I used a simple usb-c hub with my ipad pro...and it worked! and still sounds wonderful! So basically Im going to use it for recording on the go and have a boom arm for when sitting at my desk. Im buying a usb-c mini-usb cable now on amazon to see if it works. The cable is red so it's gonna look great!

do you think there's a way to go from mini usb to lightning directly ?

I don't think I could find a cable like that back when I was looking for them. Plus if you wanted it for something like this the lightning has to be a specific audio pass through cable and not a data cable so this was the only cable setup I could come up with that would convert to mini USB and allow audio through lightning.

@@Mr.Everything ok I get it... unfortunately the lightning audio cable isn't available anywhere in europe. great mic though, I have that one as well but I'll probably go for the Zoom IQ6 now

When you record a video with the Samson GoMic on iPhone, it looks like you have to disconnect it in order to test and hear the sound on the video afterward. Somebody correct me if there's a workaround. Thanks.

All microphones you connect to an iPhone do that. Sometimes you can go to the "Now Playing" widget in the control center and switch the audio back to the internet speakers but it's usually just easier to unplug the mic to hear the audio back.

@@Mr.Everything I do have a follow-up question since you answered so quickly. The sound quality of the Samson seems nearly indistinguishable from the iPhone mic. I even tapped the mic to make sure it was the Samson picking it up. Am I doing something wrong?

@@scotmckay Most modern iPhones have pretty good internal microphones. I do think the Samson is better than the mic in my iPad but for my iPhone I don't usually use it unless I'm in position that I know would work better with an external mic. I've also noticed sometimes when I record with the Samson mic I get interference and distortion in my audio which defeats the purpose of using a better microphone in the first place. I'm not sure if it's the mic itself, possibly running through these adapters causes interference, or my specific mic might be defective but I don't have any issues when I use a different external mic with my iPhone.

@@Mr.Everything The issue seems to be it's clipping if I talk with any vocal energy whatsoever. Is there a way to control the volume from the settings in the iPhone?

@@scotmckay I'm not sure if there are any 3rd party apps that will allow you to control the gain for an external mic. Placing the microphone farther away from you would probably be the easiest fix to try first.
