There absolutely were guys out there on the medieval battlefield who were absolute killers, it's just they were usually rich knights who wore better armor than everyone else and were trained from birth to use the armor effectively and had whole support structures in place to make them as effective as possible. You're so lame, with swords what they would try to do is outstrike and then tackle their opponents, and then use a special dagger in vulnerable areas, such as armpits and groin - covered with mail and not plates, or eye slits.
As for the main weapons to go against knights, other knights would use a lance and be on a horse, since most of the time they would fight on horsebacks. Rarely when they're on foot, they would use different polearms.

The most interesting side of this sport has 5v5 combat, the 1v1 styles can be stale because it's a growing sport with very few high level athletes. There are no submissions allowed in armored MMA, no joint locks or chokes, and ground fighting is limited by time. Which is why they stand them up.

I am pretty sure biggest challenge they face is temperature under this outfit. In GI it is already rough sometimes.... now multiply it few times and add 30kg of armor on top. Crazy.

I saw a good video about Roman Polanski's MacBeth and why it has the best fight scene in movie history, and he makes some good points. He points out how it is the original movie to do a gritty and real representation of a medieval fight, pointing out how it's messy and both fighters get tired and how the armour effect things prolonging the fight and what it would actually be like to try and kill someone in plate armour who's trying to do the same to you. Kind of interesting honestly. Fights are never so perfectly clean, especially when you add armour into it. Nobody could have been Legolas just making it look easy and graceful. 😂 You should look up Hema too. It's an actual medieval martial art using the sword with historical textbooks and everything.

Some cultures started training at a young age so they were well accustomed to whatever armor/weapons were available and were good fighters. It’s hard for us to understand it nowadays bc we’re not growing up with a sword/etc in our hands 😂 but I honestly believe they were impressive fighters that would laugh at our modern interpretation of armored hand to hand combat 😅
