Realistically, at least for ancient battles, soldiers would typically fight in intense close combat for a short time and then back off to their own lines for a break or be cycled out with rested men. There's no way you could continuously fight for a long period of time like in the movies. Just a few minutes of combat would totally exhaust you.

I have been shedding weight recently so I’m not eating much, I underestimated how much I would need yesterday and crashed after 5 rounds of fighting

Depends on the era, in medieval times blunt weapons were commonly used between armored knights. Stabbing techniques were used to by pass armor. It is extremely brutal, in ancient times it was even worse. Full on decapitation.
There absolutely were guys out there on the medieval battlefield who were absolute killers, it's just they were usually rich knights who wore better armor than everyone else and were trained from birth to use the armor effectively and had whole support structures in place to make them as effective as possible. Basically the equivalent of modern day martial artists whose parents were also elite martial artists, like Floyd Mayweather or Wonderboy.
Except moreso even than that. In a world where most didn’t have the nutrition to grow properly, the elites were literally physically bigger and better than most guys youd see on a battlefield
that's true. It was probably a murder field when you have starving farmers with no armor against a well-trained knight just working their way through everyone

You're so lame, with swords what they would try to do is outstrike and then tackle their opponents, and then use a special dagger in vulnerable areas, such as armpits and groin - covered with mail and not plates, or eye slits. As for the main weapons to go against knights, other knights would use a lance and be on a horse, since most of the time they would fight on horsebacks. Rarely when they're on foot, they would use different polearms.

Would love if DJ ever put his tactical mind to this sport. The most interesting side of this sport has 5v5 combat, the 1v1 styles can be stale because it's a growing sport with very few high level athletes. There are no submissions allowed in armored MMA, no joint locks or chokes, and ground fighting is limited by time. Which is why they stand them up.
You should definitely check out more of this content dj. It's Savage as hell. It has to be really hard to ref this stuff though considering you can't really see the faces of the fighters. Respect all of those guys, it's a hell of a spectacle.

That was a large portion of the troops. Mostly peasantry enlisted into battle by their respective lords. Leather armor if you had a little bit of money, and farming tools for weapons. The nobility were armored and had the good weapons.

He points out how it is the original movie to do a gritty and real representation of a medieval fight, pointing out how it's messy and both fighters get tired and how the armour effect things prolonging the fight and what it would actually be like to try and kill someone in plate armour who's trying to do the same to you. Kind of interesting honestly. Fights are never so perfectly clean, especially when you add armour into it. Nobody could have been Legolas just making it look easy and graceful. 😂 You should look up Hema too. It's an actual medieval martial art using the sword with historical textbooks and everything.

Some cultures started training at a young age so they were well accustomed to whatever armor/weapons were available and were good fighters. It’s hard for us to understand it nowadays bc we’re not growing up with a sword/etc in our hands 😂 but I honestly believe they were impressive fighters that would laugh at our modern interpretation of armored hand to hand combat 😅

Yeah, daggers are easier to slip between the plates.
Armour piercing daggers are called Rondel/Roundel daggers. They didn't even need to slip beneath plate, they would be vicious.
Or just bring a mace or halberd. Ez dubs on the armor boys
