Useful comparison. Thank you for that.
I agree with you that some acrylic paints look very similar.
Mostly only at first glance, but when you look into them more you notice the differences.
By the way, the Meeden red is a little more orange than that of Golden and the yellow of Meeden is more greenish than that of Golden, which is more neutral.
A test where you mix half of a colour with half of the respective white is a good way to compare the pigment density. e.g. the Golden black with the same amount of Meesden white and another mixture with the same black and the Golden white to be sure.
If Meeden is evenly less pigmented, there won't be such an intense difference to the golden,
because the Meeden white is also less pigmented than the other colours from them.

Thanks for your feedback. No but I'm hallucinating, it's crazy!!! Why does everything have to be poisoned on this earth, personally, I can't take it anymore....No, sorry, Golden It's for loners who know how to open windows in winter to paint!!!!
If you're talking about the color differences between Meeden and Golden and their pigmentation, it's normal to have differences but not all brands use the same pigments and that's normal, each brand uses a very specific chart for their brand....
I think Meeden's performance really stands out because its texture really impressed me in a thick layer with a palette knife.
Mixing to test the density of the pigments is a good approach, but hands-on experience with Meeden reveals its quality. Its texture, ease of mixing and finish are impressive for such an affordable price.
Meeden is non-toxic, which is a huge plus for those who want to paint safely. I can't see myself opening my windows to paint in the middle of winter, or a 2-year-old baby coming to touch the gold paints while his mother is concentrating on her paintings, licking his fingers... Meeden offers excellent value for money, especially for those looking for a safe and effective alternative without opening the window in the middle of winter, especially in Europe.
And to be sure of the quality of the pigments when I receive an order, I use the Daler-Rowney "Heavy Body" or the Schminke "extra fine". This brand does not make "Heavy Body" and the weirdest thing is that they are super textured but at the same time they are the most expensive....German quality requires it!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, but I think Meeden definitely deserves to be highlighted for its quality and performance.

The pigments from the Meeden set look a bit sketchy, the Mid Yellow is PY1, Scarlet is PR21, Crimson is a mix of PR21 and PR13. These are pigments that I haven't seen in the student and artist ranges of better-known, high-quality manufacturers, and I prefer to be cautious when it comes to fading resistance.
I think this is OK for any short practice pictures, but if I'm working on a picture for a long time, I want to be able to rely more on the paints.
My knowledge only goes so far, products are labelled with the California label if they are mainly sold in the USA, because the state of California has strict regulations for substances that other state that are known to cause cancer.
I also have a few tubes of cadmium paint from European brands that don't have this California reference on them.
I think as long as I don't touch the paints and ventilate constantly while painting, I'm relatively safe from the harmful substances.

@askialuna7717, No, we're talking about equipment for beginners and without the risk of poisoning yourself. AAAAaaaaaa tongues loosen when you tackle a hard-hitting subject, don't they? 😋 I love it and thank you very much for your detailed comments and your knowledge! That said, I remain a little skeptical on certain points. Golden has a good reputation, but does that really justify a price three times higher for a texture and shine that, in my opinion, are not so different from Meeden? Besides, I made a painting with Meeden, and honestly, I got the same shine and texture!
Regarding toxicity, even if California has strict standards, I personally prefer to opt for non-toxic paints, regardless of the regulations. In the end, Meeden remains an interesting alternative, especially for short projects or to practice.
Thanks again for your thoughts, it is always enriching to be able to exchange. See you soon! 😊 A propos

Yes, the price is justified. Golden and Liquitex Heavy Body are top tier.

Ok the pigments in meeden pain are cheap entry level pigment that have poor durability, that don't compare with the goldens ones, especially the red and yellow,
the grinding of the paint is much better in golden paint that means better tinting in white and more vovid color in tint,
the quality control and customer service is far beyond meeden,
golden is not random product that we don't know the manufacture location,
in the meeden there are the same type of product to maintain the paint i think, and this is the case for nearly all the acrylic paint that is not designed specialy for kids
Golden is one of the most pigmented, you use less paint when you paint opaque, beacause less layer of paint to reach full opacity, when you want to paint glacies you put medium in colors and they stay richer than studiant paint direct from the tube
I have tested many brands of high end acrylic from all over the world, golden is one of the very best if not the best

Mon petit Julien 😊 Thanks for your review, Julien! Happy "resurrection" then, if you're willing to spend a lot of money for what you call the "best". I understand that Golden pigments have their "haute couture" advantages, but for those who want good value for money without the toxic and overpriced side, Meeden remains a great alternative, especially for beginners.
With Golden, it's not just the pigments that are expensive, it's also the air quality: when drying, the toxic substances spread throughout the room. When you have children (or even for yourself), you have to ventilate constantly - and opening the windows in autumn-winter is not ideal for painting peacefully.
As for the choices of certain American brands, it is true that in the United States, we more often see the use of risky products in various areas... But hey, everyone has their own priorities. I prefer to offer good quality for those who are discovering painting, without emptying their wallet. And once they're hooked, they can always explore more expensive options. But to start with, Meeden is really the best! 😊 Bisouuuuuus 😉

@@KatinaFineArt i think meedeen have the same product than can cause toxicity in their paint but golden mention it on their tubes

@@julienfauvaux2055 Thanks for your comment, Julien! It is true that some brands might share similar components, but transparency plays a key role. Golden explicitly indicates the presence of toxic substances, which is not common for more affordable paints like Meeden. This is also why I appreciate this brand for beginners, who can paint without breaking the bank or exposing themselves to strong products.
For my part, I do not use acrylic in thin layers, but in thick textures, and I must say that the texture stays in place after drying, with a beautiful shine. This is why I recommend Meeden - for a pleasant texture quality, without toxicity, while respecting everyone's health.
That said, I am completely ready to agree with you... but only if you subscribe and share with your friends! Deal? 😉

Golden is better. Period. Buy whatever you want, but it’s clear that quality isn’t even close. You’re throwing good money after bad in my opinion.

Thanks for your review, but let me share my experience! 😊
I discovered Golden thanks to an influencer who praised that the texture of Golden was incredible, as incredible as oil paints and so I said to myself yay, I was really impatient, but when I opened the tube, reality quickly caught up with me.
As soon as it dried, the relief did not remain like oil paint and I realized that in addition to being highly toxic, these paints require good ventilation to avoid inhaling the vapors... which is not ideal especially for beginners!
Since the release of my video, Golden has indeed lowered its prices by 20%. This shows how much a more affordable alternative can make a difference. Is it just a coincidence?
Personally, I prefer other brands that offer good quality without ruining your health or your wallet. I noted the best acrylics that I tested in the description of the video and of course, the Golden is for me at the bottom of the scale because of its high toxicity because as it is noted on the packaging, it causes cancer!!!
That said.... if you subscribe, I will completely agree with you! 😆😉
