Bro, you are playing with one of the greatest number 1's in tennis. He was the player of the decade in the 80s, above Mac and Connors. He was a dominant beast on the court and used to harass his opponents on the court. He won over a 100 titles (Djokovic has only reached this now), and brought fitness into the men's game. What a legend. I grew up with Lendl and loved watching him play.
That's awesome you played Lendl - loved watching him growing up... was hoping he could whip a running forehand passing shot down the line for old times sake!
@@erictrippe2778well he is pretty heavy in general and looking at Michael Chang, John McEnroe, Mats Wilander, and Andre Agassi all seem a normal body weight comparably speaking. Anybody that heavy is not going to be feeling all that well.
I'd love to pay Lendl at pickleball! Doesn't he live in Florida now? Wonder why he was playing a tournament in MA. It's great to see him still playing a racket sport for fun, especially with all the back problems he had from tennis.
I have a question about pickleball? Is there any rule in pickleball that prohibits a person from having a paddle in each hand at the same time when they are not serving the ball so that a person does not have to switch the paddle between hands during a point?
Yeah, only one half of the court is played at a time. If your own score is even, you play the right side and if your score is odd you play the left side. So depending on the score, it maybe the right diagonal, left diagonal, or playing straight on.
The paddle is the same head size as his adidas racquet. I’ve watched one point and Lendl has already come to net more than his whole career. Other than wilander I was huge Lendl guy.
@ get over yourself it was a dang joke. People like you need to stay offline. Instead of going around correcting people on clear jokes because you aren’t smart enough on your own to figure out that Lendl volleyed more than once in his career. Some people need to learn common sense and not to correct people when not asked. Such a loser lol
Just like I remember him back in the days. Very dry personality. Not much was said back then in interviews and not now! Surprised, he doesn't have sawdust in his pocket.
It took you 3/4 of the match to play proper skinny single and by then, the lead was to big to overcome. Ivan was my tennis idol, but wow, he's twice his former size now.
Older folks have lower metabolic rate. Have respect for your elders. At his age, most guys are DEAD. At over 65 and barely able to move he's beating kids who could have been his grandchildren to move on to the next round! I am a PB player, and unlike tennis players, I know how to respect people who were some of the best in their craft.

dude you got play with the legend... awesome
Love seeing the tennis greats coming over to pickleball
Oh sheet. It’s Michael Chang with the underhand serve all over again!
I don’t watch a lot of skinny singles, but Lendl cross court atp body bag seems like a viral clip waiting to happen.
That shot Lendl made at 1:40, wow. He's been playing pickleball awhile.
Very cool! I was a huge Lendl fan in his day. After watching this, his reaction speed and touch are still impressive. 👏
Yup, his hands are great!
at 1:56 that lob was in! Even inside the line.... Shame on you for not calling it in LOL!! Ivan is a legend!
In skinny singles we only play one half of the court at a time. For that point, the whole left side was out
@@JackyPlays Oh! Really?! Thanks for the clarification.
I am so glad to see him out here playing picklleball and I hope he keeps playing and lose weight so he feels better and continues to play better.
How do you know he doesn't feel well?
@@erictrippe2778well he is pretty heavy in general and looking at Michael Chang, John McEnroe, Mats Wilander, and Andre Agassi all seem a normal body weight comparably speaking. Anybody that heavy is not going to be feeling all that well.
He is an avid golfer. I am sure he gets a lot of exercise from golf.
@@valeriapw7908 apparently not enough exercise. Over 60% of Americans are over fat, sadly.
1:39 sick
Ivan loved strudel and wine. 😀
Overweight Ivan beating people’s butts

I hope Lendl keeps play pickleball.
Love Ivan

From the USAP rule book:
(Rule 11.O) You may only use one pickleball paddle while playing pickleball
Not enough time to switch hands in pickleball
@@clu4u I have seen people do it but granted they aren't high level.
I know he's old and all now. But Lendl is intimidating haha. He's a unit.
Skinny singles? Is that using only half the court? They serve into the same side court.

Stop it. Lendl played S/V on grass and came to the net very often regardless of surface. Try actually watching his matches.

Time hasn't been kind to Ivan.
1:56 was good!!!!!
It was out. Jacky was playing the deuce court. Ivan’s shot went into the ad court
Lendl likes the buffet
He needs to get back on the tennis courts!!!!
I read he had a back injury so something as physical as tennis is not possible
Lendl and his Adidas tennis racket back in the days……
I think there needs to be a rule that you can’t win a game when your opponent returns the serve into the net.
The difference between tennis players and pickleball players.
Just like I remember him back in the days. Very dry personality. Not much was said back then in interviews and not now! Surprised, he doesn't have sawdust in his pocket.
Haha I remember the sawdust. Man he's good at pickleball, as expected.
1:56 Was this called out?
Yeah, in Skinny Singles only half the court is in play at a time. In this point only my right half of the court is in
@@JackyPlays Got it 👍
Your backhand bro
"Skinny singles" so you don't have to run? I have never seen this.
Noticed how the great one took his hat off to shake hands. Try and learn some class Jack
I cannot believe this guy coached both Zverev and Andy Murray. He looks like every senior at rec play. Can't believe he's a grandslam champion.
he was ranked number 1 for 5 straight years !!!
And I cannot believe how ignorant you are. Guy has 8 grand slams--7 more than your IQ
@@coachfezz1137 Yup, he was a all time great. It's crazy how age changes your physique. He just looks totally different from how I remember him.
He was in the US Open finals 8 years in a row beginning in 1982. Was considered the most fit player of his time.
Getting old sucks!!!

Ivan Lendl too? Ugh 😑

I think its due to a back injury, he can't play tennis anymore or even exercise to any degree
@@Siloguy that’s a shame. I loved the 80’s tennis. Best era ever.

You only play one half of the court at a time in skinny, that whole left half is out for this point
