    THANK YOU for suggesting the Voxelab Aries! I have the Aquila, and it started giving me feed or print issues. When you suggested the Aries, I ordered it. Just like you stated, took it out of the box, leveled the bed, loaded filament, and started printing. INJECTION MOLD quality! VERY impressed so far! I swear, you are my 3D print HERO! Again, thank you! I look for more educational videos from you to help me improve my printing!

    Ive had two situations with my Voxelab Aquila, both times the support responded to me within the hour. Grade A support. This looks like an awesome printer, i just got my Aquila and i love it, i would love to get one of these too, but that will have to wait till I graduate college.

    I just got one of these this week and the stock PLA filament printed awesome. Fast forward a few days and I ordered PETG filament by accident, because I didn't catch the difference. Well after trying to get it to print properly for two days I have given up. Doesn't stick to the glass bed regardless of the settings and curled up at the nozzle. Switched back to PLA and printed like a charm. Just a word of warning for everyone not to waste their time like I did.

    • @3DPrintSOS

      It’s definitely finicky with other materials. But pla, total beast.

      I had the EXACT same issue. Worse yet, I would fiddle with the settings, get one good print...then NEVER be able to duplicate it. Fiddle with the setting again, get one good print and then NEVER AGAIN. As I type I am literally printing my very first project with the replacement PLA I purchased out of frustration. Looks good so far.

    I have had an issue with my aquilla that I believe you could help me. It printed great for the longest time. But long story short I was tinkering with it and went to print forgetting to level the bed. The nozzle slammed into that bed and made an awful noise. I changed the hotend and PTFE tube. I adjusted everything correctly leveled my bed and put my glass bed back on. I was using my magnetic bed but was damaged due to this incident. Now I can't get a print past the first layer. Any help would be appreciated. Did I bend something? It seems to be leveled correctly but halfway through the first layer there is allot of stringing and warping. I've tried everything I know if mechanically. Never had to calibrate anything on the software side yet. Sorry if I'm rambling and thanks in advance for any help .

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These things happen. Did you replace the nozzle? Have you cleaned the bed with alcohol? Typically the first layer adhesion mostly relies on good leveling.

    • @3DPrintSOS

  • @Nemesisnb
    @Nemesisnb 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I bought one of these last week and it's my first 3d printer. I'm having awful trouble getting the filament to stick to the glass bed.
    Filament extrudes OK and I've tried several different makes including that supplied with the printer - I've levelled the bed many times following the way it should be done. It starts to print and because the first layer doesn't stick properly it then starts dragging it around the bed, ruining the print. I've tried using a recommended spray glue, but still no joy. I'm beginning to wonder if there is a fault and it should go back. Grateful for any help!

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Neil. There are three reasons why filament doesn’t stick.
      One, dirty, oily bed. Clean it with soap and water and isopropyl alcohol.
      Two is leveling. This is the main one. There is a right way to do it. If you want to know the right gap, start a print and use the knobs to move the bed up and down and keep moving it slowly closer to the nozzle until it sticks. Start with the bed further away from the nozzle and move it up and the print starts. Then when you find the right gap, restart the print. This is called live leveling.
      Finally, temperature. 200 on the hotend and 60-70 on the bed is typical for pla. Sometimes depending on ambient temps and environment going 10 hotter on the bed can be the ticket.
      I’d start with live leveling. ;)

    • @Nemesisnb
      @Nemesisnb 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@3DPrintSOS Thanks for your suggestions - I've took the glass bed off, given it a serious clean, taken the extruder out and cleaned it. There was some filament stuck in it. This seems to have worked - filament is now sticking to the bed with no problem 😁
      Issue I'm now having is that once prints reach a certain height, it's as though printing is shifting on the x-axis, so rather than build layers on top of each other, it's shifting along with each layer. I think I may need to photograph it to show exactly what I mean, unless this is any form of known issue?
      Thanks for your help!

      Hi Jules. Sounds like you might have gotten too close to the bed on that print. It should never be so close that the plastic embeds itself. One of the ways you can it off is a flat razor blade. If that that still doesn’t work, then print a large square. Enough to cover most of the bed. Then after a few layers, stop the print and peel it off. I’d there was plastic on the bed, it will come off. Just all depends on what actually happened. What you’re seeing could be just a scraped bed from being too close as well.

I'm using Elegoo ABS-like grey resin and getting basically perfect prints. Don't use their own-label slicer except for pre-supported parts (if you have pre-supported it's pretty fast, it's just not good at generating supports). It's definitely a decent machine at a great price. Sure you can get a bigger build volume, but not for anywhere near the prices. As with the other machines the impression is that it's not particularly innovative, but it does things well enough for a very competitive price.

    Great review! Thanks for being honest about the defective coupler.
    tbh this printer looks less appealing like an Anycubic Vyper at this price point. More expensive and less features.
    It is easier to enclose though so it's got that going for it lol

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would love to test the Vyper but sadly to get access to a review unit, I need to reach at least 10k subs. Maybe one day. I cant quite afford to buy them myself. But it does look amazing. Would love to try it. This printers strong suit is how easy it is to get up and running and how stout it is.

    What kind of cube is it? Core xy or an ender4? Who's main board is in it? It looks like the hot end is a creality type as with the aquila. I hate the idea of another proprietary extruder. Awesome video Fedor. I love the daughter board concept. I have been working on an idea for one for our Hbots. My Geeetech A10M has a daughter board which is where the thought came from for me. It would provide easy hotend repair and abl instalation. Anyway Thanks for the quick look, it seems I am going to have to buy another printer. Did they send CURA as its slicer? Is it slicing as an Ender or a Flashforge? Happy printing buddy.

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!
      It’s not a core xy printer. It’s a Cartesian printer in a sturdy frame essentially. I don’t think any of it is Creality based, as far as I understand. Could be wrong, I don’t have the new Creality stuff.
      The hotend itself is the same as the Aquila. I’m ok with that, it works.
      I haven’t torn it apart yet to see under the hood but I plan on it. Especially if there is interest in that.
      Yea I liked the sister board for sure. Will make the wiring a bit easier.

    • @3DPrintSOS

      They sent their own slicer because it works with their WiFi. It doesn’t connect to much else..yet.

    • @dannybush6131

      @@3DPrintSOS That sounds kind of strange, there should only be the driver as far as the wifi connection. But what do I know, other than I do not have wifi on my machines at all. Find that driver and I'll bet Cura would pick it right up as far as wifi. It just seems to me that if you can get wifi to a pi from the slicer you have the capability of getting it to the Aries Have you sliced anything with it yet? Who's slicer does it look like? I know you are primarily a Cura user.

    HEY- another great vid....
    Remember my first comment to you about the aquila? Out of the box brand new - didn't work out of the box- Its a great printer (over 1000hrs on my modified one), as I am sure this one is, But Voxelab HAS TO DO BETTER than this................................................

    • @3DPrintSOS
      @3DPrintSOS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that QC is an issue and should be taken more seriously. As the same time my expectations must be set lower in my brain. Because for a printer to cost $168 and have high quality parts is just going to be impossible. And this machine is more expensive because of the frame construction and quality of materials on the frame and plastics. It’s a shame mine had an issue, but it all depends on how you look at it. 20cents and I’m back in the game. No sweat off my brow. Like you said, you love your aquila and you did t give up on it cause it had a few hickups. You think with all you’ve invested in it, it should still cost $168 bucks?
