as a brazilian i actually see Pumas semi frequently and although i don’t really care for them they have a huge following specially among older folks. Every car show seems to have at least one and the owners always say that it’s so much better to drive than a beetle which i find very hard to believe. Before my little brother bought his beetle he was looking at this puma some guy had locked away in his garage for years but we never got around to going there to check it out and it eventually was sold to some guy who chopped off the roof. Pumas were kit cars but there’s a Volkswagen called the SP2 that was actually built by Volkswagen of Brazil back in the day and is crazy looking but underneath it’s again just a beetle.

You ever seen a Volvo Sugga? It's a Swedish Army radio truck built on a Volvo Amazon / P series sedan or something. They pop up for sale every now and then. Big diesel V6 olive drab jacked up on live axles with tractor tires, jerry cans and radio antennas all over the place and shit. Absolutely rowdy and badass.

Opel name got weird in the 70s and early 80s. The GTs were made in Europe. My first car was a 76 Isuzu Opel. It looked like the old I-Mark. Chevy Luv pickup used the same drivetrain and chassis I think. Anyway that made the Opel easy to get parts for in the Arkansas backwoods.
Edit: a cousin built one of those Bug kits like the Opel GT. Caught fire, fuel line too close to exhaust manifold. Live and learn. Had to pick it up in Oakland.
The worst thing about those fiero kit cars is that the fiero they ruined is not a bad car in the first place. There's some really great and well documented swaps you can do to make them really great, and some aftermarket suspension stuff out there too. Of course half the time those kit cars start with the worst fiero, with the earlier suspension and the iron duke.
