I have to admit, when you share stories, your talents, and your sense of humor…it sends ripples into the universe. I’m lovin’ the Uncle Larry Impersonation videos and initially, I was like WTF??? So many of your fans have ridiculous guitar skills, and the impersonations are so good…while it may appear as mockery and imitation, it’s easy to see it’s coming from a place of love! Your Homeskoolers are the best.
Dm9b7 has been my go-to chord when I really need to ‘fine-tune’ any acoustic guitar or piano with these worn out ears. Thanks for validating my elderly right or left side brain. Larry see my elderlyness can’t recall which side does what between these ears! Historically I first became aware of the power of the m9b7 from the David Crosby song “Triad”. Give that song a try fellow Homeskoolers if you enjoy acoustic guitar sounds combined with sheer talented songwriting. Peace and Joy Uncle Larry and a Merry Christmas to Homeskoolers around the rock.
Man i couldnt even get passed the intro song today, i immediately found Chuck on Spotify and listened to the whole record, i was moved in a huge way, and had "poison" on repeat for about an hour alone, just got back from a long gig, now to finish the rest of the school session haha....man i love u bro, but u know that already...2 weeks til Nashville!
Tom, I love hearing you give some props to Ace Frehley. Ace made a whole generation of young lads like me want to play guitar, and especially a Les Paul. Thank you for all you do brother.
I agree. KISS got me into guitar as a kid. Ace played great, catchy stuff. I got to play bass on a track of his 10,000 Volts album and that was such a cool thing.
A close family friend was Chuck's college roommate. He sang the praises of Uncle Larry a couple years before Home Skoolin' and sent me the very first HS video the day you posted it. Little did I know I was just discovering my favorite guitar player. I'm reminded to be thankful for family and friends every time I see a new video pop up. Rock on, Unc.
Thanks for turning me on to Chunk Cannon, Larry! That dude is a righteous songwriter and performer. By the way, I LOVE it when you sing...I'm not a singer, either, but even if you're not note perfect you nail the groove every time. It gives inspiration for the rest of us to give it a shot. Keep rockin'!
Thank you Tom... I have come to realize that you are kind of my guitar guru at this point. I really resonate with your playing, your teaching, and just your being. I learn so much from just watching you, as well as from the things that you explain/teach. And you bring us into the inner world of the studio, and of making music every day... which I love. Sorry... Not to get too serious, but I want to share what I am feeling because you have made a huge difference in my musical life. With such genuine enthusiasm, generosity and sincerity you have moved me. Thanks so much ! I am really looking forward to seeing you in Chicago in Feb! And I have really been enjoying the Uncle Larry impersonation videos! A few have definitely been stand outs! Lots of laughs for sure!
Thank you Tom for introducing us to Chuck. Listening to just a bit of his catalog, wow, what a songwriter and singer. Only wish I didn’t live 3,000 miles away, it should be a special birthday night.
Thanks Uncle Larry for the Bryan Sutton video. I have been gifted with short, stubby sausage fingers and always considered them a detriment to playing guitar. After watching Bryan play, I now have hope. FYI, I like late night, after work, chillin' Larry.
Your interpretation of the Micheal McDonald DB song was awesome ! I could not turn t off before you said over and out can you do it to another DB song? I was mesmerized by your ability to transpose that song to guitar…wow!!!
Love Chuck Cannon have seen him many times over the years, one of my favorite Singer/Songwriters. Very cool to see him at your In Stereo release party at 3rd!
Had never heard of Chuck before. Just went and listened to some of his stuff, and all I can say is, "Wow!" Thanks, Uncle Larry, for letting us know about him.
Damn It! Uncle Larry. You are already a legend, in the guitar world. I have watched every video since day one .I have learned your licks and solos from records forever, way before TH-cam. Every one of your videos are so inspiring, beyond words. You are an artist Sir, I need you to stop with this i can't sing bullshit and just cut a record dude. The pain and "soul" in your voce are amazing,
I went through a phase in the 90’s when I listened to The Wall every day for a year. Haven’t heard that song for 30 years but I sang every word right along with you. Gave me chills.
Is that the “Dogs” chord? My favorite Floyd song. So heartwarming to hear your kids taking such an interest in music and wanting you to be a part of it. My toddler son is getting a Loog 3 string strat for Christmas. Haha. Rock on man! 🤘

Tom Bukovac , while describing some lovely guitar I would give my left testicle to own- “It’s really.. * *dramatic pause* * quite nice”. Love it mate, you’re the best 😂
Loved your singing today, Uncle Larry. Went to listen to “Rip it out”, and you are so right about the drum break. I would love to hear your take on that solo.
Thanks, Unc! Catching up after a long workweek followed by getting laid off. Looks like I have a little more practice time in my future, at least. From the opening jam, through the banter, lessons, and "Nobody Home", its all gold. Thinking Marshall on guitar and Leo on drums, you've got the makings of an Eddie and Alex or Vinnie and Dime duo on your hands. Hopefully, the world will be ready for that musical prowess. Probably not. It will be refreshing. Be good to you 🙏🏻🤍

I love the Gibson acoustic segments . My first good guitar was a '68 J 50 . I still have it and it's still my favorite . I've had many others but some just stick out . Good stuff indeed !

Another great hang, Tom. Anton Fig played the best drum solo I ever heard at a Bonomassa concert. I used to hate them in the 70s. Too long and repetitious. Made me impatient. I loved Fig’s and didn’t want it to end. So strange. What a great guy.

Anton's drumming on those first two Frehley solo LPs were a major highlight. That and Ace's mastery of loose guitar wizardry.
