Duromax has had issues with bad NG to LPG-gas selector. You turned that selector really easy. Mine takes a bit of force. I'd contact Duromax and see if they will send you another selector.

I converted my dual fuel (propane/gasoline) and added natural gas as third source. Added new NG regulator. Im having the same issues. So I started playing with choke and researching and found out that choke needs to be at 70%, and when I start w/NG I have block off the vent hole on the filter unit. I also have to prime the regulator about 3 times to get the flow of gas in the carb. Those things seem to do the trick to start it. But it doesn't always start with first shot. I think there is enough gas flow in the pipe. It's the regulator that is having hard time to open to draw gas to carb.

You most likely need a high volume meter to be able to deliver enough fuel to run the generator. On all home install generator installs you must have a high volume meter installed to give it enough fuel to power the unit.

Do you know what the pressure is coming out of your gas meter? (Ex. 4oz/7" WC or 6oz/11" WC) I've been researching this topic in order to convert mine to tri-fuel and have learned the delivery pressure matters when it comes to the type of regulator on the generator. Since yours is already tri-fuel and runs fine on propane, it may be that the regulator is the 6 ounce version. If your meter is only delivering 4 ounce, that could be why it won't run on natural gas.

I suspect you're spot on. I think my manometer is bad, so I've ordered a new gauge and will try that out tomorrow. The generator documentation requires 6-9"WC so we will see what it's actually putting out. When you hear the air coming out of the hose end, that feels like more than 0.50 psi to me. Might need to add an intermediate regulator to step down the pressure. I didn't mention this in the video but I can hear gas flow through the meter even with everything in the house shut off, and the flow sound stops when I disconnect the generator gas hose. I soaped down every connection with the line, hose, fittings, and within the generator itself, but haven't found a leak. I suspect the pressure out of the meter is too high and it potentially damaged/ruptured the regulator in the generator itself. The gas may be flooding the carb/engine now. I'll start by verifying the line pressure and go from there.

My Firman trifuel starts on NG

I had the same issue with mine. I have a 25' line and tried to start the generator immediately after connecting to the meter.. It wouldn't start. But after waiting about ten minutes, she started right up. I'm just guessing, but perhaps it takes a few minutes for that line to saturate?...

0:16 You should have a shut-off valve after the meter and before the quick disconnect.
Very odd that it is not starting on natural gas. The only real difference between natural gas and propane is the orifice size. The propane is smaller. Gotta be a mechanical issue.

I do have the shut off valve. It's actually sitting loose on the gas meter next to the pipe wrench if you catch that in the video. I took it off in the event that it's not a full flow valve and is restricting flow to the generator. Amusingly, I think the problem is that the pressure is too high, and so I've picked up a new pressure gauge that will arrive Wednesday. The generator documentation specifies 6-9"WC so we will see what it's actually putting out. Might need to add an intermediate regulator to step down the pressure.

Yep, missed the valve in the picture. That looks like a ball valve so full port.
Keep us updated while you are on the journey to getting this resolved.

Solved. The gas pressure on the line I tapped into was too high (well over 30”WC). It turns out that the regulator on the other line out of the meter was exactly correct to step the gas pressure down to 7.5” WC. Started right up.

Thank you for posting the solution. So many many people don't.
I didn't even think about the "before the regulator" hookup.

Curious to see why. Subscribed since I just bought this as well to work on natural gas.

I came here to find out why mine wasn't starting. When I push the start button, it doesn't even try to start. I bet I got a bad battery.

So I’m having the same issue. Just not running on NGas. Was it a simple fix? Thanks

Purge air from gas line until you fill it with gas. Mine starts on 2nd try every time

for mine i had to bleed all the air out of line for about 10 seconds then finally started when reconnected

its all about that pressure in the hose. Natural gas may need a different regulator before it goes into your generator.
