  • The upper sphere of a hydragas unit for an MGF is filled with nitrogen (N2).
As time goes by the nitrogen disappears through the rubber diaphragma into the lower sphere where the hydragasfluid is. The system pressure is from factory app. 17bar (250psi) and drops the more the suspension gets stressed on bumpy roads and after high mileage.
This video shows how to measure the current N2 pressure with a standard hydragas pump. The process is similar to the test written to the MGF workshop manual for testing an individual displacer. Result here is pressure of about 18bar at an ambient temperature of app. 22°Celsius. The unit has been in stock since about 20 years and it is still in new condition.
Check the next video aswell where we show the N2 pressure with 5bar only from a high mileage MGF.

The pump is just the standard pressure pump for the Hydragas suspension. The suction pump at the beginning of the video is a simple break fluid filling assy.
