I just watched the latest animated film from Sony's Columbia Pictures, "The Garfield Movie" starring Chris Pratt and Samuel L. Jackson. This film is definitely something... I guess you'll just have to watch the full video to hear my full thoughts on it and why I believe it's painfully unremarkable.

I honestly do wish they added more of the original characters though. Like, where the hell is Arlene? And spoilers, we only see Nermal for about 2 seconds on the party scene and that’s pretty much it. I wonder who thought of making new characters and less of the original ones, director was probably running out of ideas 💀
Edit: It’s so sad, just think about how much advertising and promoting they did for the movie just for it to be dumped.

I'm disappointed that animated movies are struggling recently compared to superhero movies and remakes.
To be frank, were we really expecting anything else from this movie?
A little more screentime and importance of the humans. I'm pretty sure even the original film fleshed them out better.

Honestly, there’s 0 good animated movies in 2024! All we have left in the first half of this year is a Disney movie!
Disney kinda saved us. Inside Out 2 is,…actually good.
Movie was pretty decent imo kinda wish they went with a classic garfield cartoon style instead of like almost mario movie type designs with detailed versions of the characters i wish they went with like a garfield show episode type movie it would have been alot better
I agree I think the film could have looked really good had they leaned into the comic strip roots.
in my opinion this just gives me the modern animated commercial movie, i mean just by how the huge the marketing was for the movie means they didn't wanted to try

You’re aloud to enjoy the movie as much as you like.
But other people don’t have to like it.

those garfield fans are so selfish and ungrateful!!! I have waited 4 F@#king years for this movie to come out and those reviewers haven't learnt anything from the writer's guild! So, these idiots need to be thankful for writers and actors today otherwise they might start another strike!

@@xaitydoesstuff Rotten tomatoes and other movie sites gave the movie an awful review all because garfield is not like himself from the comics! that's why I'm calling the reviewers selfish and ungrateful because they didn't learn anything from the strike of giving lots of praise to the writers!

I actually liked this movie. It was pretty good. The only thing I would have changed about it is the villain, since you barely remember her villain acts (I have no idea how to explain this) when the movie is over. The story of the movie was also good in my opinion. To be fair, I see your point with Garfield and his dad's relationship!

I liked it. It wasn't the best I've ever seen, but it was far from the worst. Animation was solid, acting was solid, emotional elements were solid. Everything was just fine.
I don’t get it. Why are people trashing on the Garfield Movie when Sony also made The Angry Birds Movie 2, a movie that I argue does a bigger disservice to the franchise it was based on. I haven’t seen Sony’s Garfield Movie, but compared to The Angry Birds Movie 2 and Megamind 2, how bad can Garfield be?

@@joel784 If you’re talking about The Angry Birds Movie 2, then we can’t forget about character assassinations and rushed “redemptions” that have zero consequences for the antagonist (Zeta literally gets off scot free).
If you’re talking about the other two then I can’t say anything more because I haven’t seen them (and I don’t plan on watching Megamind 2)

There's no point in getting upset about someone who compared the Peanuts movie with the Garfield Movie understands it's source material better.
Have not seen the movie, but I've always wished that Garfield was just a comic, because it's charming enough as a comic, but I don't feel it needs to be stuff and movies, I feel like it's one of those things that were meant to do one thing and do that really well and instead it's so much more other than just the comic and as everything that's not the comic it gets annoying very fast. Also I've always disliked how Garfield hates mondays, because he doesn't have school or a job, his mondays can be just like his weekends, he's a cat, it just doesn't make sense to me and doesn't make Garfield relatable, since he really can't relate to all the real life very good reasons to be annoyed by mondays. This shouldn't annoy me about Garfield, but it does.
I do think I wouldn't go as far as call it an insult to animation though because I do think it looks good enough and from the trailer it does seem to be well-animated, just very generic.
Tbh, I think Garfield should've been just like Heathcliff. Just TV cartoons or specials. Doesn't really need movies.
Even tho, this animated movie seems like a step up from the previous ones with cheap animation.

Better than what disneys been putting out for the last few years although I wish more of the original cast was shown but overall I didn’t mind the movie 7.2/10
