Just watched your great belt change tutorial! As a Golf 1.4 TSI owner and my son driving a Seat Leon 1.4 TSI, this video came at the perfect time. Can't wait to tackle this job and save some serious cash! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Great video! I’m gonna use this video to get me started on doing a head gasket job on a friend’s 1.4 TSI in his Jetta. Same as the other commenter, I’m in the states, so I have a little more room.
Hi, there is blank bolt on left side of the crankshaft pulley that is facing driveshaft, but it will only stop crankshaft turning clockwise so you can torque crankshaft bolt after installing new belt, regarding loosening bolt you can use power tools. Torque spec for crankshaft bolt is 150nm + 180*
Hi, thanks for this vidéo ! Please Can you show me where to put trolley jack on engine to support it and avoid engine damage please ? Thanks a lot for your answer !
Hi, usually I am not using only trolley jack by it self as it has pointy tips, so best way is put piece of wood between trolley jack and engine and answer to your question is - you position trolley jack as close as possible the sump edge but not over so it doesn't slip off, sump is pretty strong and it will not going to get damaged, as long you are not trying to lift whole car up.
Very good video the engine is identical to the one on my mk6 Jetta with very few differences, it seems like The Jetta has a little more space tan the Golf. My car is a left hand drive so the master cylinder is located next to the battery, Not a as difficult a job as it looks. Cheers from The United States of America
Disconnect the negative pole on the battery first. This avoids shocks from sweaty arms touching the chassis or your racket from welding itself to the chassis and setting fire to your car.
Hi, from factory they come with longlife belts that could potencially last up to 200k miles or 180 months (15 years) but I always recommend to change them max every 80k miles, yes 1.0tsi is same procedure(could be some slight difference)
I used old one, just wrapped around tape on broken section and it was good to go! But yeah if you order new from VW than you gonna get better quality than it came out from factory!

Endlich ein Video mit Drehmomenten weiter so👏💪👍👍👍
Great video! What is BTW the easiest way to inspect the timing belt? Removing the top cover or from the bottom?
Hi, thank you, I would say top cover removal!
One question, how do you stop the crank from turning when you need to loosen or tighten the crank pully bolt?
Hi, there is blank bolt on left side of the crankshaft pulley that is facing driveshaft, but it will only stop crankshaft turning clockwise so you can torque crankshaft bolt after installing new belt, regarding loosening bolt you can use power tools. Torque spec for crankshaft bolt is 150nm + 180*
Absolute legend
Thank you!

Thanks for comment, nice to know maybe someday will visit USA and try to work on right hand drive 🙈😅
How long did it take to do this job?
Hi, average between 3-4hours constantly working!
Disconnect the negative pole on the battery first. This avoids shocks from sweaty arms touching the chassis or your racket from welding itself to the chassis and setting fire to your car.
Thanks, will keep this in mind!
Thank you. What is timing belt change interval for this engine? Is it exactly same procedure for 3 cylinder 1.0 tsi engine?

Love coolant on the face 😂 why they make it sweet when it's deadly poisonous?
1,4 L 150 PS Motor ???
How much torque crank bolt
Hi, not all cars gonna be same, but for this paticular was 150Nm + 180*
GOOD JOB I LOVE YOU
This is simply brilliant!! Thank you for taking the time to make this informative video.
Is this the same engine fitted to the Audi A3 ?
Yes, it is, thank you!
Excelent!
Did you say there was a replacement hose for the purge valve?
I used old one, just wrapped around tape on broken section and it was good to go! But yeah if you order new from VW than you gonna get better quality than it came out from factory!
WARNING! The crankshaft marking is not correct; it is half a tooth out of position.
Not sure, hard to tell as I put exactly same position as before, and car is running fine ever since! Thanks for watching
@EverydayValuedMechanic I'm sure. 100%
Bad design to maintain.
