- Ken Tanaka is back on the water! This time in the Amazon jungle of Brazil chasing Tucanare-borboleta (Chichla orinocensis) also called Tucanare-Acu or better known as the Peacock Bass.
This trip was amazing. You are fishing Rio Marie which is a tributary of the Rio Negro. The 2nd largest trib of the Amazon River. This place has one of the highest concentration of Giant Peacock Bass called Tucanare-Acu. Which is the breading phase of the Peacock Bass. Here you are also catching plenty of Cichla Temensis as well, known as the Butterfly Pecocks. I was there with one of the best destination outfitters in the business Untamed Angling. Here at Rio Marie you're staying on a incredible mothership that moves up the river as you fish. You're able to access these remote areas on their custom skiffs and have access to water that is not accessible to everyone.
Once again Untamed Angling did not disappoint. Their top notch service and dining experience plus incredible fishing makes it another must go destination.

Those were made by the Brazilian native Kayapo people. I was at Xingu with them the week before this trip fishing for Vampire Fish. Here is the video. At the end you can see all villagers bring out all the goods they have made and you can purchase them.

I hear ya. Yeah, if bugs aren't your thing then Brazil is DEFINITELY not the place for you. As you can see, they are all over you a lot of the times. If you're allergic to bees, forget about it.

😂 Yes, twice actually. They were delicious. Tasted like lemon grass and ginger. They had them on the salad and it was excellent.
@@Wish4Fish thats so cool to me. I believe they are what we call hormigas culonas where im from in colombia. Cool to see them being a part of fine culinary . We fry them and eat them out of paper bags like popcorn lol.
They were delicious in the salad. I loved that they used them in the dish. There were a lot of native dishes and items used. It was an incredible culinary experience.
