  • A genuine 1960 archive film, originally colour 16mm film of Formula Junior a new form of car racing. Features Oulton Park, Brands Hatch and Silverstone with the British Empire Trophy . Filmed and produced by my late Father David Roscoe. He stopped racing himself in 1959 and took up film making in a semi professional capacity and made films of Racing and club motorsport until the mid 1970's when he went back to racing in VSCC events. I hope to upload many more of his films. This one must have been one of the earliest films he made. Setting up his company Roscoe Films to do so.
Copyright remains with Roscoe Films. Please no reproduction without permission.

Wonderful Hamish, thoroughly enjoyed the dry humour of the narration.

Wonderful old clip, Jim Clarke, was just that bit better than everyone else in my humble opinion, Such a great loss to the British Racing teams. I was 3 when this race took place, But by the time I was 8, Jim clarke was my no 1 driver,

    What a gem!
It's interesting to see the effect of Fenning's Venom's complete lack of camber recovery - the wheels lean with the body, causing excessive positive camber gain and attendant loss of grip for all to see :-)

Brilliant - once you'd finished with it, that pram chassis was naturally turned into a succession of go-karts ;-) Amazing to see , Ken Tyrrell, Colin Chapman and Frank Williams in the film!

I thought that too, but frank williams (born 1942) would have been 18 in 1960, the bloke at 9:04 aint no 18 year old... :-)

@@alan-sk7ky mmm, not sure. Frank started losing his hair early on. In 1960, he had already left school & started an apprenticeship. And- in his own words-for several years never missed a Boxing Day Brands Hatch meeting.

That’s for sharing your experiences it’s sad when we think of others involved who have passed on, but hopefully because these films bring back memories they do live on.

A secret practise session in the end. This must 've been the first six wheeler although a little on the heavy side.
