Great video! Just some words of wisdom, you should never swim that far away from your boat. Had you hit a current, you may not have been able to swim back. This once happened to us while scuba diving. We were lucky and a boat came by and saw us, and took us back to our boat.
Hey bubba, can you move camera a little slower. I lived in key West in my 20s and enjoy seeing the area again. Not all the shots move too fast. Thanks for sharing.
Nothing quite like prepping for storms at anchor. You seem to be doing the right things, talking to others, getting a concensus, making decisions. Nothing quite like getting first hand experience though. That fin skeg keel of yours is a bit vulnerable to going aground in the gunk holes you appear to be starring in! Only just OK in soft sand, bad news in rock/coral. Not sure if you are storm prepping or running aground here?
Agreed local information has been very beneficial. My plan is just to ride it out at anchor here. The bottom nearby is all soft so if I did happen to run around close it would be recoverable but there are lots of coral heads and rocks here in the keys that can easily sink a boat if you dont watch the charts close
I hadn't deployed the anchor yet when Helene passed so I was staying at a marina in Marathon. Looks like there might be some more storms headed this way however so we'll really be testing the anchor here in the coming weeks
@@damonrust something like 70 pounds Manson Boss as my primary, with a 40 pound Danforth in “daisy chain”. Then I had a chain coming off of my secondary bow roller with a Danforth
Man, you are one brave cat to be that young, sailing alone on a boat in the Gulf. You should consider getting yourself a girl to be out there with you. I can even nominate a girl who really IS brave enough to face the ocean with the right captain by her side. You'll immediately like what you see, as she is Bo Derek blonde Alpine Nordic pretty. She has a youtube channel called No Perfect Plan.
I was wondering the approximate age of people watching . I suspect older people have the time to watch sailing videos . Your drumming music you played really is not nice . Try going softer and more gentle .
you ever need a +1 for the crew lmk, you ever wanna freshwater central fl for legendary bass lmk, i'm also not bad as inshore. shii looks legendary and doing a 3 day camping trip like this would be a dream come true!!
Once you've got sailing experience even on a small boat it translates pretty to larger craft aswell. If I'm ever up in Central FL I'll definitely hit you up and go do some bass fishing!
W video
W bro

Great video. The freedom you have is incredible. Do you fish/lobster?
Not as much as I'd like to. I'm still learning how to saltwater fish better
We finished last season in the keys and I have that same hat.
Nice! It's beautiful sailing here
Nice video. im not much of a sailor, but is it wise to solo sail and be on deck without a harness? Stay safe, and I hope your channel blows up.
Most of the time it is... as long as he stays sober.
Great video. Just drop most of the music and go with natural background or your narration.
Ok thanks!
where'd you get the dinghy gas can? have a link for it?
Bought it off fb marketplace. I think it's called a dinghy mate gas tank
What length is your boat?
34 foot
330 lb anchor??? LOL.
Did the anchor hold you down for Helene?

@@damonrust my boat did good on anchor in Clearwater. You have a unique name too
Haha you too, not a common name either. What anchor are you using?

Sounds like a real solid setup there. Glad it held through Helene
