Roger Moore has to be one of the sweetest, most gentleman-y and down to earth big stars out there. He looks like a man who would not look down on anybody from his high horse, but rather shake your hand and thanking you for appreciating him. Immense respect for the sir
+Jason Kane I tried, but I couldn't "thumbs-up" your comment any higher than once... This guy's line of questioning was absolutely horrible. It's as if he said to himself, "OK, I don't want to ask the same-old questions that eveyone has asked him for the last 35 years. I have to think of something nobody else has ever asked him..." Well, he succeeded.
+NorthernChev To be fair to him Roger Moore is probably bored shitless of being asked the same things over and over and may have been amused by the change of tack...
+Jason Kane AGREED.. STUPID QUESTIONS . The questions are a mockery and very disrespectful. Asking about how to raised an eyebrow was the most retarded question he could of asked. No wonder why some actors hate these stupid interview. He is so lucky I wasn't Roger abt staring into the eyes crap. I would give him the look and purposely scare him and say you mean like this response?
I once took Roger Moore for a half hour drive in my taxi. didn't realise it was him. it was night and he was sitting in the back of my Laguna. Absolutely lovely guy, spoke with me with genuine interest about my own dreams and ambitions, for the whole journey. when he got out, I switched on the light and turned around to get the fare and as he gave me a couple of notes with keep the change, he opened the door and said "well, good luck with the gigs" and did that Roger Moore look with his eyes and I instantly realised who it was. It was a stunning experience, because he's my first bond and the finest example of an Englishman.
Roger Moore is often criticized for his role as Bond, but his lighter approach to the role was actually just perfect for the times, at least for US audiences. At the time of his first Bond film, Live and Let Die in 1973, we were just getting out of the Vietnam War and we were in the mood for something lighthearted and comical rather than intense and dangerous. I do agree that he hung on for a couple of films too many; he should have quit after "For Your Eyes Only" but instead he made 2 more.
Roger Moore brought an entirely new vision of Bond with suave class and self-deprecating humor. But all in all, I believe that among all the others, including the seminal Sean Connery, Daniel Craig will emerge as the quintessential Bond of the 21st century.
+tiffsaver I don't doubt that will happen. As I mentioned in another post, each Bond was made for their generation. Other than with Pierce. Pierce was a bit of a throwback to Connery's Bond. I think this was why his popularity didn't last. The new generation wanted a more action packed Bond.
+tiffsaver the 21st century still has 85 years to go... In 2099 people will live in an entirely different world with entirely different ideas of what Bond should be. You haven't even seen the future Bond actors. Bit too soon to call him the quintessential Bond of the century don't you think?
+Paul Riet Let me put it this way. All film Bonds are products of their own eras. The original vision of the author Ian Fleming was Bond as a woman-hating lout. But Craig, in my opinion, is by far the best of them all, for THIS generation. But unfortunately he hates the franchise already, so I don't think he'll be around long.
Although I love them all, Moore has always been my favorite James Bond with *Live and Let Die* being my all-time favorite OO7 film. Roger Moore seems to be a very a humble person and I have always admired him. Respect from the United States of America.
reckon connery is probably the truest to flemming's original vision, but for me moore will always epitomise james bond, just down to being a kid in the late 70's and 80's, that said i can appreciate the depth that craig brings to the character...
my complaint isn't against one line jokes, it's that James Bond, a character which according to his source material should be rather dark and serious, was portrayed completely wrong by Moore who openly admitted he didn't even like the Fleming Novels in the first place.
I actually would have preferred Lazenby as Bond, his arrogance as a person at the time actually played in his favour as he was playing a young hot headed version of Bond. Plus if Lazenby stayed on it's more than likely that the serious would have taken a darker and more serious tone through out the 70s-80s which In my opinion would be preferable to what actually happened during that era in Bond films (which i like to forget about.
I don't that statement is really true, I would say actually the Bond movies with Moore were more cliché then any other era in Bond History, The Bond saga is supposed to be about a cold-blooded, yet charismatic killer who's a fallible human being, That essence was ignored greatly by both Connery and more's movies because Hollywood didn't think it would sell, they wanted style over substance and thought catchy one liners and gadgetry would work better. Craig/Datlon were truer to the material
The opening tones with the "tick" sound at the very beginning of this video sound like the WWV time signal here in the USA that broadcasts the universal coordinated time signal on 2.5, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 MHz.
"Just concentrate. Think of England." What an amusing answer and tip. In my humble opinion, the questions were quite shallow, and not really what one would get the best out of in asking an old Bond-hand... But good ole' Roger took it in stride, and made quite a good point about the fantasy spy VS the reality spy. I mean, for a spy to do something visually noticeable and look publically presentable completely defeats the purpose of a spy :oP
Many forget that the franchise was in trouble because Connery left twice and Lazenby was not rehired. With a readymade following from "The Saint", Moore kept the series alive. He's not gotten the appreciation or respect he should.
I generally agree with your comments, but the fact is that in his last 2 films Moore was just too old to be taken seriously as a dangerous spy. And romancing women that were young enough to be his daughter was just downright creepy.
I appreciated his humility. Roger Moore was the first Bond I saw as a kid. I did find the interviewers questions to be a bit odd, but I think Mr. Moore handled them well.
Product of the times dude - Roger Moore chose to focus on one of the traits of Bond; the lover, which suited his own style of acting better. Keep in mind if it wasn't for Moore doing The Saint he would have been the first Bond anyway. It could have been worse...........Lazenby could have done all the Moore Bond films instead
No matter how many decades have passed, Sir Rodger is still one VERY cool cat! Yes, he hammed it up a bit as Bond - He's a Pro! & performed accordingly! I've no doubt he could've gone the other direction, he wasn't required to is all. Moreover he was quite right - REAL spies (as in how Craig's portraying Bond), are chameleons! Invisible, & lethal!
I'm not saying anything groundbreaking here but what an absolute jerk that interviewer is. If his intention was to win the sixth-form prize for getting it all a bit wrong and looking silly he did fantastically well. I'm no huge fan of Sir Roger, but here he gives us a textbook example of how to deal charmingly with an annoyance.
daniel craigs bond is def rougher then all the other bonds. a true killer which is what a real spy is. other then connery craig is my favorite bond. casino royale & goldfinger are my top favorite bond movies.
sir roger moore easily the best bond and the only saint, all round fantastic guy..just read his auto biog, what a fabulous and exciting life...live forever sir roger and never die....your country needs you!!!
James Bond for me is a character defined by the traits he possessed in the Ian Fleming novels, in playing Bond, Moore rejects every single aspect of the original character and replaces it with a barrage of one liners instead. plus if you look at the reviews for most of the Bond films the Moore movies are the worst received.
Sean Connery and Roger Moore were so different but I do not know which one was better as a James Bond. Each one has a way to be just perfect James Bond.
Roger was great. One mistake people often make is to connect his eyebrow acting with Bond. Although, he did lift the occasional eyebrow in Bond, it was mostly made famous by The Saint and the halo opening.
@2:13 does anyone else think he was about to say "I was a pussy" and then changed his mind? I swear I could almost hear him start to form a "p". He had a little smirk on his face after he finished the answer, too. :D
LIVE AND LET DIE is probably my favorite of the Moore Bonds. I have owned them all for years, but never really sat down and watched most of them. I was a Connery fan growing up. I've been holding numerous marathons over the years and have gotten really addicted to the Pre-Brosnan films for some reason. Up until three years ago I probably couldn't remember anything from LIVE AND LET DIE other than it having a black villain.
I've felt for a while that you must need to pass a Stupid Test to join the staff of The Guardian. This clown confirms it. What the hell kind of questions were those?
by that logic Roland Emmerich and Michael Bay must be a better director's than Kenneth Branagh or Guliermo Del Torro because 20th century fox and Columbia pictures green lit more of their projects. The reason the Studio liked Moore was because his presence made the Bond films much safer and more marketable than they had previously been; Moore's movies although financial successful and rated among the worst Bond films by critical reception.
I'm going to stick up for this interviewer. Whilst he wasn't particulalry strong I don't think he was a "nasty little twit". Also, imagine how difficult it must be for a fairly young, comparitively inexperienced interviewer to come face-to-face with Sir Rog. Like me, he probably grew up watching him as Bond on video or dvd. I certainly know that if I was him, Id be nervous and would at least TRY to ask him things he hadn't answered a squillion times b4. This is from a hopeful future journalist
fair enough about the interviewers choice of questions - although the daniel craig question was interesting cos we get to see roger moore's view on him. Awesome Bond and have seen him in real life but unfortuantely haven't met him :(
Roger Moore at 85 still looks excellent. He had charm and sophistication in playing the role and he was convincing as a man in high society. Craig is a thug that is cold and plays him as a man losing his humanity in becoming the spy.
no but i hadnt seen it for about 6 years so it brought back memories, i grew up with brosnan. My parents loved the older ones so i watched the connery and moore bonds at the same age.
Moore was Bond for 12 years (1973 - 1985)...I am thoroughly entertained by Moore's Bond films...I know, deep down, Connery is best Bond overall, but growing up watching Moore's Bond brings back nostalgia...
The Interviewer missed the fact he was in "The Spy Who Loved Me" whic is My fave of his movies and starred the beautiful Barbara Bach My fave Bind Girl.
This is how I think of all the Bonds that I can remember. Roger Moore was the classiest Bond. Low on combat scale but lots of tech and guile to solve a problem. Daniel Craig is the assassin Bond. Shawn Connery was the thumper / brawler Bond. Timothy Dalton was combo classy Bond with a bit of combat. Pierce Brosnan was a handsome Bond that you wouldn't think was much of a threat until he got into combat.
Roger Moore has to be one of the sweetest, most gentleman-y and down to earth big stars out there. He looks like a man who would not look down on anybody from his high horse, but rather shake your hand and thanking you for appreciating him. Immense respect for the sir
How much of an effort was it for Sir Roger to be polite to this nitwit? He was very gracious.
+Jason Kane I tried, but I couldn't "thumbs-up" your comment any higher than once... This guy's line of questioning was absolutely horrible. It's as if he said to himself, "OK, I don't want to ask the same-old questions that eveyone has asked him for the last 35 years. I have to think of something nobody else has ever asked him..." Moore had the best Bond voice. He was also the most gentlemanly.
a true gentleman in every sense of the word
Roger Moore is often criticized for his role as Bond, but his lighter approach to the role was actually just perfect for the times, at least for US audiences. At the time of his first Bond film, Live and Let Die in 1973, we were just getting out of the Vietnam War and we were in the mood for something lighthearted and comical rather than intense and dangerous. At that age, I believe Bond can still kick that, smarty pants, interviewer's ass.
My favorite bond is Roger Moore
+Juan Ferrer Fully agree
Me too
Me too
Live and Let Die was really good.
I agree
Roger Moore is best Bond at all time. He had shown the true English gentleman style. Well spoken with a sense of humors.
Roger Moore brought an entirely new vision of Bond with suave class and self-deprecating humor. But all in all, I believe that among all the others, including the seminal Sean Connery, Daniel Craig will emerge as the quintessential Bond of the 21st century.
+tiffsaver Agreed, and I love Moore's self deprecation. He reminds me of me,always taking the piss out of myself.

+tiffsaver I hope they go back to "suave" Bond. I prefer it to "gritty" Bond. Who says he has to be "gritty" anyway. He's not Batman.
GOD BLESS YOU ROGER..........A CHARISMATIC ACTOR......A LOVELY KIND MAN.....WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU.
RogerMoore is quite charming and the interviewer is quit annoying.
The presenter is a wanker.
dam looks good still
Everybody wanks... What you mean by that?!
I love how Sir Moore is just going along with the guy.
What a great and humble man he is! Just got his book and can't wait to read it.
Although I love them all, Moore has always been my favorite James Bond with *Live and Let Die* being my all-time favorite OO7 film.
Roger Moore seems to be a very a humble person and I have always admired him. Respect from the United States of America.

With every question asked I was wondering whether this guy could ask even dumber questions and he never failed to disappoint
"I was a lover, he is a killer." :-D
Daniel Craig and Pierce Brosnan are the best bonds ever
you got to interview Roger Moore and these are the questions you came up with?
were you high? talk about opportunity missed... good gawd man!
"a robot goes mental" - there's a lead to a question i've never heard before... O_o
What a strange interviewer and some really silly questions
Such a humble man, they don’t make em like this anymore.
my complaint isn't against one line jokes, it's that James Bond, a character which according to his source material should be rather dark and serious, was portrayed completely wrong by Moore who openly admitted he didn't even like the Fleming Novels in the first place.
Mr. Moore with his wonderful sense of humor.
Wow, reverence and humility to God from an actor...

He is interviewing him like a first year uni student
Still my favourite bond
I agree with you to a degree, but I mainly blame the studio and MGM for turning Bond into a joke.
The opening tones with the "tick" sound at the very beginning of this video sound like the WWV time signal here in the USA that broadcasts the universal coordinated time signal on 2.5, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 MHz.
this interviewer sets a new low....bravo!
He Still Looks great
Sir Roger never gets enough love for being bond. Octopussy, the Man with the Golden Gun, Moonraker, etc. In my opinion one of the best 007s ever.
"Just concentrate. Think of England."
What an amusing answer and tip.
In my humble opinion, the questions were quite shallow, and not really what one would get the best out of in asking an old Bond-hand...

Moore was just fun as Bond, light wit and didn't take it all so seriously. Great time.
Many forget that the franchise was in trouble because Connery left twice and Lazenby was not rehired. With a readymade following from "The Saint", Moore kept the series alive. He's not gotten the appreciation or respect he should.
Roger has a legendary voice :)
I generally agree with your comments, but the fact is that in his last 2 films Moore was just too old to be taken seriously as a dangerous spy. And romancing women that were young enough to be his daughter was just downright creepy.
best bond ever
Roger moore was such a nice humble man and a great James Bond .
Roger Moore seems to have a very good sense of humour.
Stupid questions, excellent answers.
Roger Moore will always be my fav James Bond, and I've seen all 22 movies.
Live and Let Die is his best. Non stop action and that blaxploitation/pseudo-voodoo theme was great.
Most humble and elegant well spoken Bond. After you 007.
It's my favourite and I've been watching Bond 12 years or so :)
Roger Moore is the most handsome, suave and charming bond.
i know, but iv never seen it like that. richard kieal looks like old jaws rather than another person.
Roger is just the best....Loved him in The Persuaders! and he was my favourite Bond character too...!
Didn't particularly enjoy his bond films but the guy is pure class
I thought i had seen all the terrible interviewers.
This dope whoever he is, takes the crown.
daniel craigs bond is def rougher then all the other bonds. a true killer which is what a real spy is. other then connery craig is my favorite bond. casino royale & goldfinger are my top favorite bond movies.
sir roger moore easily the best bond and the only saint, all round fantastic guy..just read his auto biog, what a fabulous and exciting life...live forever sir roger and never die....your country needs you!!!
Craig does not enter the same league as Sir Roger.
Roger Moore is my favourite Bond, he had so much style.
rogor moore looks like a compleatly different person. the first time i saw this i said, "thats not rogor moore"
awsome that roger thanks the lord like that
James Bond for me is a character defined by the traits he possessed in the Ian Fleming novels, in playing Bond, Moore rejects every single aspect of the original character and replaces it with a barrage of one liners instead. plus if you look at the reviews for most of the Bond films the Moore movies are the worst received.
"Just concentrate and think of England"
Moore is an awesome guy. And was a true bond in his own way.
Sean Connery and Roger Moore were so different but I do not know which one was better as a James Bond. Each one has a way to be just perfect James Bond.
Although he's not my favourite Bond, his films are still huge fun.
"Just concentrate and think of England." ftw
Roger was great. One mistake people often make is to connect his eyebrow acting with Bond. Although, he did lift the occasional eyebrow in Bond, it was mostly made famous by The Saint and the halo opening.
Still hard to believe he's gone 😔
Am I the only one who prefers Sean Conery and Daniel Craig?
ROGER MOORE FOR EVER !!! THE BEST 007
the questions are hilariously stupid.
indeed the interviewer is at best 10th rate
He looks like James Garner.
@2:13 does anyone else think he was about to say "I was a pussy" and then changed his mind? I swear I could almost hear him start to form a "p".
He had a little smirk on his face after he finished the answer, too. :D

Could not agree more the interviewer is disrespectful. Also a fool.
RadioFreeLondon I think the whole thing's just a ruse to make Sir Roger sound like a goof because he's a longtime supporter of the conservative party.
I want to see him in movies again, like and old an wise mentor or something: the only sound of his voice is so soothing
Interviewer didn't do his homework .Roger's favourite Bond film was 'The spy who loved me'
He melts when Daniel Craig gazes🙄
Roger Moore is starting to look more like Warren Buffet than James Bond
So did I, I grew up in the brosnan era.TWINE was my first bond
I saw in the theaters.
by that logic Roland Emmerich and Michael Bay must be a better director's than Kenneth Branagh or Guliermo Del Torro because 20th century fox and Columbia pictures green lit more of their projects. the first 3 bond films he made are amongst the very best ever made imo
Truly hilarious man, he will be missed.
Think of England. Classic Moore!
fair enough about the interviewers choice of questions - although the daniel craig question was interesting cos we get to see roger moore's view on him. Awesome Bond and have seen him in real life but unfortuantely haven't met him :(
Where did this man work before this....Walmart? So out of his league here. Roger Moore gracious as always.
Ha Haaaa!! Laughed for ages after reading that! Excellent :-D
Very nice...Thank you...
Roger Moore at 85 still looks excellent. He had charm and sophistication in playing the role and he was convincing as a man in high society. Craig is a thug that is cold and plays him as a man losing his humanity in becoming the spy.
Hmmm.... From all possible Bonds I still prefer Michael Caine as Harry Palmer.
he went through something called "over 30 years of age."
10/10 for original questions.
no but i hadnt seen it for about 6 years so it brought back memories, i grew up with brosnan. My parents loved the older ones so i watched the connery and moore bonds at the same age.
Moore was Bond for 12 years (1973 - 1985)...I am thoroughly entertained by Moore's Bond films...I know, deep down, Connery is best Bond overall, but growing up watching Moore's Bond brings back nostalgia...
im not disagreeing but why does everyone hate the interviewer?
The Interviewer missed the fact he was in "The Spy Who Loved Me" whic is My fave of his movies and starred the beautiful Barbara Bach My fave Bind Girl.
he still has his voice you can still notice its him minus the glasses
i just saw a recent interview with sean and his voice is fading
