  • Terrorist groups are destabilizing countries all over the continent.

Islamist terrorist groups have found a new home and it's not in the Middle East -- it's in Africa. Specifically, the Sahel, a band of territory in West Africa between the Sahara desert and the savannah.
Since the early 2000s, Islamist extremist groups have increasingly strengthened their base here -- training fighters, raising money, and launching a massive number of attacks.
Some are linked to al-Qaeda and other Islamic State. This is throwing these already weak countries into crises and making the region one of the most dangerous in the world.
To truly understand the international conflicts and trends shaping our world you need a big-picture view. Video journalist Sam Ellis uses maps to tell these stories and chart their effects on foreign policy.

This is not saying that islamist terrorism causes poverty, but vice versa, extreme poverty in places close to areas already inhabited by ISIS and Alqaeda that have power vacumes are hot spots for this kind of thing (H)

seems like the key is to help the sub saharan economies develop and industrialise. this will in turn alleviate poverty and strengthen the central government enough so that they can deal with the terrorists at a local level. military intervention from western nations is just a temporary stop gap measure. marawi in the Philippines is a good example, a strong national government and armed force dealt with the problem all by themselves with minimal foreign non combat support

    WHY IS AFRICA POOR?
Africa is the richest continent regarding ressources but why is it poor? when colonialisation ended, the west left the lands to corrupt leaders (who had / having still strong ties to western governement). As the west left nearly whole country in dept, the coeeupt leaders, who were in cobtrol of a sinking ship, begun to take loans worth billions of the IMF. As the countries where so heavy in dept, they couldnt pay back the interest on the interest. So IMF set conditions so these poor countries can "save" money to make sure their money is being paid back. The conditions on these poor countries were following:
    - privatise ressources (water, land, oil, etc..)
    - the poor countries should cut off money in health care and school education.
    - yo devalue their currency
    -etc..
through the privatisation the rich ressources of the africans were taken away to benefit western companies. Africans were also no longer self-supporting as they were depandant on western goods(water comes mostly from nestle, africa is flooded whoch cheap fishes from europe etc..).
as u can see, african states are victims of the IMF (banking in general bc of the interest), western and african government. the thing is africa will never ever get out of debt bc the interest on the interest is ecponential hence it will stay forever a "slave" for the west... dont think these "charity" organisation will change anything
