Wow... now that was absolutely fantastic! That clawhammer banjo is from another world and I wish I could have heard the guitar and mando players better.
Bravo!!!! Bravo!!! Bravo!!!
...So far, I have searched TH-cam for different covers of this song...and to my mind and soul...this is the best! ...But, I am open to hearing others versions of the song. if you care to tell me who or provide a link. I am learning this song at the moment and will sing it in a few weeks at a session.
The mylar head is worn through the frosting to the clear base. You're seeing either the color of his shirt behind the banjo, or possibly the color of a cloth that was stuffed inside to reduce the amount of ringing. Absolutely a great version of this song.
This performance speaks to me, even if somebody thinks the guitar solo is a 'hot mess'. That's probably because I can't go home again. First heard the tune on "Skip Hop & Wobble", Jerry Douglas, Russ Barenburg, Edgar Meyer.
This is what is called the joy of live music, Daniel. It drives us to heights of performance. I think that while it embarrasses you, it seems to have brought happy smiles to his own bandmates.
@@kittensquack6695 I don't think it's any kind of mess at all. Some comment down the thread from 2018 described it that way. To me, as to you, it's pure joy unleashed.

Just love the banjo player/singer - no frills, music talks. Great musician. Respect from wintry Finland
This one is popular at our old time jams in Central Iowa but I never heard anyone sing it. Love it!
How could anyone click a "dislike" on this one? Very nice version!
Great tune. AMEN
Bloody brilliant. Listened maybe a few hundred times! Lovin it here in New Zealand.
I might be there with you on the view count. Shows you don't have to play fast to be brilliant.
Beautiful the way it should be played and great harmonies
An original touch to a traditional song without a violin player.. Well done and enjoyable.
dlagrua fiddle
The bass player keeps them all together. Blends in just right.
That's just what the bass does!! Along with the rhythm guitar!!
🤩
I love this rendition. And, I love all the players especially the banjo man. Excellent performance...lots of soul. Bravo!
Best version on the tube =)
This is a beautiful tune. Big Scioto River is where the Shawnee Indians had their villages in the days before Tippecanoe. Shawnee towns.
Love the man's banjo playing. Great band all around!
The best version on the net by far!! Love the chords you play to it.
Is what I'm thinking, too Luna !
how can you not be happy when this song and this video and this music exists in the universe! Keep it up guys!
Fantastic! Never heard a lyric to this tune. Greetings from Australia....where we are still learning bluegrass!
I could watch the banjo player all night, love his style
I watch you guys every night before going to bed, I just love your music so much. Need more!

Certified classic
Strong banjo and guitar improvising on this tune.
Love it. Great to hear it in proper old time speed. Currently my top TH-cam view.

These folks are great. Banjo picker is exceptional
what can one say. these people are fantastic
Sweet Banjo playing
lovely...like a ballad. I am working on playing like the mando player....very sweet.
It's all in the thumb!!❤
lord i am happy i came upon these cats
Oh yeah!!!
What every old time bluegrass performance needs. A sitting audience.
c'mon half of them wanted to be up there picking along, and the other half were musicians trying to get the chord changes and fingering and such!
I love the red on his banjo head
best version without a fiddle. damn good
Grate!!!
The guitarist GIVES!
And by the way, the banjo player and I fought at Sharpsberg with Bobby Lee in 1862. That boy's a shooter!
Very Good 👍
Great Guys; Great Music!
lovely clawhammer!!
There are busier and artier version of this tune. The banjo performance on this version along with the feel of the band is one of the greats.
👍👍👍👍✌️❤️
He plays hard clawhammer bluegrass. That's why they call him "Blood On The Banjo" Sherril.
I love this.. great work.. I need to know what the red stains are ?? ( on the banjo head) LOL

Absolutely a great version of this song.
Blood, man, blood. That thar banjer' is being SHREDDED! Hee hee
@@RichStillman It is a cloth.
great clawhammer right there
so cool, so great--near perfect. DO they do a version of chinquapin?
Fantastic!
Can’t understand why most of the crowd look ready for bed?
the shots of the audience may have been edited in from another time or even another place--not necessarily while thos song was playing.---could be.
look at that banjo
The wear marks on his banjo face says it all...
Nice
What tuning is the banjo player using? I've tried this song with Double-D tuning and with open G tuning and just can't see how he's playing that.
He put a cloth inside the banjo to dampen the sound, i have heard.
Can anyone tell me what the maker of the banjo he is playing is? I don’t recognize it. Sounds great.
Hey there, the maker of the banjo is Ome! And thanks!
I think it’s a sweet grass right? Do you know the year? Thanks Graham, love your music!
Thanks @@stringfever0151 its called a Triple X, made in 1974
Thanks, killer banjo! I wonder if they’re still made?
Graham, I finally found one in great shape only it’s a 1984 model triple x will be here next week. Do you think I can get close to your sound?
Anyone know what tuning Graham is using?
I'm pretty sure key of A... Open G capo'd up to the second fret... aEAC#E
This is the dam name of a literal Roblox game (westbound) and a name of a group in it (rangers) but six years before it happened 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳

That guitar player is having more fun just playing and IMHO that's what it's all about right? great comment.

Stringbeans little brother
Bro is this for the westbound clan LOL
epic
Great band and music, but dang that crowd sucks
I didn' know Angela Merkel listens to bluegrass 😂 @2:13
Angela Merkel on 2:13😜
The mandolin picker sounds like he just started learning how to play
Nayr: Did u entirely miss his solo? 2:21 to 2:55? I came here for the clawhammer banjo, but the mandolin player is professional.
that guitar solo is a hot mess, but i love this version!
Hey Karen C! Where can we hear your blistering and masterful guitar solos?!
