  • Join me in this slightly chaotic, budget friendly embroidered book binding tutorial! I only just realized that I did the spine the wrong way (i think?) but I'll still be displaying it on my bookshelf lol.
I'll be rebinding the rest of the ACOTAR series, and I have plans to rebind a few of my other favorite series as well - subscribe to this channel to keep up with my embroidered creations ♥

Hi, that’s a wonderful idea! I need to try it too! Some tips, that might help with your next book.
    1. The accidie free supplies are preventing yellowing over time. If you're ok with the yellowing after a couple of years, it does not matter what you use :).
    2. You can use HeatnBond to attach your embroidered cloth to a thin sheet of paper. That paper prevents PVA-glue from seeping through. Then you can skip the step with the "second" covers :D.
    3. The little fabric pieces are called headbands. When done while binding the text block it strengthens the spine :D
    4. DAS Bookbinding is my channel to go for bookbinding.

@@HanEmbroidersis there a certain fabric used? I’m buying the supplies next week. Since I’m not good at embroidery, I’ve decided to do bead embroidery! Since I’m a beader. I think it will look just as cool! Thanks for the idea

I have some antique Texas Drs account books that need work. This idea might work! I could embroider Texas wildflowers, especially the bluebonnets.

The result is so cute, I love the flower embroidery and all the pretty little details !
I've made my first "real" embroidery project this month, I wrote my name with embroidery on a nice patterned fabric that I then used to cover my new handmade sketchbook. It looks good, but the lettering did end up quite bulky once glued to the board. The thickness of the thread under the fabric prevents it from laying completely flat against the board. I'm not sure if there's any way to avoid it...
Also regarding your process, I was surprised to see you use the hot glue gun. I only use the PVA glue to get the fabric on the board : easier to spread and no burning. But it does take some time to dry.
Was there a specific reason you chose hot glue over pva glue for the first part of the process ?

      thanks so much!!
did you use the full 6 strands of embroidery thread for your project? That could explain the bulkiness!
So i tested some PVA glue on the fabric but it seeped through almost immediately and gave me a mini heart attack - i added extra flowers to that spot and decided to only glue areas that wouldn't be seen. I have been given some great tips in this comment section that I'll be using on the second book of this series, but yeah basically I didn't let any glue touch the part of the covers that would be visible - if this makes sense!
I opted for the hot glue gun because it's so quick to dry and easier to work with than the runny PVA glue that I had on hand! :)

@@HanEmbroiders Oh ok, that makes sense !
I used only 2 of the 6 threads, but i went over a few areas several time because I was struggling to get an even line ^^' so that must have made the bulkiness worse
