This man is a elder , but he is not wise. if he knew any better he would have corrected you when you said the polygamy is an arab's custom . It not originally their custom. The origin is a Hebrew Israelites custom. All you have to do is your biblical research. Which came first the Torah or the Quran ¿He should know better than that.

I’m Muslim and this individual’s understanding of polygamy is “midget thinking” If he thinks that Allah (s.w.t) would reveal revelation to Muhammad the Prophet (s.a.w.s) to only address sex then he’s horribly mistaken
Yes, the verse was revealed during the time of battle when men was being killed however this verse has universal application. Meaning, it will stand both past, present, & future tense
Sex, is not the standard exigency for (providing) for more than one wife & nor should it be however creating “social ties” is.
Further more, “widow” doesn’t necessarily have to mean a woman who’s lost her husband by death for this word has several definitions. If she’s left alone physically, mentally & spiritually then she’s widowed because men should be cultivating their wives
Lastly, he is correct when he says, some brothers don’t qualify to take on a second wife however it doesn’t negate the fact that it’s still permissible to address a “social epidemic” that has taken place especially inside the African American community.
His, misguided concept surrounding this verse of the Holy Quran sounds personal and leave at that

In my teens I had a discussion with a young bosnian muslim guy and his interpretation was, that since man cannot love two women equally, he should abstain from the desire or idea of having multiple wives.
That if he was to be honest with himself he'd know that he would never be able to love them and treat them equally. I admired his insight because I could tell that he wasn't just parroting phrases but that he'd actually came to the conclusion himself. His discourse after that on love was so profound and honorable for someone so young but I remember how his wisdom impacted me. I have observed this trend and have realized that most narcisstic men advocate for it. It's about having their ego's stroked at all times and It's about sex. That's why the new fresh addition recieves more attention and affection while the old partner has to compete to still be seen. And then another one is added for the thrill and so on.

ALL THE TIME.. its equally both and black women have been practicing polygamy and polyandry WILLINGLY.. why arent they labeled narrsacistic? because its normal and somehow we gotta victimized her even if she tells you its her choice its in one ear and out the other because somehow she is innocent and that man is manipulating her, even if he is 17 and she is 33.. somehow its still the mans fault.. even if she been grooming him since he was 15.. its his fault.. and its ALWAYS been this way.. thats why it will NEVER get better EVER!! in 20 years you'll see my comment is gold because nobody will be able to prove it wrong.. black people are not capable of progression anymore.. its over! we got way too many egotistical narrative pushers..

While that sounds good, that logic is both flawed and not in line with the Quran. Allah’s Hukm (legislation) is set forth for men and women to do justice to one another and to also do it to ourselves, and it’s in a man’s nature to love, lust after, and want more than one woman.
The verse the man you spoke to alluded to was, “You will never be able to do perfect justice between wives even if it is your ardent desire”
      [al-Nisa’ 4:129]
And that speaks to loving and tending to his wives (hugging, hand holding, kissing, etc), but it’s not in any way reprehensible to pursue polygyny, nor to endorse it, and anyone that claims to be a Muslim, to look at it from a perspective of negativity b/c Allahprefaces this verse (and concept) up by saying, “If you fear you might fail to give orphan women their ˹due˺ rights ˹if you were to marry them˺, then marry other women of your choice-two, three, or four.” As THIS is the standard and a man must grapple with the reality and weight of the situation and is therefore given the option to choose based on what he sees fit for himself.
The way you’ve phrased it and speak about it is both one dimensional archaic, but it’s much more valuable to individuals and the society as a whole than you’ve given it credit for. There’s more than plenty of loved filled polygynous marriages built on strong faith and values that aren’t revolved around sex or the stroking of a man’s ego. What you and most women fail to conceptualize is that life doesn’t revolve around you and all that you want and desire. Men have just as much of a right to want his cake and have it too, and it’s through a Halal union (marriage) where he’s taking care of his responsibilities and women in his life, you’d be foolish to try and judge, look down upon, or talk down about a relationship that you’re not in, and that Allah Azza wa Jal himself gave the ummah through His divine grace, glory, and wisdom.

@@abzal-falaz6813 I respect your religious views but since it's below spiritual knowingness I cannot entertain it. Respectfully.
I have yet to observe a prosperous relationship of multitudes. Lets forget about the adults and focus on the children for a moment, that alone would have to be a segment of it's own. Where reality is far different from the selfish desires of the adults.
I have yet to observe women in those kind of relationships without severe mental anguish and in states of depression. Keep in mind it's easy to put a front on, a mask on in support of illusory ideas. The Ego has an expertise of doing so.
Relationship is a closed concept unless it entails constant discovery of self and ones partner, which should be obvious. As conscious alive evolving beings there is always something new to explore about one another. Intimacy actually means being intimate on every level, the physical aspect is small and for ordinary people. Being able to stimulate one another takes alertness, awareness, attention, focus, time. You cannot give fully without fully being present. You constantly build together.
Most relationships lack aliveness hence why people are quick to be attracted to new energetic individuals, because it brings in a fresh excitement but that goes for both genders.
Rarely if ever do women find a man who ticks all the boxes or have the characteristics that we look for within a man. It may happen every blue moon. We know and understand progress and evolution beyond man's control.
The question then is, do most males fall short in terms of being the right partners? A lot of men cannot take a blow to their ego's. How would I know? Because they tell me. They cannot accept the truth about themselves,it cuts too deep or blow out the inflated bubble of the Ego metaphorically speaking. So we get the common phrase of we deserve or want to have the cake and eat it too. Does that make them feel more of a man if they have multiple women putting them up on a pedestal? If their idea of a perfect happy life means to fill the void they have within with "love" or affection from multiple people does that not show how fragile they truly are. There is a severe lack of honesty and man needs to be honest with himself first and foremost.

On another note, is there a video of professor small talking about how melanated men and women should make love? I believe in ancient teachings of Taoism, Tantra, Kama sutra, etc. I think this is a conversation worth having as we work toward decolonizing every facet of our lives. It’s one thing to master the physical (anatomy), it’s another to master the breath work, energy, and magical properties of sexual portals achieved through orgasm….we need elders to teach us, or atleast supplement our own curious exploration….

Old heads really hate hip hop huh. Some of elders talk in emotions disguised through information. I’ve done my own research Africans have always been big on polygamy for the same reason he stated. For every 1 black male born there are 3 females. The other 2 are subject to be other people’s whore and not have a family. Which is going on right now. Polygamy prevents that. Two the whole sly hip hop comment ….from R&b, to rock, jazz, blues , and dance, none of these things have given us true freedom. So why single out the youths genre when in 50 years of hip hop 30 of those years are made of positive, thought provoking, and groundbreaking music. But the older generation always had a hate for this particular genre.

I always thought polygamy was for the times back in the day- since men often had to fight many other tribes and groups there were more women and children who needed care and a household. Also some tribal peoples in the past due to harsh conditions had to act as a clan on each others behalf or they would all perish. The wild cut throat Arabian tribes of the desert were united into one nation of Islam by the guidance of the holy Quran. Polygamy was a necessity for lack of men and households were formed based on mercy for widows and orphans who would otherwise be abused and killed. While in the west the practice of mistressess is based on lust and irresponsibility towards women. Being a pimp also is a materialistic man who does not understand his own purpose or the station of women, they are slavers.

I will admit I know little of him and his work, but I will look into it. But, his overall statement about the topic was accurate as to the number of men and women. Women did start polygamy so women could have a husband, a practice that’s probably millions of years old. As of the practice today, it’s is becoming more common as our people are healing mentally and emotionally. He is right about young minded males and females should not even consider it and work on themselves.
