I get kosher MREs on some of my field exercises, sometimes garbage sometimes okay. Passover MREs are fantastic. The corn nuggets taste like motor oil. The ranch chickpeas are the best snack.
You should do a review of an IDF MRE “מנות קרב” considering it is kosher. Also they’re not so fancy as American or European style MREs with all the crazy packaging.
@@TheTacticalRabbiIsrael doesn’t really have the large scale manufacturing that America has so the IDF just incorporates the civilian economy into their needs. So like a basic Israeli mre is just canned tuna, canned pickles/corn, canned halva, canned pineapple and a loaf of bread. It’s usually meant to be split between a handful of soldiers. It’s a unique experience more like camping.
TG the IDF no longer issues Loof a can of a chicken type spam that looks and tastes like kennel ration dog food.. there was never enough spices in the company package to make it taste good
Flying to Australia is hard however from Australia the quality is excellent and the Shechita is what I like. I wish MREs like the Australian airline meals would be available for trips or in case of emergencies.
They didn’t have any kosher mre’s when i was in the army, I had to settle for vegetarian when we were out in the field. I know it may be boring, you could always find pareve food if kosher isn’t able to be had. Kosher meat is hard to get in my city and it’s not a major city but it’s not a small town either. The grocery store closest used to carry kosher beef but I guess it didn’t sell well. Anyway, the mre meal looks to be heavy on pareve ingredients and wouldn’t be kosher for pesach it appears but in a pinch it looks like it would work. Is this the only brand that makes kosher mre’s ?
@@TheTacticalRabbi the only ones I know of is the mre manufacturer that makes them for the military, but I don’t know the name of the company but with google I’m sure the answer could be found and ask them if they still make kosher mre’s because they make some pretty tasty mre’s.
This has me wondering what you do when kosher food is not available in an extreme emergency. Pikuach nefesh is fascinating. Have you ever been in that type of situation?
I've personally not been in that level of extreme situation. I usually plan ahead as much as possible. In a situation where you're truly in danger then I'm sure it would be permissable to eat other things. The laws are quite complicated so it's definitely not a blanket rule.
This is a very important and useful video. What about non meat, fish? Do they have that? I couldn't find on their website. I wonder if they would make a special run with Chabad Shechita?
What's the Kashrut on these MREs? You didn't cover the most important part of this MER which is Kosher. Especially the beef soup... I saw OU on the corn chips, but not on any other packets. Are tortillas Pas Yisroel? What's the Shechita?
These videos are so underrated. May your channel fair better with the algorithm!
Amen!

I'd love to get my hands on one!

It would be so cool if we can get one to try out!
I hate MREs, but when you’re hungry anything is edible
Some people heat up the tortillas in the heater with the meal..
What is the kosher certification, so I can ask my rabbi if it ok.
If it's really good, it's a dream come true.
KM- Kosher Miami
MREs are meant to be eaten cold😂 semper fi, save the heater for when its cold and you can put it in your shirt or pocket to keep warm
That's what I did in Germany when I got stuck doing checkpoint or ammo detail.
Not even a dehydrated strawberry or banana chips . No prunes or dried apricots, sugar dates SMH!
I need those, working hashgacha in bumf*** California
I eat the none kosher MRE my father was in the army like pork products and Spam

Labruite out of Lakewood, NJ makes the current kosher mres. @@chrismasters4951
Maybe the Humanitarian Daily Ration might work in a pinch.
The US military has a kosher for Passover MRE if you can find that box you should get one for the videos..

Excellent video, Rabbi - thanks especially for the background information at the beginning as I'm not familiar with keeping Kosher.
Possibly tearing up chunks and dropping the tortillas in making a tortilla soup?
Oh that's a good move
@@TheTacticalRabbi my buddy who served in Afghanistan told me the key with any MRE is just improvising.

I think I'm going to buy a few of these to keep in the car in case I'm stuck somewhere. Very easy and filling kosher food.

The MRE is covered under the Hasgacha of KM - Kosher Miami
If only they had Kosher MRE's in Tarkov..............
If the instructions don't say to lean it "against a rock or something" is it truly an mre?
The Kosher MREs made by My Own Meals are really good.
