A Flygon has invaded my home. The enormous dragonfly was ransacking my cupboards for leftovers when it heard me enter. I tried to run but its Earthquake threw off my footing, and-when I tried to offer chips in the form of spikes-Flygon just hovered past them. I cried out “this is insane” as a Rock Slide destroyed the entire building.
Feels good knowing some more seasoned players also liked pairing offensive Flygon with mons like Celebi, Gyarados or Sub+Toxic Magneton. Not saying I invented the wheel or anything close to that but it's nice to see my teambuilding choices vindicated. I do tend to prefer CB for the surprise factor that its sheer power represents, even if one could argue it ends up functioning as a less effective Dugtrio more often than not. If the team can keep a fast enough pace and offensive pressure, the unexpected KOs CB will net you will be worth the commitment, at least in my humble experience. It's also counterintuitively a better check to some offensive mons in 1v1 situations, which are more prone to happen at higher paces of play, and where Flygon comes in clean by virtue of being both Spikes and Sandstorm immune (which also helps conceal the lack of Leftovers at first glance). I have tried Fire Blast before, but you have now inspired me to build with Sub Flygon in mind, and on slightly less offensively-inclined teams. Nice vid!
Hey, usually a lurking viewer here, but just wanna say I root for you in ADV tournaments. Pleasant surprise seeing this in my recommended vids. Would love to see more of this kind of content if you enjoy making it, or maybe post game analyses. A look into your team building process could be fun too. I only ever casually ladder on Showdown, but it's still fun learning what goes on in the minds of top players.
great content kollin. i couldnt help but notice that you addressed this to "If youre a friend of mine..." which i DEFINITELY am haha 😆 keep up the great work buddy love you
I seriously don't get it. Every time a flygon came out in the ADV revival tournament, it floundered around like a wet noodle and did very little. Lots of people talk good about it and I don't get it.
It's hard to build with outside of just being the Tyranitar check on Superman. And as far as I know, there's been no consensus on precisely how to optimize it outside of that---which means usages are more likely to miss than hit. "Flygon is bad" is a claim its lovers are trying to refute, for a reason.
Realized I didn't mention choice band at all. Yeah, it *can* be good, but it's pretty hard to use and even harder to fit than Flygon normally is. Also realized listening to this that I'm a huge fan of the word "awesome"
I see it this way: it's a little bit harder and more committal to use than non-Choice Band Offensive Flygon, but with a bigger upside. Like 2-shotting Milotic in sand.
My boy: Flygon @ Soft Sand Ability: Levitate EVs: 252 Atk / 16 SpA / 240 Spe Naughty Nature - Earthquake - Hidden Power [Bug] - Rock Slide - Fire Blast So much fun to use on offense superman. Breaks skarm, bliss, and Cele. progress maker and cleaner. I love this guy :)
Great info. Only critique I have is you should speak into the mic as if you are taking to someone in person. Your voice sounds so low like you are casually talking under your breath.
You neglected to mention Choice Band, which in my experiences has been the only Flygon I've felt threatening in the past 12 months. As you yourself admitted, Offensive Flygon practically requires too much support, to where you'd really need to be a Flygon fan to consider it worthwhile. And your notion of it being a "half" is also pertinent, as I do not feel it does anything consistently and reliably to where it can be considered a go-to in any building circumstance. I feel like Flygon is a mediocre mon that only has about 2 usable moves, and really really wishes it had some kind of a 3rd, like Dragon Dance, or even Sing---some kind of status move to use to make it more threatening in situations when QuakeSlide is just not. I would have liked to see some kind of more elaborated theory about what an ideal Offensive Flygon team / archetype would look like; something more concrete and also rationally exciting, because I didn't find this terribly convincing. I still think it's near the bottom of viability, hanging around with Jolteon and Cloyster.

This video just showed up at the top of my home page ~15 minutes ago.
im gon off the zaza
this Kollin guy sure knows what hes talling about here.
The GOAT Kollin talking about the GOAT Offgon
great content kollin. i couldnt help but notice that you addressed this to "If youre a friend of mine..." which i DEFINITELY am haha 😆 keep up the great work buddy love you
I have historically considered offgon to be fraudulent; i understood however after some well placed substitutes that it was i, the fool
It's not so much fraudulent as it is requiring serendipity. It's relatively weak and this can be exploited by some opposing mons that aren't uncommon.
flygon been busting people up lately. dont know why youre giving away the secrets tho.
goated 🔥

I'll give it a try. I enjoyed sub 3 attacks Max atk flygon in the past. Rip celebi sometimes lol
100% agree

If I were to guess, you think that the word "awesome" is well...awesome
My boy:
Flygon @ Soft Sand
Ability: Levitate

So much fun to use on offense superman.
Breaks skarm, bliss, and Cele.
progress maker and cleaner.
I love this guy :)
Probably do have to max out its offense like this to be worth it.
Me with my 1050 Gen 3 ELO watching this video knowing damn well I'm never playing this developed-ass meta:
It's much less developed even than you'd think.
gon with the wind
That'd be CB Gust.
they're sleeping on the Gon
Shoutouts to Kollin7, he's one to watch for sure...
Could you put links to the teams in the description? Would like to try these out.
i am not a friend of yours though please hold back with your bold statements in the future
I like banded flygon. Those eq's can be game ending

His mic setup isn't the best to begin with. You can hear his voice echo in the room or whatever.
the rain sounds in the background are very nice.
Cool video.
