Thanks for this. I have to make a wreath for my grandmothers funeral tomorrow because my florist is still on lockdown. Gives me the confidence to have a go!
I made a wreath today. Thank you. It was beautiful, I think. Can I send you a picture? When I started floristry almost 3 years ago, I had zero skill. I was cleaning buckets, flowers, etc just to make some money. I felt fortunate to learn from the right person The John McDonald. I've seen your creations on Flower Fundamentals. They were all spectacular. Thank you, John. I am now at Florist College training with a master florist all because of Flower Joos. I cannot help but cried today while making the wreath. So many memories. So bitter-sweet. So many mixed emotions. This Industry is not for the faint-hearted but it rewards those who are resilient and discipline. I am forever grateful, John and Janos. Xx
Thank you so much! We are all on a learning journey and flowers have limitless opportunities - congratulations to you on your wreath! If you want to send a picture out email is FlowerJoos@gmail.com 😀🙋🏼♂️🌼
That is lovely John, a beautiful design, the foliage really sets it off, covering the oasis and then adding the flowers. The leaf shine adds to it too, bringing the foliage alive as it were. I love statice, so versatile, a delicate flower which sometimes produces little white flowers. I will have to experiment using leather leaf instead of the poly-ribbon, which takes a while to pleat. Thank you for sharing your knowledge once again.
Thank you, I finished college end of June, move already passed the computer exam, and my post basket arrangement. I've passed the first portfolio I had to do in flower arranging no the assignment on knowledge of flowers. I'm just putting together my colour portfolio which I'm enjoying greatly, it's amazing how once you start working with flowers you see colour in a much different way.
croccatcher it's true - I must confess I have red / green colour blindness so colour is important. I tend to prefer simple strong combinations but the choices with flowers are limitless. It's something everyone can revisit at various points to get a new inspiration.
Your work is truly impeccable. Thank you for sharing your talent, and making it easy to follow along. I've subscribed to you.... so thrilled I found you!
You can do either - or a mix is nice. 😀 florist foliage tends to last well, garden foliage gives it a less commercial look. Just give it all a good cut and drink in water 💦 😀🌼
Gemma Dunn we have a wide range of videos on the channel so it’s a good resource we hope. We don’t specifically have a moss base Christmas one, but we do have a winter foliage one. Happy learning 🙋🏼♂️😀
Hi John. Please could you tell me what other types of flowers can stand up to outside conditions and last in the purple, pink and white colour ranges. Also, do you advise soaking the oasis in water treated with flower food?
Kim Pim there are two types of foam - one that can soak up water and become wet, and the other is dry - we call it dry sec foam, and this can’t be soaked. This foam is firmer and stronger and will hold artificial stems firmer, and the foam will not be damaged by water or age, so yes, if you can get the dry sec ring then thus would be better to make a design to keep and last.
Than you John such a pleasure to watch you
create your designs. Godbless
Thank you 😊

Emily Gilbey just take your time and enjoy the process. Work in a methodical way. Your grandmother will love that you have made it for her. 💕

Thank you!! =)
Hi John do you have to use foliage from the florist..?
I would like to use foliage from the garden would that be okay to use?

@@FlowerJoos Hi John thanks for the reply ,you are fantastic.!
Do you have a basic christmas wreath and some basic videos, im learning at the moment?

can you use it for a table and put a candle on the midlle
monique austin yes, that would look fab! Even a nice glass hurricane lamp with candle would be good.
Can I use that same foam base if I was using artificial flowers or do I need a different type of base?
