In this Grasshopper tutorial, you will learn how to create a Geodesic Sphere with the glass panels and its structure using Grasshopper. A Geodesic Sphere is a spherical thin-shell structure (lattice-shell) based on a geodesic polyhedron. The video is divided into several parts where you can see how each individual facade segment is generated. We will also reveal a few tricks from LunchBox and Weaverbird plugin.
The first step includes making triangular elements for the sphere that will represent glass panels. In this process, we will involve a few components from the LunchBox plugin (Platonic Icosahedron and Subdivide Triangle) that we will use to project on the Surface to create lines. In the next step, we will use these lines to convert Lines into Closed Brep and create glass panels. In that step, we will insert several components from the Weaverbird plugin.
In the next phase, we will demonstrate how to convert triangular lines into 3D elements that distribute the structural stress throughout the structure and how to make a connection with the glass panels. As in the previous step, we will combine several Weaverbird Plugin components that allow us to give a thickness to the mesh that is previously generated.

Hey HTR, Thanks for all the great tutorials first of all.
As I am currently working on this specific tutorial, I have got stuck when it comes to the part where I am using the "Weavebird's Mesh from lines", as an error pops out saying "1.Wb processing exception- topv_count_is 2 or less! - Weavebird was unable to produce a valid result because of this". What might I have done wrong?

@@zezoalradih5206 Hi, try to see the settings in 'cull duplicates', if set on 'average' change it to 'leave one'.

have question on weaverbird's mesh from lines: it is giving me the error saying that the figure has to low edge account.

how would we split the mesh of the outer frame? Rhino only recognises it as one mesh
can you clear out the inputs to the Vector 2pt, you rushed into it and i have the arrows going inside not outside, how can i flip it?
Hi Khaled, you just need to switch data from A and B inputs in the component Vector2pt if you want to have vector in other direction or you can just add component Reverse Vector. Basically, in the input A you should place original point from the start of the definition and in the input B should be placed center point of each triangular panel.

Once you zoom in really close to expression component, you will see minus icon next to "y" input. Just click on the minus icon and "y" input will be removed.

I had some difficulties with the expression, why is it red and how can I fix it, and how did you had the expression: Contains (x,"Closed")??
Right-click on your "Expression icon" and rename it to (x) instead of (Variable x).
is this only applicable for a sphere? or can I use the same path on an open polysurface?
Unfortunately, this particular script is only applicable on a sphere.

Hi Zezo,
You need to do a slight modification within the "Cull Duplicates" component at 5:05. Go right-click on it and set "Leave one" from the dropdown menu.
