This is a restoration video of a vintage US Army rechargeable flashlight. This flashlight was circa 1990s and uses a button cell battery. This flashlight is in working order and can be used as is or restored to its original condition.
This is absolutely incredible work here John! Thank you for showing that trick with the hydrogen peroxide and ultraviolet. Please tell me maybe what exactly you added to the battery and how that works?
I've never seen that type of flashlight before. The battery is definitely a 4 volt lead acid battery. I can't seem to find a replacement (I'm not surprised) but it is easy enough to find lead acid batteries that are only 2 volts and are tubular like a "D" cell battery. I'm quite certain a single 18650 lithium ion battery will probably hold more power than that entire lead acid battery pack and it puts out nearly the same voltage.
I would hazard that it was a movie prop from a "B" sci fi movie.
That not sealed lead acid. or not so sealed if can top up battery?. Nice retrobright job with the UV led strip I guess. Would not want just that when dark, Is a bit week as bulb torches where back in the day, and bike lights with a 3v bulb and 2 D bigger type cells. back to the 80's. LED stuff now impressive. This old thing, not so much but as it was back then, nice job. Horrible mains voltage capacitor dropper charger circuit right by the DC front bulb. You got the mains lead. Had a video like this yesterday, Was a Japanese tocch, changed to LED reflector and 18650 cells. AM radio too.

It is a Cheap Chinese Consumer Torch, it has nothing to do with US Army it's not even Close to Military Grade🤦♂️
It would take more than 48hrs to charge the battery with a cheap Capicitor droper Circuit.. You wasted your time in restoring it.
I agree with you! in the subtitles it is indicated that the flashlight has nothing to do with the army! I do not spare time for restoration because it is my hobby
My brother has been in the Army since ‘83 and has no idea what this is. Does anybody know?
This is not an original, most likely the manufacturer decided to call it that. This is evidenced by the inscription on it

It has nothing to do with the army.
It's a cheap China torch light.
Definitely you could upgrade it with two 18600 li-on battery cells. Put powerful LED lights and it will extend the battery life.

You should LED mod this light. You can probably get an LED bulb that just screws in where the original bulb was and will be a lot brighter.
