Great tribute. Glad to see Bill get the recognition he deserves and from those who took his style to unbelievable heights. Bill's contributions to the 5-string are many. He invented the Keith-Scruggs tuners, to the delight of banjo pegheads everywhere, as well as their owners. It was his tabbing of all of Earl's stuff that helped to persuade Earl to publish his banjo book, too. So glad he did. I still refer to mine, bought in 1974.
    Thank you, Bill Keith. RIP

What a wonderful group of musicians - and giving homage to a real musical legend (Bill Keith). That's talent folks!!! After listening to these titans - I can now say "I used to think; I could play the Banjo?"

This is long over due and wonderful to see all these geniuses on one stage...Bill Keith, my hat's off to you as you are the creator of all of this new magic. I loved how Bela always brings "Bela" to his playing and thinks in his own magical world. Tony T. and March Horowitz seemed to be the most dedicated to Bill's original style. Noam always gives us a treat way up the neck. Ryan C. is very jazz oriented and brilliant...just how I hear it and I loved it all...Jack Baker NYC

The Break by Cavanaugh at 5:12 is one of the finest solos ever performed on the banjo...

Pretty funny that I'm directly in front of Robert in this video taking a video on my own phone. And my bald spot it prominent in this video.

I once attended a Bill Keith banjo workshop at a festival in Grass Valley, California. Bill asked us if we wanted to learn a tune or whether we wanted to learn how to play any tune. Obviously, every said the latter. So, Bill just said to learn to play every scale with the notes in any order. Then he played his arrangement of "Nola."

This entire performance is available on TH-cam in 2 parts, 2 hours of amazing playing with some very amazing moments. It was one of the highlights of my life to contribute to putting this event together in a few small ways. Search for Keith Banjo summit by Fred Robbins. If you know the players, watch their eyes and reactions to each other, there is a lot of joy and wonder in the full video, this is just a taste. And yeah, Ryan really tears it up in several parts, he worked for weeks getting ready for this show. He and Bela spent the whole afternoon working up their duets and both sweated through them.

Love this session - Too bad the camera man completely missed Noam's break on Devil's Dream, and instead filmed Bela doing the backup!

The definition of perfect pitch. Being able to toss a 5 string banjo into a toilet without touching the sides.

all players on the stage are wonderfully inventive…Béla practically invented his own genre, what on earth are you talking about?
