Antz and The Prince of Egypt were actually box office hits. Antz grossed $171.8 million dollars worldwide on a budget of $42-105 million, while Prince of Egypt grossed $218.6 million dollars worldwide with a $70 million budget and became the most successful non-Disney animated feature at the time. It also got a direct-to-video prequel and being made into a stage musical.

I do have to say that even though I like Disney, I love Dreamworks better. You can't deny that the Madagascar, Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda series were epic and had the best sequels ever. But considering Disney, they did have amazing movies such as Frozen 2 and Meet the Robinsons-my personal 2 favorites. Hey Mojo, you should do a list of best Dreamworks characters?
Wouldn't matter. The 3D technology already existed when Pixar came out, all Disney did was buy this studio in a much quicker timeframe. It only would have delayed Dreamworks by a year or so if they wouldn't.
Disney is a classic but is definitely going down hill as far as ideas and beating a dead horse for money (Star Wars being just one). Dreamworks on the other hand is either staying strong or getting better and I believe is actually better than Disney personally. HTTYD being one of, if not is my favourite film series of all time animation wise!
It is kind of interesting how back in early days of the internet and movie review circles, Disney/Pixar was considered better while DreamWorks would at times be criticize for it's tropes. To the point where the first How To Train your Dragon was given praise for not having some of those tropes. Now today a lot of people feel DreamWorks is doing much better than Disney especially after a year where they had two quality films (the bad guys and puss in boots the last wish) that outranked anything Disney had put out. Nevertheless, both companies have their legacy, their ups and downs, and have both produced some of the best works in animation history. Which one is better is an apple and oranges comparison, it all comes down to which one you prefer the most 🤔.
Like many others, I grew up watching Disney animated movies. To this day, Beauty and the Beast (1991) is still my all time favourite Disney film and it's not even close. Musicals are more up my alley personally.
Disney wins because of all the material from the past, But right now DreamWorks has the upper hand and might beat them in the future if it makes good quality movies, without any woke or message bullshit
Let’s do like Dumbledore and give a couple of extra points, for not apologizing if someone got offended by their past sterotypes, 1 point to Dreamworks; for including any race or gender type without patting in their back, 1 point to Dreamworks!!
The Incredibles is a Disney masterpiece and Kung Fu Panda is my fave Dreamworks movie. I should point out that Flushed Away is an underrated flick but also one of my favorites 👌🏻
That was a close one - as always. But it is nice to hear what both Disney and Dreamworks are capable of. They are very distinct studios and provide great content for every taste.
Disney is better than DreamWorks because they owned badass franchises & did a fantastic job with them outside of their animation category, Marvel & Star Wars. Heck, even Marvel made the best animated feature, Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse, if you count their co production films under licensed by Sony.
DreamWorks by a landslide! Shrek managed to win the _first_ Best Animated Feature award over Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius and Monsters' Inc. *DID YA HEAR THAT, PIXAR!?!*
As far as characters, I have to give to DreamWorks. Shrek, Po and Toothless are some of my favorites. And as far as the female characters goes, I would prefer Ginormica from Monsters vs Aliens over a lot of the more recent female characters that Disney and Pixar has been cranking out. And I still wish movies like Over the Hedge, Monsters vs Aliens, Megamind, Rise of the Guardians and Captain Underpants got sequels.
Can you please do a battle of Disney Junior vs PBS Kids? I also think that with so many bad news in general around the media but also some thrills for endangered species, It would help to do a ranking of the top 20 best and luckiest endangered species comebacks.
If you combined Disney's Characters, Box Office Sucesses, Relatability for Adults, and Animation Innovation and Dreamworks' Sequel & Franchise Quality, Reputation, and Faithfulness to Source Material what kind of animated studio would you get?

This really isn't a contest Disney is known for setting the standard for what an animated American film is and when it started to die created a new studio that did it again with Pixar. I get why you did it though there isn't anything close to Dreamworks. Its Disney and Ghibli then everything else and among the everything else its Dreamworks then everything else
Disney: 🏳🌈🤮🤓 Dreamworks: 🗿🍷🥶 I refused to believe Disney won. Besides this year is the first year they haven't made a single $1B movie since 2014. I still think DreamWorks is better with their movies, characters, story telling, villains, and ways to appeal to both kids and adults with both humors. DreamWorks deserves the win.
Frozen 2 in 2019 sold over 1.6 billion. The pandemic kind of destroyed the movie market in general. Straigh to streaming and digital rent or but early doesn't help neither.
Honestly, the disney renaissance was very good. Inovative, unique, beautiful art. And don't get me wrong, disneys animators sometimes get an 1$ payraise for a movie so that's that. Dreamwork is that one person at the casino who is all in, and it mostly paid off. Don't hate on disney or dreamworks. Hate on the new woke disney😁
Walt Disney Animation and Dreamworks Animation have been stealing each other's thunder. For instance, Dreamworks stole Walt Disney's thunder starting with The Prince of Egypt in 1998, Walt Disney stole Dreamworks' thunder starting with Frozen in 2013 and now Dreamworks stole Walt Disney's thunder once again with Puss in Boots: The Last Wish in 2022.
The OG Disney and I mean Disney in it's glory days(not the Goddamn woke symbol that it is now) was at its peak during the 1990s. But I still love some of the films by Dreamworks such as the Prince of Egypt, Chicken Run, Shrek, Madagascar, Over The Hedge, and Kung Fu Panda. No offense, but I prefer the Disney that I grew up with not the "Woke" brand that it is now because I despise it.
I prefer Disney over DreamWorks (even though I grew up with both since the 2000s), with films like "Meet The Robinsons" and "Frozen" being really good when it comes to story and characters, while franchises such as "Shrek", "Madagascar", "Kung-Fu Panda", and "How To Train Your Dragon" are all-time greats due to how fondly they're remembered
The only bad of both studios is that disney lied to us making fake versions of public domain stories and winning the oscars all the time while DreamWorks created one of the worst movies of all time
In all honesty, the only reason I saw here that Disney came out on top is due to its longevity. Don't get me wrong now Disney I can not argue is the better in this department but let's say we only look at Disney since DreamWorks started. Would they still be able to take the crown I can't say for sure.
Over the hedge and shrek are my favorite dream works movies and my favorite Disney movies are Toy Story and diary of a wimpy kid but if I had to choose one I would choose Disney 😉🙏🏿👍
What Disney does better than Dreamworks for me is its musica moments while I love the trolls films the songs are real song you’d hear in the car so Disney wins the musical round if you’d put one in and what Dreamworks does better than Disney is its spinoffs and sequels because while frozen 2 was great it the tv series based on Dreamworks films for me are awesome but Disney lacks tv spin-offs to there animation classic with the exception of Jake and the neverland pirates (2011-16) and the lion guard (2016-19) which I know the Disney fanbase has issues with I like them but Dreamworks wins the spinoff title
me personally . I love dreamworks movies. I wouldn't even bring disney near to dreamworks in any comparison or ranking. That's how bad disney is , atleast for me.

"Lilo and Stitch features an unconventional family structure subjected to scrutiny by Child Protective Services."
Mr. Peabody and Sherman: *Am I a joke to you?*
Should we ask watchmojo vs msmojo, which is better?
Owned by the same people since like 2004. No comparison needed.
Today it’s dreamworks BY FAR
Agreed
12:29 Marty: OH SUGAR HONEY ICE TEA !
Love both, but Disney has my heart! 💖🏰
Disney: 🏳🌈🤮🤓
Dreamworks: 🗿🍷🥶
I refused to believe Disney won.
Megamind vs. the Doom Syndicate
I think DreamWorks and Disney should work together🤝
You could at least give DreamWorks a shot by not including Pixar.
%100 Pixar. Without pixar 2d animation wont be as good
Both studios have given us great films but I go for Disney that has given us 100 years of great films.
17:59 Oh. Could've guessed it.
can you do Disney villains vs dreamworks villains?
DreamWorks is much better than Disney nowadays!
18:04 Team Disney Forever
Walt Disney Animation and Dreamworks Animation have been stealing each other's thunder. For instance, Dreamworks stole Walt Disney's thunder starting with The Prince of Egypt in 1998, Walt Disney stole Dreamworks' thunder starting with Frozen in 2013 and now Dreamworks stole Walt Disney's thunder once again with Puss in Boots: The Last Wish in 2022.
Apples vs. oranges🙄
Haha, the classic debate! Apples have that satisfying crunch, but oranges bring the refreshing citrusy zing. Tough choice - which side are you on?
@@WatchMojo Apples for me
Ok Disney are #1 but Dreamworks are my rank #2.
Cartoon Network Vs Disney Channel: Which is Better
good job about Disney vs DreamWorks from Which is Better?
The only bad of both studios is that disney lied to us making fake versions of public domain stories and winning the oscars all the time while DreamWorks created one of the worst movies of all time
Should have included illumination with Dreamworks consider there part of Universal. That’s fair.
They both made good stuff and bad stuff.
I dont take sides so it is what it is.
All about the media for the audience. 😎
I like them both I wouldn't Debate Between The Two Tho
15:53 DESTINY
Have you done Pixar vs. Dream works?
Round 8: Memes
But Which is the winner, as a tie-breaker?
If DreamWorks did their own version of Once Upon a Studio, all the characters would have to sing When You Believe
Love you Rebecca!
Finally you make this video!!
No
Dreamworks is better doing sequels that original movies
In all honesty, the only reason I saw here that Disney came out on top is due to its longevity. Don't get me wrong now Disney I can not argue is the better in this department but let's say we only look at Disney since DreamWorks started. Would they still be able to take the crown I can't say for sure.
Disney would still take the crown as it would be a Pixar vs Dreamworks battle. Dreamwoeks did beat them last year though
love diusney but dreamworks has 3 perfect trilogies
kung fu panda isn't a trilogy
@@ahmedmaklad6527 up till this point it is
@@Jo-fk1be No it isn't the fourth movie is coming out in March
@@ahmedmaklad6527 it is, but it's not out yet. So rn from wghat we've seen the trilogy is perfect
@@ahmedmaklad6527 yep it’s about to become a quadrilogy
Over the hedge and shrek are my favorite dream works movies and my favorite Disney movies are Toy Story and diary of a wimpy kid but if I had to choose one I would choose Disney 😉🙏🏿👍
TOP 10 Ugliest Robots
DreamWorks is my favourite.
1998: Of course.
2023: Of course, not.
@@brianodonnell4496 No matter the year, which matters is his legacy and prupose.
@@eugeniapatroncosta920 Dreamworks will do with Winnie-the-Pooh as a prequel.
Megamind 2 😂 😂
wtf was round 4
Disney, the greatest animation studio of all time.
Before 2010, its Disney IMO. After 2010, Dreamworks by a mile.
Megamind 2
DISNEY 🐭🐁🏰
What will Dreamworks do with Winnie-the-Pooh?
me personally . I love dreamworks movies. I wouldn't even bring disney near to dreamworks in any comparison or ranking. That's how bad disney is , atleast for me.
