This episode represents the APEX of Miami Vice. The perfect combination of style and substance, where music, fashion, drama, and incredible acting all come together to make a transcendent television experience. While Season 4 and 5 were passable, nothing would ever top the drama, impact, and incredible writing of Season 3. Miami Vice forever!
This is my favorite episode of Miami Vice ever. I use to watch it all the time when I was a kid. Even til this day when the kid dies it brings tears to my eyes. GREAT POST!!!!
This was yet another part of the show where the music fit the mood of what was happening. MV was so good with the concept of creating the perfect marriage of music and events. This was one of the many reasons people loved this show and why it was so popular back in the day. I wish there was a remake in the works where the original cast could be profiled in such a way where they could be integrated into the show in a "years later" issue where they needed to regroup to for an old case . . .
One of the best edited scenes in all of MV. The song runs its entire length and perfectly choreographed from the foreboding limousine drive, to the murder of Archie, to the somber mood of Crockett. Absolutely the best show in history of the 80s
Miami Vice was my favorite TV show back in the day. I eagerly awaited for every new episode and hated when it the final ep ended. I loved the 80's anyway, and since I live in south FL that made it so much better. I tried out as an extra in the 3rd season but so did everyone in south FL at the time so I wasn't picked . . . damn it! I own the full boxed set and still enjoy them. There were only a few duds out of all 5 seasons, but funny how even the duds seem great now :)
Miami vice was the best because they used the greatest sound tracks in the shows. Modern songs 'at the time' that are still great songs today. This along with the acting and cool clothes, ferraris.. it was the best ever.
Sonny Crockett's tantrum scene is excellent. He shows his fit of rage when he sees the boy die. Then, when he throws the ball in the trash, it is a metaphor for how the career of this young man murdered by thugs was wasted. A sad and epic scene at the same time.
Balde, The title of the tune is "This Masquerade" by George Benson, from the Episode Heart of Darkness in the first season. Pretty much every episode from Season 1-3 had unforgettable music at pivotal points. My Personal Favorite? "Tiny Demons" by Todd Rundgren in the Season 1 episode titled "Little Prince"
I missed a lot of the episodes in the 80's..Either i was out in the street or fell asleep watching, after a long day at work..I bought the entire series a couple of years ago..Great stuff never to be duplicated..You gotta love the 80's!
Ok A Michael Mann production. With the best actors, writers, directors and locations in the business. This show was MAGIC. Had all us guys dressing in pastels. Have to admit when James Brown appeared as a what ever believer in aliens I say OK it s over.Scripts when downhill from there.Great show, great run. The music was the best.
I loved this show, and still do. It started new trends in TV. Popular music in the episodes was their invention. They set fashion trends with their clothes. Everyone wanted to look like Don Johnson.
One of the greatest movie scenes in history. I used to record all the Miami Vice series off a VCR. Used to play once a week. Crocket so cool, Tubbs so cool. This particular song and the scene was picture perfect. Gone are those days, never to be seen again.
Miami vice is so awesome. Bought a few years ago the full five seasons on DVD. Really good tv show with beautiful music all the time real good actors. I just love it 👌
WOW, I was looking for this episode. GREAT ONE ,SEEING Sonny reaction after the kid died, priceless. As a young kid I just felt that pain and tears to my eyes. Great song by Simply Red. This ep and the one when Zito was killed still are my favorites.Bless ppl!
I was about 15 at the time when this episode aired here in the UK. The wired kid's murder really hit me hard. I found that scene disturbing; kind of like, a feeling of hopelessness or helplessness came over me. Probably the first time I had ever been really upset by an outcome of any show. The scene and the music has popped into my head many times over the years and I only accidentally stumbled across the clip on another channel today, which had just a snippet of it. It's kind of bitter sweet finding it because of nostalgia, but also reminds me of the shock and pain I felt when first seeing this. Great TV had that impact. And it's interesting to find out all these years later that, actually, I wasn't the only one affected that way by this episode.
I saw this episode just this past week on the Centric channel, where they show reruns. The episode was one of the saddest,I did not want him to be shot and killed. The song caught my attention,I asked my older sister who the artist was.She said it might be Simply Red.Now I can be sure, thanks for posting!
Daría toda mi vida por poder tener la máquina del tiempo para volver a esos años lpmkmp como extraño vivir la vida pasada con mi serie favorita Miami vice pero eso no es posible así que a mirarlo por TH-cam saludos desde Argentina.
great video!!!! I am almost 60 fuckin years old---- this show always had a edge----and the best music ever for a show like this,,,i have seen a lot of cop shows in my day----but his was the best!!!!
Man...this must be, by far, the saddest Miami Vice ending in the whole series. There's something about that final image, when Sonny throws his football balloon to the trash cub, that really breaks me down... it's so powerful, like a punch right in the face.
I still watch the seasons on dvd on a regular basis. Very few shows come on TV that you can watch over and over and over... Miami Vice was one of those few. If only they would have stuck to the formula they used in season one and two, I believe the show could easily have went 9 or 10 seasons.
This was one of the saddest episodes on Miami Vice...Sonny didn't make it as a NFL Player, but this kid had a REAL chance...Sonny put all his hopes and dreams on the kid ..only to have him get gunned down (Which is WHY he freaked out so bad when the kid died). Good episode...very hard to watch though....
Kinda reminds me of Boyz in the Hood when Cuba Gooding Jr's best friend dies who was also a football player trying to get out of the ghetto. I can't believe how season three all of a sudden gets all depressing!!!
This is one of the examples that really shows that Don Johnson is a very underrated actor!
Miami Vice was the show of the "80s decade there will never be another show like it .
The woke lot would have a complete meltdown down if they showed this today 😂

Seasons 4 & 5 also had their heights. Especially 5.
@@boogiebrother9891👍🤝
Prodigal son was the best of Miami Vice.
Don Johnson's acting in this show was as good as I've ever seen. He was amazing!
Buy the complete album, it's great!!!
which name has the album?
Boys and girls from the Facebook era, this is what great TV was like.
cherio it was!
Boys and girls from the Facebook era, keep eating that social media gruel as you wouldn’t get planet Miami Vice!
100% agree with you
💯
and Facebook is dead and it's the TikTok era...what a life
This is my favorite episode of Miami Vice ever. I use to watch it all the time when I was a kid. Even til this day when the kid dies it brings tears to my eyes. GREAT POST!!!!
WONDERFUL..MIAMI VICE. SIMPLY RED.. THIS EPISODE MAKE ME CRY EVERYTIME
Even worse though is the kid's grieving parents refusing to let Crockett in to pay his respects. 😖
A masterful and powerful use of a Simply Red classic!
They don't make shows like this anymore. Friday nights 9 p.m. on NBC I was glued to the TV whatever I did stopped!!! I miss the 80s!!!!!
yes grandad
***** Watch yourself young buck....LOL
Back at you youngin lls
80's best moments ever!!

Jesus that is deep...I'm buying the entire 5 season set now.
One of the best edited scenes in all of MV. The song runs its entire length and perfectly choreographed from the foreboding limousine drive, to the murder of Archie, to the somber mood of Crockett. Absolutely the best show in history of the 80s
Arguably the Best television series of all time. There will NEVER be another Miami Vice, ever.

Seeing Crockett go out like that...wow...powerful episode.
This is TV at it's best. Producers in Hollywood couldn't make a show like this today if their pathetic careers depended it.
And this is why I love Miami Vice I have tears in my eyes when I watch this episode, and when Crockett back to Archie home.... best ending ever...
Sonny Crockett's tantrum scene is excellent. He shows his fit of rage when he sees the boy die. Then, when he throws the ball in the trash, it is a metaphor for how the career of this young man murdered by thugs was wasted. A sad and epic scene at the same time.
1of the best series of all time.
an underrated song by simply red right here
The more I watch this scene, the more I love it. The music is perfect for the scene. Why does network TV suck so bad, now?
Balde,

Whole new respect for this show.

Another amazing scene, and the song is so haunting. Just perfect.
:-( this had me with tears in my eyes
one of the best epidodes!
Great tv action series, Don Johnson- wow!!!!!
I loved this show, and still do. It started new trends in TV. Popular music in the episodes was their invention. They set fashion trends with their clothes. Everyone wanted to look like Don Johnson.
I don't remember ever seeing this scene- and I am definitely a Vice fan- the music for this scene was so perfect
that just doesn't make sense lol

this just shows how great Vice was!!! Really miss shows like this....
One of the greatest movie scenes in history. I used to record all the Miami Vice series off a VCR. Used to play once a week. Crocket so cool, Tubbs so cool. This particular song and the scene was picture perfect. Gone are those days, never to be seen again.

Devastating... A kid with all of the potential in the world... Lost...

Damn...this when TV use to be so entertaining. EXCELLENT song. They always had great music on this show. I can't bear to watch TV now.

The music fits this scene so very well...
A great moment of 80s sound and vision! One of my favourite tracks from Simply Red.
I agree. This was the best episode and the most dramatic ending. At it's best Miami Vice was much better than most give it credit for these days.
I saw this episode just this past week on the Centric channel, where they show reruns. The episode was one of the saddest,I did not want him to be shot and killed. The song caught my attention,I asked my older sister who the artist was.She said it might be Simply Red.Now I can be sure, thanks for posting!

Wasn't this a kicker? Love Crockett's tantrum. Such heartbreak. :( Underrated 3rd season! :)
Man...this must be, by far, the saddest Miami Vice ending in the whole series. There's something about that final image, when Sonny throws his football balloon to the trash cub, that really breaks me down... it's so powerful, like a punch right in the face.
The kid's grieving parents refusing to let Crockett in to pay his respects was the biggest punch right in the face for me. 😖
