I mistakenly tried to rescue an 18+ year old 2nd hand mattress with a mattress topper from My Pillow. I still ended up in a large indent in the mattress with my back aching. Sadly, you can't rescue a bad or old mattress with a topper! Lesson learned.
The Temper-Pedic Adapt 3" topper is so uncomfortable. It's hard to turn and toss and it did not provided the pillow top softness I wanted and Tempur-pedic doesn't allow returns on toppers like other companies do.
If I sink to the bottom of a 6 inch foam mattress would putting a firm topper UNDER the mattress prevent the sinking? What firm toppers would you recommend that could accomplish this? Can I buy firmer support base layers separate from mattresses? If adding padding underneath how thick would it need to be?
