Im gonna order me one of these fans and mod. Bough a 48p poe version and this thing is soo freaking loud. It makes more noise than my two supermicro 826 servers (when they are on idling without load). And it has a high pitch fan noise. Seems people have complained about noice on theese for three years. Full fan noice without any poe load... Aruba needs to fix their firmware :P
Too put in perspective i have it in my 5m^2 dedicated room (room temp around 18degrees celsius). Inside a small switch rack with front door. With closed door to the room the noise from it is bothering people in the next room. A switch!!!
Soo if your gonna do the fan diy on the 48p version. Keep in mind that that one has two fans xD. In my case i replaced one of them with a noctua as it seems my noise issue was comming from one being faulty with ALOT of noise.
Where is the link to the Noctua Fan? I can not see it. Thanks a lot for the video though! This literally made me buy it since the only reason not to was the noise. @@JasonsLabVideos
I just setup 7 of these the other day, they still take 5-10 min to boot. BUT they are quiet, not silent but quiet. Still hands down the best Enterprise switch for SMB with Lifetime warranty.
