Timothy Dalton, as the most accurate portrayal of Ian Fleming's James Bond. And, On Her Majesty's Secret Service (George Lazenby) for the closest/best adaptation of a Bond novel.
And this is why Dalton needed more films. Because even though us Bond fanatics would say Tim is the best or one of the best, most people wouldn't because of doing only 2
I'm surprised by the amount of love for Roger Moore. He really wasn't that bad at all. My personal fave is Timothy Dalton, tho, who was the right Bond at the wrong time.
You’re so right because if you took those two movies and you put them in a theater at different times of the year, believe me, they would make some money because look at how Daniel Craig‘s bond is being praised and also John wick but you’re right and then I was watching goldeneye and I was like thinking that there is something wrong with this film and then it hit me like a ton of bricks cause I went back and I watched the living daylights and then hit me. My favorite James Bond isn't any of the live action screen Bonds. It's the group from Alan Moore's LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN: TEMPEST comic book series, who age realistically from the fifties up through the end of the 20th Century and into the 21st, and stick pretty closely to the novels , especially the original Bond, who is an absolute bastard. He's cold, vicious, and utterly sociopathic, and MI6 knows this, and uses him as a weapon...and he revels in the power this gives him to be an absolute bastard. He's not a hero.
My Favourite was between Timothy Dalton & Sean Connery until I saw Casino Royale, Now it's Daniel Craig. I would've rated Pierce Brosnan and Roger Moore quite close together, with George Lazenby undoubtedly my least favourite Bond.

Timothy Dalton my favourite. Soft spot for Roger moore. Dalton as Rochester qnd he's the most serious actor. Viag4a it entirely make you James bond but it will make you Roger more.
It’s funny because the main guys not mentioned in between Connery and Craig are my favorite. I love Dalton for his Fleming take on the character. Brosnan for his suave and Moore for his charm!
Living Daylights and Goldeneye are so fucking good, I'd say in the top three, that if you didn't at least ponder over saying Dalton or Brosnan, you aren't qualified to give an answer
To answer that, one has to strip the actors from the movies and their time periods and try to analise only the acting and its contribution. Timothy Dalton. They are all great. Lazemby was in just one weird movie. Its unfair to with him.
Pierce Brosnan is underrated. Dalton got screwed. Craig will always be "the man who killed bond" :/. Moore had the most fun. Lazenby leveraged his cameo. But it's got to be Connery...even though he slept walked through his last 2 outings...

Sean Connery: Originated the role. Timothy Dalton and Daniel Craig: Probably closest to the Ian Fleming character. Brosnan: Came closest to channeling Connery. And he used the P99, which is the best Bond gun ever. Moore: Ok, if your favorite Star Wars movie is Spaceballs. Lazenby: Who?
Daniel Craig isn’t Bond, he is a generic secret agent using the Bond name. Bar his first movie, the rest have all been pretty dull.
