I have never done this before. Follow along and see what problems I run into whilst doing this in my home Workshop. It all turns out well and I would do it again if the other cylinder Leak. This Excavator is a Komatsu PC12R. I have made some Videos on it previously.

    Cheers bud, I needed to make sure the head doesn't come apart farther to make it easy to get the gaskets out before trying to pry with flatheads. Super helpful.

    Well done mate, especially being prepared to have a go yourself and learn. I own an old knackered (ex Kennards Hire) Takeuchi TB016 which I've made new pins for and am constantly repairing and working on. I have a leaking RAM and after watching this will probably have a go at it myself. So thanks again.

      Cheers Thanks Glen, I’m probably going to do something about a few of the pins as well at some stage try to get a little bit of the play out:)

      @@offtrackprojectsandmainten5681 I'm lucky enough to have a lathe, and managed to salvage some extremely tough bearing shafts from a vibration machine. The tungsten carbide lathe bits just cope cutting it and I have to cut them to length with an angle grinder.... But they are tougher than the originals. Hard part is getting the old pins out if they're siezed. Good luck.

    Great video, except I have a Hytachi ex27u and it has a different holding nut on the ram . It has a set screw with ball check to make sure it doesn’t back out, but your video was great some great pointers. Thank you

    Great video. I just bought a Komatsu off auction; it’s in good nick but the boom cylinder is leaking a bit. Your explanation has me on my way (I hope). Biggest problem will be knowing what to ask for in Japanese. I hope I can just use the part number.

      @ricardo3760 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just call up Komatsu and ask for parts, and give them the parts number, shouldnt harder than that

    well as a 18 year cyl mechanic you did not do to bad deff a few things you could of done either different or better the only thing for sure was a problem i seen right away was u have rust pits on the rod that should have been fixed as your new seals will be cut fairly quickly and basically a waste of seal money and time good go for a first timer though

      How would you go about fixing these rust pits you mention?

    • @robertcameron1193
      @robertcameron1193 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@berniemac8413 the rust pits are a hard thing to gage without seeing it but if they are very shallow and not a whole lot of them then have the shaft re-chromed and what they will do is polish/grind below the level of the pits and chrome back to tolerance or if the pits are deeper as in .010 to say .025 and not a big patch then they can be dot welded with chrome balls that being said I have not met a Chrome shop yet that will fill more the 15 to 20 holes before he will refuse the job dot welding with the balls is a massive pain in the ass I own Hawk Hydraulics in Delta B.C Canada if you like give me a call and I can help you trouble shoot your situation im the (236) number

    This is too long. Please don’t talk so much. Make your explanations simple and to the point. We don’t care about minor details. We want plain, simple, and to the point. The longer you talk and explain, the fewer people you will have watching or subscribing.

    To all of you rebuilding your cylinders if the cylinder is scratched up then you are just wasting you time replacing the seals. It will leak again even with new seals in it.
