- I recently got a deal on a Suzuki King Quad 300 for $200. It has a few problems, and it's missing the ignition switch, but let's dive in and see if we can get it running today!

Found my king quad with a free sign on it by the side of the road across from my favorite river spot. A little gas, a fresh battery, and a twist to “prime” if the peacock and she chooched to life! It’s in rough shape, but it’s a very capable machine, and I love it. 👍
Wow, that’s cool!! I need to get my king quads fixed up. I just got an LT160 last week as well. It’s a fun little quad!
That thing is in such better shape than the one I paid $1500 for. Deal. These are Great machines built for the long haul.
I love those old king quads. They might be ugly, but they're so cool.
I pulled an old King Quad out of a dump in Alaska and rebuilt it with spare parts from other quads, got it up to 70 mph on a frozen lake that winter, at one point I was going sideways and then backwards but it was fun nonetheless.
Very cool! That’s great you were able to save one of these amazing ATV’s. I didn’t know they could go 70… I’ve only gotten mine up to 45-50 if I remember right.
Unfortunately mine have both been sitting for probably a year or so needing some fuel system and other minor work. I need to get them going again!
just bought mine 3 days ago, took it out and i love this machine.
They are pretty cool! I need to get mine back up and running well, I’ve let them sit for awhile.

My dad baught one of these in 1997, and it starts every time.

The trip meter has more miles than the odo? That bike spent it's entire life in a Grateful Dead parking lot. Edit for: Thanks for the inspiration. Makes me wanna see if I can get mine going.
Yeah, kinda odd! Maybe the gearing for the two is very slightly different somehow. Probably the only way someone would notice it is a situation like this where the trip has never been re-set.

I'm certainly no expert, is it possible that one of the meters is an hour meter, and one is an odometer? Great video, thanks!

But no, based off my experience on my other King Quad, it is an odometer and a trip meter. Thanks for watching!
@@garagestory Someone neglected to roll the trip meter all the way back to 000, they probably left it at 888 and it kept counting up from there.
The fuel tank was that nasty with old fuel but the carb didn’t need cleaned?

Recently had one of these come up for sale near me. It's a '98 asking $2,700 and it has 2,900 miles on it. I don't have much experience with quads so I am not sure if that pricing is fair or not. Curious your thoughts. For sure isn't $200 lol
I don’t know your area, but that sounds really high. I think half of that would be reasonable.

Help, I acquired a Suzuki quad 250. Set outside for several years. I rebuilt carb and got it to run. Have not installed air cleaner yet. Idles perfectly. Throttle ups great when first starts then will not throttle up. Backfires a little when attempting to throttle up. Is my problem due to not installing the air filter? Thanks
It could be. Is the diaphragm on top of the carb damaged? It’s a vacuum operated slide, so if the rubber diaphragm that ‘raises’ the slide is torn etc., it may not be raising the slide.

I have a 2000 king quad that will only run in super slow. If I switch to slow or high it's as if it were in neutral. Please help 🙏
I haven’t dealt with that, but my first thought is your shifter cable/linkage might be out of adjustment.

GREAT machine!!...and fun video. I agree they are awesome and so impressive with the gearing and 4wd system. I bought a 2000 KQ 300 in green from Michigan in 2013 with a 1000 miles on it. I made a project out of it and tried to go all OEM parts minus shocks (couldn't find any) and tires (Bear Claws)...with the 4x4 front diff lock mod. It's a GREAT machine and I'll keep it forever. They are small, nibble, and fun to ride. Merci
Thanks for sharing! I still need to get mine fixed up better. When the time comes for tires, I’d like to get the Bear Claws or the ITP Mud Lites

Well, it's not a Honda. So no, it's not the perfect 4 wheeler.

Honda does make good four wheelers
Honda is good and reliable! I have a Honda and a King quad… and two Polaris (850 & 1000xp). All are good if you maintain, my 95 king quad is the most impressive for its era though!!
I wouldn’t mind having a 300 Fourtrax 4x4 myself someday to put head to head with the king quads
