This. This is what I wish I was tought at school. But no, they have to just tell you that in that year there has been this battle and this many people died and country A won over country B. I cannot stress how important is the work of people like you, I have learnt so much from just here than in an entire school year. It astonishes me how facts can be invented and reinterpreted and REPURPOSED, that's the right word, and that such information often remains unknown to so many people, mostly because they don't know they can indeed reach this information through coscious research. Many people don't even know how to properly do research, plus there is just so much like this lantern fact out there, I feel overwhelmed.
At least, I've tried to do a very easy research through the web and in wikipedia (easiest and first website looked for by lazy people) it is clearly stated that the lantern itself is really just related to german soldiers, the first picture you see looking for "julleuchter" is the hearth and wheel one, and Allach porcelain was produced by forced labor, so there is no being mistaken.

Thank you for setting the record straight, I have been to several camps through a school program, and I will never forget the "refrigerator" in the SS HQ in Berlin, or the fact that no birds sang at the consentration camps. Bone chilling to look back on now.
