Gambit that quick since the force woulda been about a base ball bat strike to the face! Gambit hasn't taken to many of those cause his face is money!
Four panels?! I've had Gambit vs. Captain America fights on Marvel vs. Capcom last longer than that! I do remember thinking Cap was being disrespectful to Gambit by not giving him attention the first time I read this fight.

A punch from Cap is like getting smacked in the face by a 60 lb dumbbell... I'm not surprised that it would knock Gambit out. Although, Gambit with all of his skills, near superhuman agility, and Savate should have been able to dodge or deflect such a standard punch with ease. Cap would win in end, but it's doubtful it should have been this easy
Awesome play-by-play Rob. Both of these men are two among my favorite Marvel Knights, although I think Gambit could've lasted longer, Steve Roger's is comparatively stronger than LeBeau, but Remy is extremely agile...almost equal to someone like the Black Panther! The second generation Marvel Collector card listed Gambit's agility as a 4 or 5 out of 7 if I remember correctly. All power levels of Marvel characters are rated out of 7. Just in case you never collected them from '91-'93.
I know one thing though. That’s not how it would go down in either MvC1 or MvC2. In MvC gambit has a piss easy infinite corner combo and in MvC2 he has a glitch that makes him fly off the screen never to be seen again. 😂

A little known aspect of Gambit's mutation. While he cannot charge living/biological objects, the amniotic energies flowing through his body also enhances his physical strength, speed, endurance, agility, and reaction time are at peak human levels regardless of exercise. However, when charging his energies, his physical abilities are heightened to superhuman levels. So anyone saying he shouldn't be able to keep up with Steve Rogers, it's more accurate to say Cap was keeping up with him. That being said, you could probably count one one hand the number of ppl who could take Cap in a straight fight and the Raging Cajun is, unfortunately, not one of them. He an't no #$%, though is what I'm saying.
Anyone want to hear a full video on Gambit's powers and history check out the TH-cam channel Shack House. He just dropped a video on Gambit 12 days ago and he covers marvel characters in general and X-Men/mutants in spastic
I got hit by my friend with a few months of boxing training and it felt like a car ran into my bicep. A no holds barred punch from Cap straight to he chin should be lethal with that comparison in my mind.
I had time to think overnight. If anyone goes up against Cap and he throws his shield, if it is caught on the first throw then Cap has lost period. If it is dodged or gracefully deflected then the fight has potential. But any skill with added mutant power is a done deal. Not even Stevel could take Gambit😂
New Sun was one hell of a ride back when Wolverine and Gambit shared a comic together, It was his final run before it was switched to Wolverine and Deadpool.
Rob, talked about Gambit being able to suggest as a power ignoring the powers Captain America holds, inspiration, admiration and respect. It is hard for people to go against people they admire, respect and are inspired by. Did Gambit hold back (more than likely), in various times of crisis Captain America is the ralley caller, the one whose leadership inspires the Marvel heroes to fight harder. So pause for a bit, and think about it. Awesome telling as usual, loved it.
In the comics, Cap's shield is unique Adamantium/Vibranium alloy. Gambit's power is turning an object's potential kinetic energy into explosive energy. That's why Gambit charging a card card causes less damage than if he charged and threw a baseball. The baseball has more potential with a larger mass and inertia when thrown to create much more kinetic energy than a card. Vibranium, however, absorbs energy and redirects it back at an equal opposing force when hit. That is why Cap blocking a hit from Thor's hammer doesn't break Cap's arm or mash Cap flat underneath the shield. It deprives whatever force energy Thor's hammer gives off with an opposite force in the other direction, robbing the potential kinetic energy of its potential. So, Gambit is unable to create any explosive force because the shield negates it. 1 + (-1) = 0
Think about it like this Wolverine can't outright beat Captain America. Although he doesn't have a healing factor(peak human healing) Captain America doesn't get tired. Just about every character you can think of will get tired before him.
Captain America is often misunderstood as some normal guy that's just in peek physical condition, but if you look at the established limits to his strength, speed, etc he's actually sub-superhuman across the board, playing as a sort of Jack-of-all-trades. The idea that ANYONE without enhanced strength, speed, etc, like the Cap himself, can stand toe to toe with Steve Rogers is outrageous, so unless Gambit has above-human levels of ability, Rogers genuinely would mop the floor with Gambit. It wouldn't even be close. Imagine a man with more striking power than Mike Tyson who can ALSO run faster than Husan Bolt (spelling?), AND tougher than any kungfu monk breaking boards against his body, AND mastered most of, if not all of, the important martial art styles wanted to fight YOU. Think you'd stand a chance against that guy? Only things going for Gambit is his explosions and his staff, he has no chance of winning if not for those.
Very accurate. Even the tamest estimate of Steve Rodgers I have heard is peak Olympian in every aspect. So he can run as fast as Bolt, as long as a marathon runner, while throwing punches and kicks like the best martial artist. Oh, and he has decades of fighting experience so he can throw changeups too. He also has the reaction time and aim of skeet shooters. Oof. Gambit being a kickboxer works against him as well, since Steve can easily defeat the strengths and expose the weaknesses. Closing the distance, reacting to any outside strikes, taking any knee shots, and the whole time just overpowering Gambit with his fists.
Narratively speaking Steve Roger is what an Evolved human would be. He is seen holding up objects that weight tens of tons over his head, capable of sprinting along side high way traffic, dives depths way below anyone else every known without special gear, etc.. He even saw himself as a Super-Human thus the reason why he registered himself as one under the "Super Human Registration Act".
Well Gambit does have enhanced speed, strength, agility, stamina and reactions. In a fist fight he should lose but not that quickly. Especially not when using his other powers. Caps greatest ability is plot armor. He has whatever levels of power needed for the story. Cap has survived things that any non-superhuman shouldnt be able to survive. Like gambit blows up the suit he is wearing and the guy doesnt even have a scratch on him..
Gambit survived an encounter with Gladiator back in the 90s. Charged a full deck at once and machine gunned him. It was enough to get away from him. What we had in AVX was neither of these guys going all out.
No issue with Cap winning but common on, he got his suit charged and they treated it like a love tap. That's practically like catching a grenade to the chest and he's walking it off like someone threw a basketball at him really hard. The shield catch and throw was awesome though.
@@Koooo4 that's what I'm saying. Gambit could've charged any object Steve had on him (including his helmet), he should at LEAST have some gaping wounds.
Absolutely nobody is as bigger Gambit Stan than i am... that being said... he lost this fight before it started. Cap is the last person you want to fight with arrogance or over confidence. He is powerful enough to beat Cap... but Cap just got that glow when he is determined and doesn't have time; let alone if you manage to force him to step up his game. Hurts... but it's nothing less or more than i would expect from either of them at that time.
I mean, Cap is always a shoo in for wins. But they really played Gambit wrong on this. Every X Men is a danger or menace for a reason. That's why Xavier hand picked them for his personal team. Gambit not matching Cap's strength or even over powering him was kinda offbeat. He cahrge himself. Give himself enhanced strength. Just not to others/organics. Or he could have out maneuvered or even matched Caps agility. Caps only physical feat he, probably, has over Gambit is stamina. Talking about who has fought Wolverine, Sabertooth and Apocalypse AND walked away with his life.
Yeah... These fights are definitely having the avengers win because they need them to win for the story not because that's actually how a fight would go down.
In my opinion, Gambit is underrated as a hand-to-hand combatant. Don't get me wrong, I know that he can hold his own and then some, otherwise he wouldn't last like he has done. The real test for the Cajun would be to face fighters who are just as good if not better: Shang-Chi,Taskmaster, Iron Fist,Karnak, etc. The fight between Gambit and Captain America was a showcase of sorts;in which the reader gets sucked in,seeing from a safe distance. To witness every punch, kick, throw and tackle ,the reader knows that it has to end, but hoping that it doesn't. The outcome of the fight isn't a surprise: Captain America has fought enhanced and super-powered beings for much of his publication history, but it seems that Gambit had almost pushed the super soldier to his limit. If it wasn't for his attention being divided, Captain America might have finished the fight that much sooner. That is my thoughts on the matter...what are yours?
I understand Captain America is stronger then Gambit but not smarter his name is literally a jack of all trades. And barely winning over captain America but not that quick this is a man who fought Sentinels
I can see Gambit losing. It's unfortunate his powers are (no pun intended) Capped by the lobotomy, but having that undone would be bad writing. They could build on his "Jack of all trades" element and give him another small power likining to his hypnotic suggestion. Have it so, depending on the suit of the card he throws the effect is different. Spade is explosive, heart is hypnotic, ect. Then he has to use these lesser powers together in creative ways.
Gambit’s stock has really dropped since the ‘90s. In his peak popularity and Cap’s lowest level, writers would’ve likely let Gambit win or at least show even better. Cap would’ve been knocked out from the charged chain mail. Hell, Gambit killed the Tithe Collector in the fourth issue of his first mini series by charging his tenchcoat.
As someone thats been a Big fan of Gambit since the 90's, i think this fight was pretty accurate. Like Rob was saying, fighting Captain America while he's multitasking is *ENTIRELY* different than fighting a Captain America thats *Focused* lol Dont forget, not only is Cap a *Master Tactician,* but he's ALSO a Super Soldier thats prodigious in several different fighting styles......I'd argue this is Very similar to how an acual fight between these two would go, Especially since neither were *Planning* on this fight, they simply ran into each other 🤔
He may have the Super Soldier serum, but it doesn't make him superhuman in the 616. According to Marvel Comics Cap is not superhuman, he is peak human. Having an explosion going off against his unprotected chest, since it's literally his armor that is exploding, would have killed him. According to Marvel the power of the explosions from Gambit's charged items is dependent on the mass of the item. The type of armor Cap wears once charged would have been more than enough to blow Cap to pieces, since Gambit's playing cards have the explosive capacity of a grenade.
Let us not forget that they were also fighting to incapacitate the other. Cap would not kill Gambit under any means because.. its Steve rogers man. And Gambit would not kill Steve rogers, Captain America. He has a degree of respect for the guy and what he stands for, its just something they both disagree on, so its fisticuffs. And Cap is MILES better at disarming and incapacitating a foe than Gambit, as much as I love Remy. If Gambit was more ruthless? Then it would be Cap vs New Sun. And we were already given how that goes.
@@TheRouza I agree he wouldn't intentionally attempt to kill him. My point is that Cap wouldn't be getting up completely unscathed. But let's be truthful the explosion was enough that it destroyed almost the entirety of his tunic, that large of an explosion that close to his chest would nearly kill a normal human. So Cap getting back up after the explosion like it was just an inconvenience is ridiculous.
I feel like Gambit would have had the W if it was a real 1v1. My beef regarding these AVX was that they were fast and sloppy. but I do think Cap v Gambit was the most creative one and realist comic wise we saw.
this kinda makes sense in some way, I mean if Gambit had a game plan it couldve played out differently but he should be outpaced by Cap in hand to hand combat so meh in this context it makes sense
They would never try to kill each other, too much blowback. Cap always try's to go easy on you at first, also because he's way older and has a grandfather's gentleness too him, but if you piss him off all the years of experience, fighting styles and super soldier serum are unbeatable. This is no contest, Gambit LOSES!!!
While I would agree with you, under normal circumstances Cap would beat Gambit. However, the way this specific fight played out the result would be Cap either being unconscious, in critical condition, or dead. Cap in the 616 is not superhuman, he has no invulnerability, and Gambit just caused an explosion equal to more than a grenade right against his unprotected chest.
@@jormungaurd I'd like to assume that Gambit was trying not to hurt him too much and wished to stun or soften him up more to even the field then give him a knock out blow.
@IStevenSeagal He is peak human durability, it is not superhuman. Yes, he is more durable than normal humans, but his durability isn't superhuman. The Super Soldier Serum made him into a peak human specimen, think of it as a step above Olympic Level Athlete, but not quite on the superhuman level. This is just looking at the 616 version of the character. Some version of Cap, such as the Ultimates version, were given superhuman levels of strength and durability but the 616 version of the comics was not. Remember Gambit's power makes things explode based on the mass of what was changed. Just a playing card explodes with the power equal to a hand grenade. So something with the mass of Cap's tunic would cause a heck of a lot more damage. Even with peak human durability Cap wouldn't be walking away after an explosion right up against his chest without a scratch on him. Usually, when Cap faces an explosion like this he has his armor to protect him, in this case, it's his armor itself that's exploding so it wouldn't provide any protection.
@IStevenSeagal The MCU, to a point, is based on the Ultimates comics where Cap does have some superhuman attributes. In mainstream 616 comics, Cap isn't superhuman according to Marvel Comics official description. According to the description, Cap is a step above Olympic-level athletes but not quite superhuman.
When you got a guy who’s a master tactician, top tier martial artist, has enhanced mental processing and reflexes and could bench a bus I would think a single punch is all he needs if he was focused

Ok nice. gambits fans are right now way that easy Mona me 😅 chill vid!!
Most mutants even the strong betas/alphas don't have superhuman everything like Wolverine surprisingly. Some of them are still regular humans in certain areas. So it makes sense that a peak human like Captain America can wreck Gambit easily.
Even in real life a big dude without fighting skills can still get his ass kicked by a small dude who is an elite MMA fighter.😂😂
@@markstriker925I like that though It's realistic when it comes to power set. Most fans that don't know power levels and storylines are mad that Gambit got beat by Cap, but it makes sense in a non-bias way being loyal to both characters.
In the 92' Jim Lee Fleer X-Men Cards and as Seen in X-Men #4 or 5. During Gambit's basketball game against wolverine. Gambit has Super human agility. Glad you mentioned the hypnotisim. Infinity War Gambit doppleganger charged organics.

Gambit forgot one of the most important dbd rules:
Rogues aren't front line fighters.
If he wanted the W, he was gonna need to out think Cap. Dunno if he could have pulled it off, but being deceptive instead of head on would've helped him last more than four panels of Caps attention at least.
I think Captain would win the fight but they didn’t give Gambit the skills he normally has to make this a memorable fight. Gambit is still my favorite between the two of them.
Yeah gambit definitely is more agile between the two
It pretty much depends on the writer and for what purpose he's using the characters, in this case Gambit was used to show just how " awesome " C. A is and that Gambit can't hold a candle to him creating inconsistency all over.
@@IcemansArmy is he tho? Cap is literally described as having Olympic level agility.
The way I see it is Caps serum gives him the advantage because it boosts his thought process speed. So he'd target and execute his moves before gambit can react, even if they have similar agility - gambit fan
@@khepribanfield9819 Ok no. That bullshit about the thought process speed always bothers me thanks to Hawkeye, he's a normal ass human who is not only incredible fast but accurate with his sight to the peek of human perfection, if the serum gave Cap even more than that how the heck is anyone capable of catching and throwing back his metal Frisbee? That's the inaccurate shit I always have a problem with comics .
The artists did Gambit dirt as heck with that panel of him getting punched by Cap. I can almost hear the sound Gambit would have made.
Thanks for another good video Rob. Cap probably should have taken SOME damage from his suit exploding, beside his pride?
Anyway... Bo = staff

Let me also throw out there then outside of Danger Room training.

Gambit: Da South South shall rise
Captain America: excuse me?!
Gambit survived gladiator more than once. Gambit is a lot more nimble than captain America and the overcoat is part of his fighting style
And cap sparred with Hercules and fought both the X men and avengers before
I thought Gambit's staff was made of adamantium. Clearly this one was not. I definitely think Gambit should have had a better showing here. I remember thinking that the first time I read thru it.

Let's be honest, no plot armor, no writers bias, no holding back, just a straight fight. Gambit wins every time.
Need a round two to this fight
the obvious strat for Gambit, who should've practiced this idea daily, would be to charge Cap's shield, throw it and then immediately follow up with a fast attack like throwing his playing cards... never knew he had a hypnotic power
Gambit can't charge adamantium / vibranium alloy and actuall make it explode...he has limits

I love this! Been waiting on a cap vs gambit
When did cap lv up I though he was at about a ton
3:36 holy shxt🔥🔥🔥🔥
Four panels?! I've had Gambit vs. Captain America fights on Marvel vs. Capcom last longer than that! I do remember thinking Cap was being disrespectful to Gambit by not giving him attention the first time I read this fight.
Awesome! Thanks for making this vs stuff. I love it!
As a gambit fan, I truly adore this fight. Not every fight has to be 100 panels long; and given how short it is. It still manages to be a memorable one. I still till this day won't forget how cool it was when gambit charged up capt armor
Gotta love how losers pretend to be from the "other side" online to try and pretend they are happy with the results, get a life.

Gambit might of got tired while cap doesn't exhaust his stamina is part of his super power
Straight to the point and simple gabbit should have won this fight
i remember reading this for the first time and thinking "ooooo you don fucked up now" goodtimes lol
I know one thing though. That’s not how it would go down in either MvC1 or MvC2. In MvC gambit has a piss easy infinite corner combo and in MvC2 he has a glitch that makes him fly off the screen never to be seen again. 😂
You are the best Rob can you please do a story on the iperal guard of the shi ar and it members they are very powerful and caught my attention when they fought the X-men over the life of Jean Greay thank you

I think Gambit held back. He wasn't trying to kill the guy after all
Cap wasn’t trying to kill neither lol
This why I love gambit❤
Digging these alot brother. I only get spawn spiderman and venom right now so I appreciate the X-Men videos the most. Helps me revisit or dive into books I can't get.
I loved the writers' fight commentary on so the AvX fights
As soon as I seen that thumbnail I immediately said to myself "that's that time Cap whooped Gambits ass while talking on the phone" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Woot. Love Gambit.
I'm a huge Gambit I think it's more Gambit arrogance under estimating Captain America in this instance.
Awesome telling as usual, loved it.
wait wait wait....Gambit charged the shield....why didn't it blow up?
😅 it would never go like this in Marvel versus Capcom 2
"You have my undivided attention now." It was at this moment I knew.....Gambit f*cked up.
FOR JEDI ACOLYTE 26:
ROB JEFFERSON, HEAR OUR CRY CHARACTER EXPLAINED/ MAMMOTH MOGUL(ARCHIE), DURGE(STAR WARS), ENERJAK(ARCHIE)
Who the hell thinks Cap is a normal guy? Lol
Thats because Cap tanks grenades.. his skin is much durable than normal.
Cap's suit explodes and he doesnt even have a single scratch.. Quite obvious who the writer wanted to win the fight lol
@@Koooo4 that's what I'm saying. Gambit could've charged any object Steve had on him (including his helmet), he should at LEAST have some gaping wounds.
Cap dies by bullets and explosion but I still agree with cap wining.
@@SpikeTheWolf everyone dies from bullets and explosions.. poor argument.
cap has been on a tear in the last couple of months lmao
Absolutely nobody is as bigger Gambit Stan than i am... that being said... he lost this fight before it started. Cap is the last person you want to fight with arrogance or over confidence. He is powerful enough to beat Cap... but Cap just got that glow when he is determined and doesn't have time; let alone if you manage to force him to step up his game. Hurts... but it's nothing less or more than i would expect from either of them at that time.
I have absolutely no problem with how this turned out, nor how it played out.
I say Gambit. He did a similar Attack on apocolypse and put him down for longer than Cap stayed down.
Patiently waiting for the Spider-Man vs collosus and magik
New drinking game. Take a shot every time Rob says “capable”
It is extreeeemely cool that he used captain Americas shield against him but ya he can’t compete against Cap
Poor Gambit! lmao
You know Cap through his shield through a tank right
Marvel got me with these Verses books. I bought them all. I enjoyed AvX, Civil War, Fear Itself.
I can dig it. Cap doesn't EVER go hard against humans. The Cajun convinced him to go hard... so Cap put him down for a little nappypoo. 😂
Marvel Comics has always diminished mutants like Gambit, Jubilee, and Beast for ages.
Gambit should have said sorry like Tony did to Hulk🤣🤣🤣
Since when does cap have superhuman durability because he shrugged off that explosion?
@IStevenSeagal seriously that blast had to be stronger than his normal blast which are grenade lv
Hey Rob, can you do a video on Madame Webb? Since the trailer dropped, I would love to see a comic explained video on her.
Then he has to use these lesser powers together in creative ways.
hey Gambit! GRAB HIM!!! i was emotionally destroyed when i red this comic...
Love captain america. There's absolutely no quit in him, to the point where he might be Marvels version of the black night in Monty Python.
@jormungaurd Marvel can say something, and the very next issue they can completely forget about it 😂😂
Let us not forget that they were also fighting to incapacitate the other.
@@jormungaurd I think it would've killed a regular human.
I feel like Gambit would have had the W if it was a real 1v1. My beef regarding these AVX was that they were fast and sloppy. but I do think Cap v Gambit was the most creative one and realist comic wise we saw.
Haha.. i like this. Gambit vs Cap is classic Marvel
this kinda makes sense in some way, I mean if Gambit had a game plan it couldve played out differently but he should be outpaced by Cap in hand to hand combat so meh in this context it makes sense
Super strength isnt a Gambit thing but Cap has Super Soldier serum strength in his blood.
It's crazy how fans act when their favorite character looses. They still wanna argue. Cap whupped Gambit, we all just saw it!
If Disney had the rights to the X-Men during this time, then gambit would have taken out half the avengers alone.
Terrible take Tony's suit would neutralize the charge of gambit and redirect to beat him lol
Beyond omega level: The divine creator
Idk caps got years of war battling experiences legend
Oh Yeah!
I've always loved Gambit ever since the cartoon, but my boy wouldn't stand a chance against Cap.
When you got a guy who’s a master tactician, top tier martial artist, has enhanced mental processing and reflexes and could bench a bus I would think a single punch is all he needs if he was focused
No one should be upset when your favorite gets beaten by Cap. Cap always has a plan!
Yes the greasy sleazy Cajun that throws stuff well that goes Boom vs the worlds ultimate fighting machine with a shield that says NO to most everything. 😂
