It kinda surprised me being as stubborn as it was at first. I probably could have been a little closer, and the prop wash would have been a little more help.
It doesn't mater who they're a member with, that usually just means they get the first call; Which they did.. I just heard it from a third party that there was a capsized vessel, and while I was with the vessel, and possibly preventing it from drifting on the beach, which entitles me to some reward, he was with the owner, and could have had a salvage contract already signed.. I used to work with the owner while he was a Towboat captain, so in a circumstance like that it was just easier to split the salvage reward (which is just a per foot fee, and maybe some tow time to an extended destination).
I have heard of smaller vessels literally on the bottom and not so shallow. Owner was a good diver, removed bungs and a large police boat just slowly towed it up and it drained via bungs and was all good.
Everything is repairable.. As long as it didn't bend a rod (because it went down running), you should be able to pickle it, and fire it right back up..
The cost/time of repairs and potential future issues is not an option for the insurance company and owners time of course. They will cut him a check for the agreed upon value and move on... Now there may be some guy in Miami FL who buys the boat at an auction and spend 1 year redoing it to then sell it on Facebook as a clean Florida title. Then the next unexperienced new owner wonders why he has had so many issues regrets buying s used boat in Miami and gets out of boating forever. Dont buy someone else's problems. @@CaptainRetriever
@@DanielCarrazana In my experience they try to get out of totaling boats unless they think it's more beneficial to them. It's all case by case, personally I kept my boat, and just rewired everything, ran for another 5 years without issue till we re-powered..
@@CaptainRetriever Thanks , it's been a awhile since I lived in Stuart and I kept my boat in dry storage at Sailfish - where I met Woody casually . Nice guy . Best of luck to you , I'm following your channel .
Wow, that boat did not want to upright, nice job Capt.

One of the coolest things I have seen. I was in the Coast Guard for 5 years, and never saw a retreive like that!
Great job, liked how you went into a turn to bring the bow up
So the owner was a SeaTow member, I think I heard in the video. How does TowBoatUS get paid? Salvage rights? Negotiated fee?

Amazing work. Way to be determined.

Incredible job
Great parbuckle job!
Very impressive!
Nice work
Nice nob! Glad everybody was safe.
Awesome job impressive!
Good job Cap.
Do you remove the drain plugs before righting the boat, and then allow the water to drain while pulling it fast?
Typically no, we see if the boats bilge works, and if not throw a pump in it.
Great wok as always.
Good job!!
Is that engine totaled now?
Yes. Thats Saltwater.

thank for sharing
I don't own a boat. But was curious, do they have insurance like AAA to cover tows and recoveries like this?
This goes under your hull insurance, boat is likely totaled, so in addition to boat damage it also covers the recovery services required..
Good job...looks like you have done this a few times....does anyone notice how yellow the water appears to be?
It just has a greenish hue because the silt in from wave action, and some of the outgoing tide water from the inlet
Did Woody retire ?
Yes, business has changed hands twice now, Scott, one of the captains currently owns it

made it look so easy!
Nice job. How long did it actually take to right the boat?
I can usually do it in 5 minutes, maybe a little longer to run some of the water out & put pumps on board.. 15-30 total..
Didn’t see that coming
welldone
Bad ass!
Neat...can I have it?😅😅😅
If it gets totaled, maybe if it goes to auction..
WAY COOL....
