This was fun to see... Eric did a great cover of "Shenandoah", for a film I made in the 70's for the scenes traveling down the Shenandoah river. I hope he's still around and still playing.
Hi ya` Eric; great video! You are playing in my song titled, "Joe Seddon With Eric Weissberg On Banjo, Are You Ready To Love Me" recorded at Atlantic Studios, 1976. Should you find this note, give it a listen. So pleased to have you take a part in this original piece of music i wrote in 1972. Joe
@sandinmyears1 It was written in the 50s by Arthur Smith a tenor(4 string) banjo player and Don Reno a 5 string banjo player and it was recorded by them originally with a 4 and 5 string banjo rather than a banjo and guitar.
(laffin me arse off here). Well its obviouse to see that humour actually can cross the pond eh peeps? I mean, what a pair of funny blokes and... maaan what a talented pair the both of them are musically. Why I'm seriously tempted ta shout, 'Yeeeehawwwwww' n get me dungerees out,(lolol). Enjoy the music me peeps n... tc now :))
Not bad pickin, specially for a couple a guys from the north. But if you want to hear great guitar & banjer pickin , go to just about anybody's front porch in Southwest Virginia, Northwest North Carolina, or East Tennessee. 👍🤠
Wait, this isn't the kid in the movie, that kid is Hoyt Pollard, so i'm assuming that this dude just played the music and the actor Ronnie Cox and Hoyt did the finger syncing.
HEY SOUND-GUY!! Either turn down the volume of Guy's banjo or, conversely, turn up the volume of that there fellas gee-tar. Guy"s banjo's much higher volume is drowning out the fellow duelist dude, Dude.
He was born in Brooklyn NY. That’s probably why he plays slower than Appalachian people. It doesn’t sound the same as real Appalachian folk It’s not as rhythmic nor fast
I fucking hate when an audience feels the need to clap during a performance. I just to hear the musicians damnit. Put your godamn hands in your pockets and tap your toes.
RIP Eric. You left a giant legacy.
My daughter and I were at this show, along with my friend. I have to say it was one of the best, and for a great cause!
Geeze we just lost Eric this past week, what a huge loss to the music community, he was a legend!!!
Absolutely - he was my banjo hero!
I'm sorry for your lose
God Bless.

And thanks for sharing this! Funny and great song!
My favorite banjo picker, took me back to the Bitter End, 1961, best wishes
Love Pony Express! Great tune (as is Black Rock Turnpike)! thnx
Two greats on stage together. Superb.
This is just so fun! Who disliked the video? Really? It's something to make you smile and laugh. And it sounds good too.
thank you for sharing.
Due grandi... che si divertono ancora come bambini!!
Con tutto rispetto, questa è una delle peggiori versioni del capolavoro di Arthur "Guitar Boogie" Smith. Troppa confusione e poca armonia.
Really enjoyed the vid many thanks
Well done! Thank you for sharing.
he's one of my very favourite Banjo Players
Fantastic!!!
This is great!
Thanks!

Anyone who says that us southerners are dumb hillbillies or that we are untalented needs to see this video.

Eric Weissberg was also responsible for the Steel String guitar and banjo parts in ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’
@sandinmyears1 It was written in the 50s by Arthur Smith a tenor(4 string) banjo player and Don Reno a 5 string banjo player and it was recorded by them originally with a 4 and 5 string banjo rather than a banjo and guitar.

The banjo is a very strange, yet astounding, instrument.
That is a nice old ball bearing Gibson banjo
grazie
These guys are fucking legends.

cool !
Bravo !
@pimplandSWE They're called Scruggs pegs - to tune down and up without altering the main tuning paegs
I did not know that Eric, in addition to being a great banjist is also a good comedian.
Eric's Pickin' an' I'm grinnin'!
Boys dat was a mighty fine pickin and a singin
Don't forget Roy Clark.Another Legend.
Not bad pickin, specially for a couple a guys from the north.

@nondescript11 hate to correct ya but they're called keith tuners from Bill Keith -
@PeckerwoodSmith that was for Pimpland - not you - and I'm not .... oh hell I play banjo and have ocd....
SHET HE IS FAST!
Fantastic duet... just wish I could filter out the audience clapping along.
Wait, this isn't the kid in the movie, that kid is Hoyt Pollard, so i'm assuming that this dude just played the music and the actor Ronnie Cox and Hoyt did the finger syncing.

Lawsuit lol!
@xeeweexRC - I certify this post to be honest, accurate, and righteous.
Theres nothing worse than a crowd that starts to clap along...
Why do they call it "Dueling Banjos" when it's a banjo and a guitar?
This is good but the guitar needs it's own mic.
Well that's just showing off 🙄👏
I love Dukes of Hazard!!!..... uh,, ya know.
Great picker, but I can honestly say the first 4 minutes sounded more like a jumble than a song
Now you just drop them pants. You just take them right off.
I feel sorta sorry for Tom.
He got prettymuch overshadowed there.
lol
He was born in Brooklyn NY. That’s probably why he plays slower than Appalachian people. It doesn’t sound the same as real Appalachian folk It’s not as rhythmic nor fast
I always heard people from Appalachia were slower players than those from NY?
Its the likes and dislikes bar at the top,it looks like a pencil with a red ereaser
