Heard this story a while back on RSlash but it's such a crazy story that I enjoy listening to it to remind me that it could always be worse. I could have Dan as a brother....

@@DragonstoneWolfe Yeah, there are actually like 4 or 5 different channels I listen to that do the same style of reading reddit stories. For the most part they stick to different areas but sometimes there is overlap. I usually use KCC for the compilation videos while on long trips.
The fact the parents wouldn't do what OP did and didn't do it for Dan in regards to getting the camper is powtic justice as to what transpired

OP was FAR kinder than I'd have been...the moment they shoved past me into MY home uninvited, I'd have bellowed at the top of my lungs for all of them to get the FUCK out of MY HOME right GOD DAMN NOW before I call the Police and have them all hauled out in cuffs for Unlawful Entry, Assault (when they shoved me out of their way in the door) and Trespassing...
And if they argued or did ANYTHING other than immediately walk out the door, I'd grab me phone and dial 911...
After that, I'd call a Lawyer and get a Restraining Order (No Contact and Stay Away form my Home and Place of Work)...

Story 3: The moment they came in my door I would have immediately called the police since they were told to leave the property and never return.
I would have pressed the charges of Trespassing & Unlawful Entry since they were not invited into the home by the owner.
Personally I think the kids would be much better off far away from their caustic khunt of a mother...though OP's mother is only marginally better.

The takeaway shouldn’t be that the parents backed the wrong horse. The takeaway should be that parents shouldn’t back just one kid. If OP was the chosen, we’d be reading Dan’s story of triumph. I agree that OP is owed a huge and humble apology. But this whole golden child thing needs to end, full stop. I feel somewhat sad for Dan too. The Golden Children aren’t helped in these situations either. These parents are just the worst.

OP should have told Dad that he was pressing charges unless Dan gave him money for a new lock and the hardware to reinforce his door jamb and a locksmith to install it all. If there's any resistance, he would be sued for trespassing on top of that.
