    I think that the open is not as popular with the average joe crossfitter. Those who are signing up now are more likely to be leaning to the competiitve side, therefore you have to make the top 10 percent of a more competitive field etc.

    I wholeheartedly agree with you guys: mentality will make all the difference when competition rolls around. In the arena, we all share similar fitness levels, but who did the mental homework to be able to express that fitness under pressure?
    however, if an athlete was trying to eat better or improve their gymnastics, would you tell them to read books on the topic or seek professional help? Max is 100% right: the entire context surrounding an individual is key to finding the exact tools the athlete needs to improve their mental toughness. reading about somebody else's experience can only get you so far. Finding a sport psychologist who is able to provide structure can be a big gamechanger. and you don't have to be elite to go the extra mile in that department either!! thank you for coming to my unsolicited Ted talk lmao
