Great video! Keep them coming! You’re so young and doing wonderful things! When I was 24 years old, I lived on a 32 foot sailboat for seven years and made one ocean crossing from California to Hawaii. It was an amazing trip. Can’t wait to see all of your future adventures!
Another great video. Really enjoying watching your journey and how you solve all the challenges in your path. Keeping expanding your sailing skills, you might explain how you are navigating your boat and how you are getting weather information in future videos.
Thought the AI voice over at the end in a fake British accent was hilarious. Got my subscription just for that! Good luck on your voyage. Admire your pluck. This is the correct age to do what you are doing. Stick with it. Greetings from the UK.
Re: Night (and Day) single-handing voyages; A kitchen timer with a long ring set for 25 minutes and a quality sleep mask. One sleeps for the 25 minutes (after a few hours one immediately falls asleep). Upon the alarm ringing, one does two slow 360 sighting of the horizon looking for ships, one checks the course and sail trim, and then sleeps for 25 more minutes. Two hour sleeps are for when you have AIS and are in the middle of the Atlantic or Pacific. One's body adjust to this cycle, and it is about as safe as a single-hander can get. I have used this approach with success for about 8000 single-handed ocean miles.
That's good advice. I have heard from others as well say they adapt to a sleep cycle like that after a couple days. So far I try to keep my night sails to a minimum since I'm solo but I'll have to try and track down a timer for the next jump I make and give it a shot
Tip: Never, ever sleep, or even nap, on the inshore tack! The stories are many of folks that did that, and the next they knew was the crunch of the hull on the rocky beach or worse… Keep up the great videos!
I admire your dedication to do your voyage❤. I need to learn to sail so I was wondering what you were meaning by a tak 🧐🙂 Maybe add a map in your video. That was a nice looking fish, did you ever look up what kind it was? Some advice on keeping your food stored would be to use widemouth glass mason jars. It keeps food fresher. Anyways, happy sailing!🎉
Hey Damon. Much enjoyed your channel having just discovered it recently. The boat looks well found and I can see you’re learning a lot as you go along in a very competent manner. Well done. By the way who is your rich English accented voice over? Classy. Stay safe.
This is all very impressive. But I am so glad that I am not your mother. I would get No Sleep at all. Smooth Sailing Young Man. From the Pacific Northwest.
Hey Cap D! Just awesome! Thanks for taking us along. ❤

I’ve been watching your work from time to time. You have some talented and are learning quickly.
I love the narrator. Keep him going.
Keep posting. It’s fun feeling apart of your journey.
Thanks! There should be many more videos to follow :)

As you no doubt figured out by now that night sailing is magical and one of the best experiences in life. IMHO. Hope you find joy in it. Peace ☮️
It most definitely is. Especially on a calm clear night it can't be beat
Looks like you are having fun. Only thing matters is to be careful!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am having a blast and trying to be careful while doing so too!

@@damonrust It is important to continue with this approach into the day in order to get enought sleep, even thought it is in 25 minute segments.
That.... was..... awesome! I cracked up at the end with that commentator.
Haha yeah I had a little fun with the ending on that one.....
Have you heard to the app, sea people? Might be worth looking into. Thanks for sharing bud. I’m really enjoying watching you grow into a true sailor.
Yes I had just signed up for it actually. Haven't fully figured it out but looks promising

Very good point. I set lots of alarms on multiple devices but I agree looking back it still could have gone south
