I have an aunt who has 14 grandchildren. She bought a beautiful dress for her first grandson’s wedding and said she will wear that same dress for every single wedding she goes to for her grandchildren, so far there have been 4 and she’s kept her word. I love that!
I’ve always loved high heels. I recently let them all go because at 55 the next day my back hurts. It was hard - I had to let go of younger me. I had to let go of the idea that high heels make me look younger and prettier. I bought 2 pair of kitten heels to replace all the give aways. I can’t explain how good it feels to embrace who I am now and let that stuff go. It feels like a brand new page that’s exciting.
I loved that you modeled being willing to let go of things that you purchased because you 1) liked it on someone else, or 2) you got it because you wanted to look more like another person, or 3) because it was maybe "in-style". That is so helpful for me, especially in a generation of trend upon trend upon trend. I want to be authentically me, not what social media and the world tells me I should look like. So thank you, Margaret!
I really enjoyed this video. I am 74 and STILL keep things because of the label. I have decluttered my closet so many times and still cling to items that I don’t wear!
I was smiling and nodding my head with you throughout this video! Thank you for your honesty!!! Some things you said, I didn't realize I was expecting my clothes to do for me!
When you were rumpling up that black t-shirt I was wondering what you were doing until you said “let those emotions go!” And I was like wow that’s awesome! I will use that from now on when I’m decluttering hard peices ❤
I am a 58 year old mom to 3 grown children ( I was a stay at home mom) . I can completely relate to feeling frumpy in sweatshirts. I find if I am put together (not fancy ) and feel good in my clothes then I have a much better day.
Yes! I knew I wasn't alone in that. They are comfy, I'll give them that, haha. But I just don't end up having great days either. Still feels great not seeing them in there!
Margaret why this video reminded me of when you did "the dress experiment" & how it made you feel. Seeing all those dresses & your authentic self made me even happier. Blessings! 💝🙏🏼
You don’t know how valuable and timely this video was to me. Too much emotional attachment to clothes and then having nothing to wear. Makes no sense. Who and how do I want to feel in my clothes is spot on. Thanks for the great video.
Margaret, I just love you and I’m so thankful we are sisters in Christ❤. You are so beautiful inside and out and every video is so helpful and solidifies my resolve to keep going, keep pushing, keep striving for a better life. I loved this video, because it truly shows in your face and your smile the peace that you hold inside you. It also gave me a sort of permission to put myself first, not as a selfish thing, but as a form of self care. And when we do this, we are free to serve Christ and others with our whole selves. Thank you for being you. Hugs and love and blessings, hon. ❤️🙏🏻
Those words are so kind. Thank you for saying that. I'm so glad you enjoyed this video and that it motivated you!! I'm reading "the gift of being yourself", might be something that speaks to you?! It was so helpful for clearing out my cluttered mindset(not fully knowing who I am). Sending you love today!! Thank you again for these encouraging words!
So many things you said in this video really hit home for me: Who do I want to be, can I wear this and be who I am in my life and do all the rhings I do? Repeating outfits works, its okay! For me, what ivtake away from this, I want to feel beautiful, confortable and classic in what I wear. Thank you for all your time and God bless!❤
Very timely for me! I listened to your kind and purposeful words as I pulled things out of my closet to give them to a new home where someone else will love and wear them as they should be. I spent a lot of time as many of us did during Covid watching “influencers” who were nothing like my personal style but that I thought I wanted to emulate - so I purchased clothing that looked great in them but did not feel natural on me. Now I will gift those out to people who will resonate with them!
I don't know why you are so critical of yourself, you are very beautiful ❤ but Yes..a closet declutter is very emotional, but also very uplifting. Clear out all that stuff you never wear, it just takes time to sift through when you're getting dressed and you'll never select it any way!! And then go buy yourself one nice new uplifting outfit. You have earned it.
Here's a revised version with improved grammar and structure: --- I am so blessed to have found your channel. You've been a tremendous help on my journey. I discovered you after praying to God to guide me to someone who could truly motivate my spirit with honesty and truth. I deeply appreciate the spiritual aspects of your videos and your courage in sharing your challenges. I praise God for your story, which closely mirrors mine. You've confirmed that God has me on this minimalist journey, and no matter how long it takes, what matters most is that I haven't given up. I take small steps every day to become the person I aspire to be and I’m grateful I’ve found your story. ---
Always so inspiring! Would love to see a "what I wear in a week" again - trying to up my game as far as not wearing workout/shorts/tees every day, all day - I know I would feel so much better if I didn't! I'm thinking dresses would be the ultimate - just really need to find what suites me best :) great video
Oh, yes I can do that!! That was such a fun one to film. I wish dresses were my ultimate but they are hard with a baby. That and I just don't have the funds to buy new ones that work with a baby. So we're going with what we've got! I'll do a capsule wardrobe soon!
I have recenlty rewathced a bunch of your closet decluttering videos because they're perfectly inspirational and calming! So excited for another video, and to see that its an ongoing process over years as we change to currate a closet. I am thankful for you and your content!
Thank you so much for this episode; so much wisdom that I really needed to hear. I am inspired with questions to ask myself when decluttering my clothes . Thank you!
I love that your sister already know what you’ll wear on christmas day, it’s a tradition now! 🎄this video really makes me realize I have to declutter a couple of items from my closet. Thank you 🙏
This video was the final push I needed. Soooo feel the Anthropology pull to things that aren't me anymore, and big names in general. I feel like I'm letting go of memories when I let go of clothes and it is hard!!!! Like I'm letting go of an amazing version of myself forever... cue the drama 😂 I am on the quest to make me right now the amazing me. Man, I wish we could go for a walk and commiserate. Keep it up!!! You're an inspiration!
So glad I found your channel. Will be switching over/decluttering my closet with the next month for fall. You have inspired me to be more honest with myself when I do.
Good video. I feel inspiration to get though my own today since i just moved and I am unpacking. Making decisions size wise is a bit hard because i am 27 weeks pregnant now and I wouldn't know how my body looks like next year. But i will start with keeping items I love and review again next year. ❤
Thank you, Margaret, this was so helpful, I need to declutter my clothes so bad!! I'm definitely a minimalist, except when it comes to my clothes, I have very much the same emotions you showed about my clothes, this was so helpful, and I'm ready to do a big wardrobe declutter now! Thank you! - Jenny
Your closet declutters are always so good and somehow unique. Love an updated one! I’m in my first ever post partum and nursing season of life so clothes are interesting to say the least. I’ve always had a small closet but over the last year I’ve switched to seasonal wardrobes (not as fancy as it sounds) and putting clothes away when not in use so it feels exciting to bring them back out after not wearing for a few months
I don’t like videos often but I did within the first minute of this one. Thank you for you ideas and thoughtfulness. The space you’ve created on you channel is really welcoming and relaxing.
Great video Margaret, Thank you! I see you're almost at 100K Subs so I thought I would help you get there. I need the motivation to declutter, looking for clothes to wear when you have too much is STRESSFUL! It's my 1st time here but I look forward to more. God bless you. 🙏💞🙏💞🙏
This was such a beautiful, peaceful, and helpful video. Thank you for your vulnerability. I signed up for the free webinar. I’ve been on a decluttering mission the last 2 weeks…wahoo! ♥️
Less than 1 min into the intro i pressed like and subscribed. Thank you, im 58 and have suffered some major trauma in the past 8 years, so much so I've forgotten who i am. I'll be working on who i am now for a while, but this helps me stress about 1 less thing.
Aw, Stephanie, I’m so glad you found this little corner of the internet. I’m sorry that’s been your story and am honored to be en encourager for you as you climb up and out. ♥️🙏🏼🥹
Great video and I appreciated your honesty about why we sometimes buy clothes. You are so beautiful, I encourage you to try adding more colour to your wardrobe, the neutral colours don’t show off your beauty enough !
Thanks, that's so kind of you to say. I'd say it's a lot of things. I truly desire to live a calm and peaceful life(after experiencing the ladder for decades). It's the decluttering I've done, but also the mindset work along with it. I'm just a calm person now, it's what I know and what I crave. Everything about me, my voice, my demeanor, my verbiage, it all naturally shifted when I created space and prioritized all things calm!
Of course, wear what feels right to you, but I loved seeing you in pretty dresses all the time! I got rid over more than half the clothes in my closet recently. Mostly thrifted clothes anyway. Feels so good to have space between the hangers. I think I'm down to a capsule of about 40 items. I'm hoping to lose more weight and I only want to wear things I feel great in.
Hi Margaret I just came across your channel and I’m so glad I did. I too noticed in my wardrobe that there were some colours that made me look pale, so I never reached for them. Then I came across the colour season theory . And I found out that I look best in the summer palette. And I think you would look great in those colours as well. Greetings from Sweden
I would really love advice on finding your style especially postpartum. I’m four months postpartum after my 3rd and I’m having such a hard time finding pieces that fit my body well - without making me still look pregnant - and that are nursing and momming friendly. I find myself gravitating towards styles that I remember my mom wearing in the 90s when I was a kid. The button up sleeveless cotton shirt, high waisted jean shorts that were not super short. My mom didn’t wear dresses much, but I also love the flowy style, but I feel like I look like a tent because I’m an athletic build and not petite. I’m just really discouraged and also working on a budget and it just really hard.
I have the opposite problem, I love the flowy and compfy, but i want to be put together. I am short but have a large chest and when i fit my chest, the rest of the garment (shorts and dresses) are a disaster. I buy things seeing them on other people and hope they fit me that way. Part of it is seeing how it looks on them and that is how i want it fit me, but they never do. My daughters bought me a sewing machine for my birthday and i am going to start making my own clothes. My mom and grandma did it - so i know i can. Now that i am of an age (53😂) I don’t care what other people think, but i want to FEEL good in my clothes!
I just watched your video while I was decluttering my self I am a big fan of minimizing your clothes it makes me rethink everytime I want to buy a new item bc it just shows me how much money I wasted on fast fashion and spontaneous shopping....
Love this video Margaret! I'm so inspired now, thank you for sharing! I am a bit of a colour analyst and I'm going out on a limb here and thinking you are a 'soft autumn' in terms of colour season. Could be worth diving into that more going forward to double check that, as I haven't done a proper analysis on you haha but I know it's saved me a bunch of energy and money with my clothing. It also makes sense why things look so good on others and not on me sometimes and visa versa haha! Anyway, that's my little two cents worth! You are SO beautiful and you are doing SO well! God bless you and your whole family abundantly!
This was a great video. Thanks for sharing your thought process. It is so helpful to hear other’s thoughts. Also thanks for replacing that one black hanger with a white one. It was going to bother me if you organized it all and then had one odd hanger.🙂
I think I’m an ocd person 😂😂 just looking at your crumbled t shirts make me anxious. That is my problem I guess. I like good closet organizing on the beginning of each season. Good video Margaret😊 oh one little suggestion: I recommend keeping just seasonal clothing. For example I store my winter sweaters and hoodies during summer so I can clearly see what is in my closet
Just went through my closet last week and got rid of so many pieces that weren’t serving me well! I’m also realizing I love yellow! Where is your yellow dress from?
I struggle with being wasteful. A lot of my clothes that need to go are ratty and stained but not garbage yet. I cannot donate most of it and it makes me hang on to them knowing it’s either I wear it or it’s in the trash and I don’t feel they are trash just yet 😅. I wear them around the house. I’ve gotten rid of so many clothes already and I’m amazed of how continually I need to do this even though I barely shop. I don’t have the money to buy a lot of clothes and I want to avoid cheap places like SHEIN which I would have to do if I get rid of too many clothes because I can afford $68 for an organic tshirt. Oh the balance of it all
I take it one step further. I assemble outfits for events-funeral, wedding, church, etc. Then, take a photo of the outfit. This helps me quickly and easily decide what to wear. Also less stress because I know I have what I need. Tiffany Phlanx's Marketing Specialist
I wish I could figure out why I purchase an item that I just don’t wear!! It would eliminate so much money wasting. 😂 Why did it feel right at one moment but never again??😢 I even ask myself “do you love this?” Before I buy it! Ugh
Yeah, that's so hard! What's been successful for me is planning the pieces that I want to add to my wardrobe. It makes the process much more intentional and the "pause" is everything for me! But that's just me. Don't give up!!
You should let the pink dress go. It doesn’t do you justice and looks outdated. Great job on decluttering your closet. I suggest as an older woman that you should hold onto something like old cozy pjs and make it a priority to buy new ones. Then let go of the old ones
Hi Margaret! Again, LOVED this video and your vibe... I will be continuing your course soon, since I am moving on August 15 (for the first time). :) But for now, I have a question... Sometimes I do love a piece of clothing from my closet, but if I look at how 'my best self' would be dressed (still comfortable - but a version of me I hope to become - NOT some imaginary version that's like too ambitious or not even comfortable anymore just to please others), they wouldn't be wearing this item. What would you do with that item? I have several clothes that yes, I'll wear them, but if I wear them I'm not feeling like I am the best version of myself, you know? Hope this makes sense... Thank you again for your lovely channel and course! You're such a BIG inspiration for me
Thanks so much!! Definitely makes sense. I would just ask yourself some questions: who is this future you? Can you dress like that every day? Who is the present you? What's the difference between the two? Are you content with who you are today? What needs to change to show up as the version you hope to be? I don't have a practical answer, just keep digging and asking questions!
I saw a meme recently that Harry Potter actor Daniel repeated the exact EXACT same outfit for 8 years so that paparazzi cant use his photos, Genius 😂😂😂
Madisun Gray says something like you buy your clothing husband like you like one piece and then you buy it over and over. That was my issue 😆 I would have exact duplicates “just in case”
You can donate clothing to friends you know can wear or might be their style. Easier to do that than donate to goodwill or other thrift stores, first. Those places only sell to profit.
I need to do this so bad! My closet is bigger than my bedroom and that makes me feel like i need to keep it full 😣 Im a stay at home homeschooling mom who wears the same 5 things everyday 🤣 Thanks for this motivation ❤️
Nature hates a vacuum, if you get rid of the stuff that is ok, but not perfect, that makes a hole for the universe to fill for you. It could come in the form of an offer to go shopping for your birthday, or a Christmas gift card but one way or another, if you make a hole, it will get filled. :) Just a thought, It could only work for me because I'm just that awesome! LOLZ
another thought popped into my head. Personally I find pants to be the hardest thing to buy (right length , tightness, inseam etc) so I have finally found what I like and just keep a few pairs of jeans and shorts and then add the interest and color with my tops. It feels good and I feel good.
I have an aunt who has 14 grandchildren. She bought a beautiful dress for her first grandson’s wedding and said she will wear that same dress for every single wedding she goes to for her grandchildren, so far there have been 4 and she’s kept her word. I love that!
I LOVE THAT! Her value is not found in what she's wearing and she knows it. That's wisdom right there!
❤❤❤
I’ve always loved high heels. I recently let them all go because at 55 the next day my back hurts. It was hard - I had to let go of younger me. I had to let go of the idea that high heels make me look younger and prettier. I bought 2 pair of kitten heels to replace all the give aways. I can’t explain how good it feels to embrace who I am now and let that stuff go. It feels like a brand new page that’s exciting.
Yes, ah I love hearing this! So happy for you!
I've also gotten to the age, I say, life's too short for uncomfortable shoes or clothes.
“Which person do I want to be today…” wow. 🤯 that strikes the heart. ♥️
♥️♥️♥️
So much story with clothing. I like this as well.
Great reminder that “Decluttering”is not a destination we arrive at. It’s a mindset and a purpose. ❤
❤❤❤
I have always thought you are SO beautiful, but there is something about you in this video. You are stunning and glowing! Love your content 😊
I thought the same !
I agree! Her vibe is so inspiring🌻
Katelyn, these words are so incredibly kind. Thank you so much. I really enjoyed creating this one!
I thought the same. So nice to see good comments these days!
I agree!! She's so vibrant looking here!
I think it’s so great that you know who you’re now versus who you used to be and understand that we all evolve
I really enjoyed this video. I am 74 and STILL keep things because of the label. I have decluttered my closet so many times and still cling to items that I don’t wear!
So I"m not the only one that loves to sort my clothes by color!!
I was smiling and nodding my head with you throughout this video! Thank you for your honesty!!! Some things you said, I didn't realize I was expecting my clothes to do for me!
Thank you! Love how real you are about what is in your closet. It really comes down to how we feel in clothes. This video has been so very helpful.❤
Subscribed not only because you videos are sooo helpful but because I absolutely love your personality
‘Do I feel beautiful in tis’ is such a good question to ask myself!!! Less stuff in my wardrobe brings me peace too….
When you were rumpling up that black t-shirt I was wondering what you were doing until you said “let those emotions go!” And I was like wow that’s awesome! I will use that from now on when I’m decluttering hard peices ❤
Totally feel u wanting to leave the frumpy easy thing behind to see the real put together you ..exactly the video I needed 😊
I finally finished my closet - I did it in chunks over several months. It feels so much better. I probably got rid of 50% or more.
What?! So amazing!! I bet that feels so light and freeing. Well done!
I am a 58 year old mom to 3 grown children ( I was a stay at home mom) . I can completely relate to feeling frumpy in sweatshirts. I find if I am put together (not fancy ) and feel good in my clothes then I have a much better day.

Repeat repeat repeat. That's what I'll be doing every Sunday as well. ❤❤❤
YES! Love this!

This is the first declutter and I’ve watched many …. , that I can relate to 😊
Thank you so much for this episode; so much wisdom that I really needed to hear. I am inspired with questions to ask myself when decluttering my clothes . Thank you!
This video is so helpful! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and love for YOU and being fully YOU. This was a pleasure to watch.
That gingham one who twirled round in near the end is so lovely ❤
Yes, I've always loved that one. May I ask what brand it is??

Love this so much, thank you
Love all the items you are keeping. Thank you for an inspiring video.
I enjoyed this video a lot. I sent it to a few of my clients struggling with amount of clothing they have.

Great and helpful video! I hope you change your mind about hating cats lol because they are so cute and loving 😻 Have a blessed day, you're amazing!

Hey Jenny, so glad this inspired you!! That's so encouraging to me, as that's the reason I'm here. Have a lovely day!
Loved everything about this video: your clothes, energy, words ... will definitely rewatch when I need something inspiring, calming and relaxing!!

I'm excited for this video!!! I just went through my wardrobe and decluttered all item that contain hazardous fabrics...
Oh yes, love that!!
Great video and I appreciated your honesty about why we sometimes buy clothes. You are so beautiful, I encourage you to try adding more colour to your wardrobe, the neutral colours don’t show off your beauty enough !
Oh kind of you today, yes I’m really loving more color these days. Just have to go slow over here 😂
I appreciate your calm demeanor. How did you get to this place? (Outside of decluttering)

Love your approach and philosophy. So many great points. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for taking the time to say that! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
I needed this. Going to declutter my closet with these thoughts in mind.
Yes, happy decluttering! You know best ♥️

Great video!❤❤ thanks for being my motivation.. I really need to declutter my old clothes too😂I’m still trying to get started
Girl, you look like a model in that pink dress! Keep that one ❤️❤️❤️
The ripping t shirt part.. resonates. Do that when feels like i hv to letgo but still wearable, but its frayed blah blah.... ripped it n settled.😂
Hi Margaret
I just came across your channel and I’m so glad I did.
Thank you!! This really helped me declutter my wardrobe!
Yay, so happy to hear that! So welcome
And now I want to go declutter all the spaces!
Yes!! That was my goal!!
This summer my closet is like 7 dresses, a few biker shorts and t-shirts and I've never felt this good in my skin before!
Amazing! Celebrating with you!
I hope you have a cook and a housekeeper. Home schooling and working from home! Take care of yourself. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much! Soft autumn, just sounds cozy and pretty. I will look into this!! I appreciate your wisdom!
This was a great video. Thanks for sharing your thought process. It is so helpful to hear other’s thoughts. Also thanks for replacing that one black hanger with a white one. It was going to bother me if you organized it all and then had one odd hanger.🙂
Hahahahaha I feel you on that! It was bothering me too😂
I think I’m an ocd person 😂😂 just looking at your crumbled t shirts make me anxious.
Your white dress that you put a brown sweater over reminds me of Liesl's in The Sound of Music. Not identical, but a similarity.
Your last two videos have been so inspiring I jumped up in the middle and started cleaning and decluttering my own house and closet!
Aw, thanks for saying that! I'm so glad they helped you out. That makes me so happy!
Inspired ❤
Thank you 🥺
I struggle with being wasteful.

I wish I could figure out why I purchase an item that I just don’t wear!! It would eliminate so much money wasting. 😂
Why did it feel right at one moment but never again??😢
I even ask myself “do you love this?” Before I buy it! Ugh
Yeah, that's so hard! What's been successful for me is planning the pieces that I want to add to my wardrobe. It makes the process much more intentional and the "pause" is everything for me! But that's just me. Don't give up!!
Thanks for the encouragement to declutter my clothes. Can I ask where did you buy the dress you are wearing please😊❤
Neuflora!! I have a link to their store below. I think it’s still in stock!
Oh my goodness where is your Gingham spaghetti strap dress from?! I have been looking for one exactly like it!!!
You should let the pink dress go. It doesn’t do you justice and looks outdated. Great job on decluttering your closet. I suggest as an older woman that you should hold onto something like old cozy pjs and make it a priority to buy new ones. Then let go of the old ones
My mom and dad bought it for me, so I wear it to their birthdays and celebrations! It's definitely dated and funky, but I enjoy wearing it
Hi Margaret!
You look lovely in yellow 💛
I'm 54. I've always been a clothing repeater and have never felt embarrassed or less than.
I’m so into repeating outfits especially dress clothes. I don’t need to buy extras.
Hi! Can u share where to purchase your square storage bins that you use in your closet for small items? TY! 😊
They were a target find!
Swap rooms 😊
@@rosered3919 not a bad idea. lol But I have to go through my room to get to the closet
@@carris2scents57 go thru your closet to get to your room 😉
@@rosered3919 I have really thought about setting a bed up in there just for me for when my husband snores 😆
@@carris2scents57 you will never regret this. I sleep in my own bed, my man snores like wild beast. I need my sleep !
Okay, yes, that's so smart. Where did you find your good ones? I just don't know where to start when it comes to jeans!
Is only one hoodie going to be enough to keep you warm all winter?
I have some sweaters that I love! I’ll go with that and turtle necks ♥️♥️
I love the piece you are wearing where is it from? 🥰
Thanks!! It's from Neuflora! I linked them in my description!
