      Definitely, the dominant trait of Nagy's coaching tenure with the Bears. Fields showed lots of talent and accuracy with his arm and legs. He needs to adjust to the pro game, and lack of weapons with the Bears compare to OSU. He didn't have to throw the ball away much at OSU, which hurt him a lot this season with the Bears. A lot more need to throw the ball away this season than he was expecting.

    • @joshhughart289
      @joshhughart289 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem way the line and receivers forced him into situations where throwing the ball away was the best option way too often. The man was trying to make something happen which is what any winning QB is trying to do. You can throw the ball away half of your passing downs and expect to win games. He will be better next year. Probably not elite because you can only improve the line and weapons so much in one off-season and boy do they need to get better around Fields.

      exactly! like the pass at 2:25.... that is the pure definition of a PERFECT pass, an absolute DIME! Robinson is double teamed, with a defender over the top, and one underneath, both half a yard or so from him(an arms length). If he overthrows it, under throws it, throws it too far in front of him, or behind him.... its an Interception, out of bounds, or incomplete. There is literally a football sized window he needs to place it in, and he does just that. Hell.... 90% of QBs in the leauge would consider that covered, and wouldnt attempt it, let alone thread the needle, and throw a DIME!

Mooney had a nice season that looked great compared to anyone else the Bears had at receiver. I see Mooney as a good slot receiver on a really good team. Two quick points if you're looking at statistics to evaluate Justin Fields rookie season.
    1. He played for a coach and in an offense that made 5 different quarterbacks, and several 8-10+ year veterans, look horrible. Not to mention the fact that the offense he was running clearly wasn't designed to make him successful because his coach refused to run an offense other than the one he drew up on a chalkboard 10 years ago.
    2. He threw for 7 TD's (ran for two) and threw 10 interceptions. Of those 10 interceptions, I believe three were on the final play of the game on desperation Hail Mary's when the game was already over. Several others were tipped balls and/or drops.
    Now, he also put up some numbers in garbage time so if we're being fair, we need to remember that as well. He absolutely needs to improve, but we haven't seen what he can do with a strong group of players around him and a system that's designed to make him (or any QB for that matter) successful. The deck was stacked against him as a rookie which sucks, but his skill set and toughness/work ethic is undeniable. I hope the Bears can make a good hire for the first time in decades because I really want to see what Fields can do in an NFL caliber offense.

    Fields had more energy and raw talent at the QB position than I've ever seen as a bears fan. I have no doubt that he can do incredible things in the future - he can't take so many sacks/INTs, which is a common problem in young QBs that try to extend plays, but HOLY CRAP does he need to work on ball security. As long as he addresses those, he'll almost certainly become a top 10/15 QB, it's just a matter of time and proper coaching. If the FO plays their cards right over the next couple years, Chicago can be ready to make a SB run in the next 2-3 years, biggest problem is the salary cap being spent on an aging Mack.

He is a rare quarterback and a rare athlete with speed, toughness, a howitzer arm with a radar eye who can throw it as precisely as any quarterback in the NFL this side of Aaron Rodgers. Give him another two receivers, keep Kmet and Mooney, Herbert and Montgomery and get one or two linemen and with his accuracy they are a top-five offense in the NFL.

    Just get my man an O-Line or at least a coach that runs things through Justin and not on the coaches agenda. I’m an OSU fan and obviously watched him in college. Rhythm and confidence oozed off of him. Every bears game that I could watch, watching him was nothing like watching him in college. Yeah it’s the NFL. Yeah the game is faster. Yeah guys are bigger, faster, stronger, and smarter. He seemed almost robotic when he played and every play called was predetermined. (Meaning he had no say in the play and had to do what he was told to do) I’m expecting a great 2nd year from him.

    That pass at 2:25 is the pure definition of a PERFECT pass, an absolute DIME! Pause it before it gets to Robinson, and Pause it the moment it hits his hands.... He's got a defender over the top of him, another underneath him, both are 1 arm length away from him literally half a yard. On top of that he's running at the out of bounds which is less than 5 yard from him. If Fields under throws it, its an interception, if he overthrows it, its an interception, throws it too far ahead of him, he's goes out and its incomplete, if he throws behind him its intercepted or incomplete. He has a football sized window he needs to place the ball for that play to happen.... and he does just that. Literally threads the needle, to deliver an absolute DIME.
    Thats a throw that only 5% of QBs in the league can make, or would even consider that an open receiver to throw to.

    I have a lot of hope that Luke Getsy is going to get the most out of Fields, and that Fields is going to take full advantage of his offense. I haven't been this excited for an upcoming Bears season in quite a while. I love Fields arm and downfield accuracy, ability to dodge defenders and take off running, and his mental fortitude and drive to excel. He needs to clean up those fumbles big time and he needs to work on reading coverages and making snap decisions. But his God given ability is the greatest I've ever seen out of any Bears quarterback. He has the arm of Cutler with the scrambling ability of Kordell Stewart. If he can put it altogether he will be the star of all stars in Chicago.

  • @Woynaa
    @Woynaa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Been watching him for a while and there is a ton to love about him. He might start slow, but he has constant confidence, reaches his goals and performs in big moments. He wins a lot once he really adapts to his situation i.e. Elite 11 2017 MVP, back to back CFP berths, OSU Clemson II performance, production in last 5 NFL starts, etc. He has already played at the highest level a QB can in high school and college. His total yardage and running ability is very simaliar to Lamar and Allen. Because most people dont watch every game, a lot of people dont realize how many winning plays they make with their legs. Justin season this year had a lot of problems. The offensive line gets a lot of the blame, but his recivers were bad if not worse. So many dropped touchdowns or bad routes. The line let him get sacked 36 times in 10 starts, but the route running and cement hands made them one of the worst red zone teams in the NFL. And dont forget that Justin is a gunslinger. He has that same baseball background as Wilson, Mahomes and so many others. He wants big plays every play. His ability to make that happen was not helped by a fair amount of calls that took touchdowns away. The coaching staff didnt help much either, but hopefully someone like Daboll, Flores or Harbaugh can get their hands on him and build a winning team around him. Bright future for him.

Josh allen his rookie year had very similar stats to Justin’s. You see the Bills give up and call him a bust after one year? NO! Rookie year is all about seeing potential and star-like flashes to build on. Out of all the rookie quarterbacks… Justin Fields had the most star-like moments.
