Hi all! Please continue to give us your feedback on what was missed, best croissant in the video, anything you'd like us to cover. Positive or negative, we appreciate the feedback. It helps us get better. When we set out to make this video, we don't really want to be in the business of reviewing croissants. Which is why we didn't stick with one benchmark croissant. We're not really food critics. We're getting better at reviewing what we eat (Darcie especially!), but we're really primarily interested in promoting cool and interesting places across the city. It's not to say we won't review food items, but for this video, we wanted to just show off our favourite places. But hey, we should've explained that better at the beginning of the video. We'll be more clear going forward with our videos. Also, apologies to our French audience. Our hubris led us to be comfortable with the mispronunciation of Nadège Patisserie, and that's not respectful of that business or language. They're a great patisserie. We used to frequent the summerhill location, years and years ago, and we've been fans ever since. So sincere apologies regarding this. We'll do better going forward.
You know what its not a big deal to mispronounce a place if thats not your original language. So no big deal. You should not have to apologize. Its not a dealbreaker. Really they should have a name more aligned to Canada 🇨🇦 culture. So they should have to have a easy name to pronounce. Don’t beat yourself up🤷♀️
Not keeping the same benchmark throughout the board doesn't qualify as a comparison video. You guys should have just eaten plain croissants. Great video though
I agree with this. When I was in Italy in February, to compare gelato places I'd always get Nocciola and Pistachio. There should have been at least one control, likely a plain croissant since that's most common.
I ❤ a tasty, flakey, quality croissant! 🥰 I'm surprised you guys didn't go to Pâtisserie La Cigogne. This is a classic French bakery café, run by a French Master Pâtisserie Chef. It's been around for more than a couple decades now. One on Bayview in Leaside, and one on the Danforth on the east side of the city. The croissants are ridiculously good!
Definitely should have tried the butter croissant at Emmer it’s incredible also… as someone mentioned a great constant for a comparison of croissant! Still super fun… thanks!
I love a fresh croissant. The Broadflour croissant reminds me of my years in Montreal when we would go out for fresh from the oven, light and flaky croissant.
"Laminations" is correct. I used to work in Liberty Village...Starbucks next door to the LCBO. Au Pain Dore does a mean chocolate almond croissant (and spectacular muffins). Le Gourmand makes a killer rum almond...which sells out very early.
Oh thank you so much! I felt like it was laminations, but I'll be the first to admit I make mistakes so i appreciate you confirming that. Those croissants sounds amazing! Rum almond ❤ Yes Please.
That was very cute, and interesting how many different kinds of croissants are made here in Toronto, as opposed to France. That boxed croissant is definitely different and hard to eat. Well it looks like you covered all the different options in Toronto. Loved this episode, where Darcy is asking not to consider her description of unique names given to these places. Very difficult to pronounce , but you did good Darcy!!
There is a few more smaller cafes like Le Beau and Le Genie that have some pretty good croissants if you guys are reviewing. One is nearby Boardview Stn and other is by Ikea on College St.
Check out Le Genie. Its on the side of the Aura Condos at Yonge and Gerrard. 382 Yonge St First Floor. The owner Sebastian is a French trained Baker. My go to from Tuesdays since their closed on Mondays.
Very cool list, some great spots. Everything I've tried at Barbershop has hit for me, Little Pebbles, sorry but for me, not so much. If you're ever in the Markham area let me know, I'd love to show you a spot called Cho-Kwok-Lat both for their croissants as well as their other baked goods.
Ive tried Nadege and Little Pebbles.. There is a new French bakery called L'amour Cafe & Pastry on MT pleasant which is way better than de mello. The almond croissant is definitely worth a try!
I appreciate your enthusiasm, but your video would be more helpful if you stuck to comparing just the butter croissants and then, in addition, reporting on what your personal favourite item might be. Also, Barbershop is most famous for their simple chocolate cake.
Croissants. Butter. Flaky Ok, they're supposed to b.... Jabba the Hut like. Ok, that's a new description. My favorite will always be the almond croissant with the marzapan filling. No places in particular on my list.

Hey Clark,
Thats such a kind offer! We'd love to meet up sometime❤
Markham is such a beautiful city. Loving your channel as always friend!
Good video! But what about bakeries east of Spadina? Le Beau and Patisserie La Cigogne are amazing
IKR? Why doesn't the east side of our city ever get visited on these food shows? They have incredible food too!
Ive tried Nadege and Little Pebbles.. There is a new French bakery called L'amour Cafe & Pastry on MT pleasant which is way better than de mello. The almond croissant is definitely worth a try!
Surprised Rahier wasnt on this list!
You should try Le Beau in Regent Park.
We will add that to our list!
Thank you for the recommendation ❤
I second this. Easily my favourite Toronto croissant and pain au chocolat.
Hey what’s happened to you two. We miss your videos ❤
@HopeLaFleur you are so kind, we will be back! ❤
On what camera was the video shot?
Our videos are filmed on Sony A7 cameras. Thanks for watching!
Hey wheres my invite 😂. Great video thanks for sharing!
Chef, send us an email. We'd love to connect, maybe we can showcase some of your favourite spots or some of your work. ❤
@@TorontoOurCityDarcie sent earlier today!
CHERRY BOMB!! You guys NEED to try those!!! So good!
the remarkable bean on queen st east makes good croissants and banana bread
Please do best gelato spots in TO 🥰
Oh thats a great idea ❤
This is more a video of a cute couple videotaping themselves eating croissants around town.
Not so much a comparison video.
Respectfully
Croissants from Fleur du Jour on St Clair West are the only ones that matter.
La Genie. Tasso.
Best croissants in Toronto (quality and price point): Phipps Bakery, La Cigogne, Dough Bakery, and Absolute Bakery.
Appreciate the list! We'll tackle these on our follow up 😊
I appreciate your enthusiasm, but your video would be more helpful if you stuck to comparing just the butter croissants and then, in addition, reporting on what your personal favourite item might be. Also, Barbershop is most famous for their simple chocolate cake.
Why does a decent croissant cost $5 here but an absolutely magical buttery croissant can be had for 1€ ($1.50) in Paris?
Croissants. Butter. Flaky
Ok, they're supposed to b....
Jabba the Hut like.
Ok, that's a new description.
My favorite will always be the almond croissant with the marzapan filling. No places in particular on my list.
no Nord Lyon???
Should have been all butter croissants....it tells you everything
Cherry Bomb Cafe has the best butter croissant in Toronto
Used to be JJ beans.
“Quiss-sahnt”
“Nah-deg” no “e” at the end. “Kwa-son”
Imo y’all should have eaten plain croissants to compare.
Plain croissants was the way to go. This comparison doesn’t make any sense.
You weren’t comparing the same things so it’s not really a useful video in that regards.
All Nadage pastries except the almond croissant are subpar. I dont understand the hype
You messed up. Your titles says 7. But it was 6. Then the 1st location you get the name wrong. I was going to watch your video. But skipped.
the fact that le beau is not on the list made this video a joke.
Le Beau, thanks for the suggestion, we will have to check them out ❤
