My kids played floor ball in school too, when did this game come about? we played floor hockey with the bendy sticks and an orange puck that slid on the hardwood, we used to bend the blade with our hands to get a big curve and wrist shots were only allowed whereas the flex of the shaft generated power , kind of like the way the NHLers use the flex of the stick today to generate power on their shots.

Probably because you do not live in Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, or Chech Republic - the Big-4 of this sport.
It is done in USA, but Stars&stripes is a minnow. In the last Men´s World Championships, Team USA got hammered by Thailand. The Thais were not much more technically proficient, but they were far ahead in brawns&muscle. In the last game, USA just barely avoided DFL place by winning a nailbiter against Singapore. The USA ladies are a bit better. They placed 13th out of 16, and actually did manage to win one game big, against the nonentity Italy. Got solidly beaten by Denmark, though. EDIT: Forgot that the lady stars&stripes won over Thailand, a fantastic pull-yourself-together-when-everything-seems-lost performance by them.
Team USA has never won against a nordic team, not in any age category in either sex. Against the big 2 (SWE/FIN), USA has not scored a draw. Nor have they lost nailbiters, or even managed a solid but respectable loss. Every single time, it has been a total wipeout against the big nordic teams.
The closest time team USA came to winning over a Nordic team was, IIRC, a 1-9 loss against Iceland, the by far weakest Nordic country.
In fact, I seriously doubt, and I am quite dead serirous here, that the USA men could win over the Sweden women. Testosterone is one hell of a drug, but there is so much playing ability to make up for so I hold our big blonde machine as slight favorites.

As long as the player moves forward while the ball is moving backwards its ok (its a new rule i think)

Why? It's just another version of the basic concept of teams trying to put an object into the other teams goal. There's infinite sports like this, football, hockey, handball, basketball, lacrosse etc.
Obviously most people prefer hockey to this, but this is much cheaper. It's main role is just to be played in schools and just with friends/collegues, the proffessional side is just an inevitable side effect.
