Nice option, but surely agree about the screw head issues.

You might want to mention to your viewers that there are three versions of the Deckmaster system, the red, green, and blue box versions and you need to buy the right kind for your application. One is for redwood 3/4" deck boards; one for 2x redwood deck boards and one for composite decking. I think the difference is in the length and thread of the screws. I have used these products extensively and really like them since there is no face screwing of deck boards, although over time, some of the screws into the deck boards from the underside tend to pull out if the deck boards are not perfectly flat (such as from joists that are slightly different widths). You also need a second person standing on the board from above so that the screws go into the board instead of pushing the board up. Thanks for another great video.

A great option, and I can’t stand propriety screws

Bought a box of these so long ago I can't remember when - so if nothing else they have been around for some time - hopefully that's a good thing. Definitely would only use in a special situation as you did.

I get it on the proprietary screw driver, but even though it sucks why not just get your own screws instead of theirs

If I had them with me, I would have

What is the downside of just not screwing down to the last joist at all? Nobody is standing there anyway, and nobody sees that the end of the boards is not tight.
For me, it only makes sense if the board is parallel to the house, so it would be completely loose.

They were slightly loose and with my luck, would rattle after we left lol

"Nobody is standing there anyway" isn't a good standard when building a structure that is basically meant for standing on. Plus the boards would curl up and get wavy.

At that price and with crappy screws I think I would do pocket screws in the joist instead of wasting my money on this.

Just throw their crap screws away and use your own.
