    Many of the comments are about the minimal max hp gains from this conversion. What we should look at is the overall hp/tq curve difference between TP and TB, this will tell a much better story as to whether or not the added expense is worth it. Also, you may want to try replacing that K&N air filter top with a solid lid (domed preferably), in most applications it causes way too much air turbulence.

    • @FastMonty
      @FastMonty  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks John... what's almost impossible to explain or put a $$$ amount on, is the drivability. Awesome throttle response, and starting at any temperature is dramatically improved. First I've heard of a turbulence issue with the Top K&N... not too worried about it, as the injectors are no where near the throttle blades. Thanks again!

      But in real life most of them are against the hood insulation blanket and not moving any air thru the top it just equalizes the negative and positive pressures

    Love this video. I purchased a single plane Speedmaster aluminum single plane intake manifold to replace my Edelbrock RPM intake for the purpose of doing fuel injection in the runners. I have a carburetor on a Pontiac 461. I dynoed 328 rwhp and 441 rwtq with stock 6x8 iheads in a 81 Pontiac TA Pace car.
    I was wondering how to do this port injection and your video just explained it. Thank you for posting.

    • @FastMonty
      @FastMonty  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know, life certainly got in the way of getting this done... but, glad I did. Good point about drivability, not sure how to do a video on that, as it's subjective to me. But, what I can say is it's better. The biggest difference is how fast it comes down to idle, from any RPM. Whereas before, it would dip to low, go a little high, then settle... all within about 2 or 3 seconds, but I notice it. That issue no longer exists. Starts faster at all temps. And the throttle response is much nicer... might get me into trouble. :) Thanks brother!

    • @FastMonty
      @FastMonty  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anthonydavis5993 well, sounds weird, but everything is better. I know it's subjective, but my favorite improvement is coming to a stop, or coming down to idle... it seems to react faster, whereas the original throttle body the idle would dip to low, catch up a little to high, then settle. within 3 seconds? This unit nails it, doesn't matter if I'm coming down from 2000 rpm, or 4500... I love it. Second to that is throttle response. Third to that is starting at all temps. Hope that gets you off your ass. lol Thanks brother!

      Great question, Jordan! So, I fell in love with the affordability of the original throttle body system, and also learned that several of the sensors and components of the throttle body can be replaced with AC Delco parts. I think most of the Sniper system components are proprietary? Could be wrong. Anyway, that's how it started... then when I rebuilt the engine, I had a crazy idea to implement FiTech's Port Injection tech. BUT, they didn't have one for Pontiac's... so, having my RestoMod motivation of being different, I wanted to be the first with a Pontiac FiTech Port Injection system. I think I am? lol That said, I certainly love it! Thanks again.

      @@FastMonty FWIW, since the best of us are taking notes, on Sniper units I believe the injectors are the only proprietary part and I think some people have worked out a non-proprietary replacement. As with FiTech, other sensors and what not do have standard replacements available. On my second IAC valve currently and it still has some inconsistent idle problems, for the note takers... Awesome being the first/test mule for the FiTech port injection on a Pontiac. Value is not just in HP/$ spent, numbers matching block has a lot of value too, maybe not all monetary. Right there with you on that. You don't get that so much with a LS swap.

    Throttle Body Injection - 435HP@5,079rpm/501ft/lbs torque@2,780rpm $1,592.99. Port Injection - 436HP@5319/511ft/lbs torque@3540 $1,938.00. The car picked up 1HP and 10ft/lbs of torque. Now forget about buying the initial TB kit as one can sell it on Ebay. But spending $345 more for port injection to gain 1HP 10ft/lbs which could EASILY be run to run differences is IMO not worth it. So perhaps the TP idle quality is a tad better than the TB. A $15 grand Butler engine is NOT going to run that smooth and I don't care what you do to it! IMO of course. Hey spend your $$ any way you want!

    • @FastMonty
      @FastMonty  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly right, to each his own. And what's not shown in this video is the drivability improvement, that I learned on the way home... cold/hot starting, coming down to idle from RPM is almost immediate, and the improved throttle response is now going to get me into trouble. So, yeah, my $15,000 Butler motor is smoother than ever now. Thanks for the awesome note taking!
