The American Raptors started their six-match homestand on the right foot with a 29-21 victory over Cobras Brasil in their 2024 home opener. Cobras Brasil drew first blood with a rolling maul try in just the sixth minute of the match, but the Raptors responded with a deep penalty goal from Ignacio Mieres a few minutes later. Cobras used another first-half try to take a 14-3 lead before the Raptors began finding the try line themselves. Captain Diego Fortuny dotted down a rolling maul try of his own to cut Cobras lead to just four heading into the half. The Raptors hit the ground running in the second half with a Mo Vainikolo try to take their first lead of the match. Cobras snatched the lead back with their third and final try of the match, but the Raptors responded with a pair of tries by Jacob Hidalgo and Feofaaki Pulu to put the match on ice and secure their first victory of the 2024 Super Rugby Americas season.

We gotta train US cameramen that there's a happy medium between zoom all the way in and all the way out. We can't see anything beyond the ball... You have to show it like soccer!

Damn good game of running rugby most entertaining to watch.

Its hard to get any situational awareness in the game because you cant see the defense or attack line through the phases.
Also, most tries came from the final phase being within 5 meters of the try line suggesting that European grind type of rugby played in the forwards. I thought American rugby would be line speed & open play attack given Americans are built for speed and power (NFL,track etc)
