    This video gets a rating of 11 out of 10, it's so good. Well filmed, with good lighting, excellent subtitles explaining all the wrench sizes and great camera work showing each bolt to undo. The funny thing was that I thought I could do a few shortcuts and ended up having to backtrack and do exactly what the video said. The only possible suggestion I can make is to put an entire glove over the dipstick tube for the transmission instead of just a single finger of the glove. Please do more videos in this style for the Honda Odyssey. Excellent work, well done. Thank you for doing the video.

    By far the best video I’ve seen on this. Thanks for taking such care to ensure each step is properly filmed and illuminated. Very helpful for an amateur like myself!

    Wow. - you even gave a link to the wobble extension !!!! Thanks Mr. Ranger for giving us mere mortals the confidence to pull and tug on parts we’d usually be too afraid too - and always showing that one last bolt we’d always miss.

    Always the best videos from MrRangerZR1! I ended up removing the radiator hoses when I did my starter on 2007 Odyssey EX as they were due to be replaced anyway. It did make more room for me but good to know that it can be done without removing the hoses.

      That is the easiest way but you will lose coolant, which will add up to the end cost.

    Great vid. Keeping this in my playlist of Honda Odyssey vids. I just did my front breaks and oil change. Fortunately the starter has never gone out, but the alternator has 3x. I think
    Replacement #1 bad part, #2 another bad part, #3 was starting to not charge battery so proactively changed it.
    The first 2 replacements after the initial replacement were covered under warranty and no cost to me.
    Last one I picked the part and got a Denso from rock auto, apparently there are 2 different alternators one for VCM engine and one with out VCM engine. And I have a feeling they, the shop, had been getting the one for the non-VCM engine

      It's the same really. I noticed the starter on this odyssey and other Hondas are made in Japan, so that explains why they last a long time.

    Thats a preytty cool ratchet. If you have access to air (only needs 4+cfm) harbor freight has an impacting air ratchet rated at 70ftlbs, the impact feature also makes it reactionless. Had mine for several years now it made removal of the timing belt covers a breeze.

    God bless you and good afternoon, Mr. Ranger. When the opportunity comes can you make a video on how to remove the VSA from the dashboard, does it have a relay, or does have a mini fuse, and how to fix the problem as well. Also, how to replace the ABS Control Unit.

    At 1:13 and 1:21 in the video, did you get under the car to loosen/remove those 12 mm bolts for the battery tray? Everything was going well like you demonstrated until that point, then I got stumped when working from above the engine bay trying to reach those two bolts. Thanks for the tip/suggestion, great video tutorial!

    What year was this on? 05 and 06 are different than 08-10, and not sure about 07 model, as some of bolts aren't same due to different starters for these vehicles?

    Hello Mr Ranger, another great video you did here, thanks.
    Just a quick question please, did you unbolt the EGR pipe in front of the lower Starter bolt in order to access the bolt (I don't see the pipe in the video)?
    I'm having a hard time reaching that lower bolt.
    Also, which 14mm socket did you use for the lower bolt please, my 14mm impact bolt appears to be too thick to go in there, and I'm not sure the regular 14mm socket I have will go in there too.
    Please let me know.
    Thanks.

      @MrRangerZr1  ปีที่แล้ว

      No need to touch the EGR pipe. Try use 3/8 sockets and wobble extensions

    Great video MrRanger. Does anyone know what the nipple is at 2:34 in the video. The rubber cover for mine fell off and I don't know what to replace it with and where to connect it to. thank you.

      The vent cap on the transmission?

  • @zacharyparker6323
    @zacharyparker6323 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am sure it is needed, but I'm going to ask anyways. Does it have to be torqued to 33 lbs. Or would it be okay if I didn't use a torque wrench. I currently do not have one and honestly don't know how to properly set it

    • @MrRangerZr1
      @MrRangerZr1  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not a big deal. Just make sure you don't overtighen it.
